How to Build Your Own HHO Torch

by Charles Seiler
www.Ritalie.com
HHO gas is real. HHO gas is simply H2O (water) that has covalent bonds that have been weakened,
and the atoms are in a dierent conig!ration. "he atoms are st!ck together, b!t very loosely. HHO is
#rown$s gas. #rown$s gas is not the same as o%ygen and hydrogen which are physically mi%ed together.
"he dierence is e%tremely important, beca!se #rown$s gas prod!ces very !n!s!al characteristics
when b!rned. #rown$s gas is only prod!ced via an electrical reaction, with the end gas having a !ni&!e
electrical charge to it. "he electrical charge is what makes HHO'#rown$s gas !ni&!e and dierent than
a tank o compressed hydrogen. (n interesting act that ew people reali)e* the longer yo! charge the
water in yo!r electrolysis !nit, the more power!l the #rown$s gas is when it b!rns. HHO is a real gas,
and the reason people say that it doesn$t e%ist, is beca!se the people who have discovered it have went
missing, or have literally been m!rdered. #rown$s gas was named by +!ll #rown. "his gas is only
prod!ced by electric c!rrent, and when it b!rns, it has an electrical reaction, which is very !n!s!al.
"his electrical reaction with the s!bstrate is what makes HHO gas !ni&!e. , yo! are wanting to b!ild
an HHO torch, yo! probably know all abo!t the history o +!ll #rown, and many others who have tried
st!dying electrolysis, with the intent o e%tracting energy rom water. "hese researchers, and inventors,
have not ared well, and most are now gone. , yo! want to learn more, please research the ollowing
people*
-.) +!ll #rown* ,nvented #rown$s gas, by doing the necessary research which had never been done
p!blicly, on s!ch a large scale.
2.) Stanley .eyer* His motto was to /keep it simple st!pid.0 #!t he did e%actly the opposite when
he e%plained things to the p!blic.
1.) 2oe rom (!stralia* He made the 2oe cell, which is an HHO cell which can easily power a car,
!sing only 3 amp or less o electric c!rrent rom the battery. He also claimed to have b!ilt a
torch which !sed no lame, and harnessed only the invisible, !nknown particles o energy
released rom the electrolysis process. "hese particles were able to ignite steel spontaneo!sly
into lames. His videos are available on +o!"!be, and all o them dey logic.
4.) Steven 2ones 5 +o! have to search +o!"!be on /How a 2oe cell works.0 "his physicist was able
to replicate the 2oe cell technology, and he ran an engine on invisible particles that are released
d!ring long periods o s!stained electrolysis between stainless steel electrodes. 2ones said that
the particles co!ld be de!teri!m, and they were able to travel thro!gh a solid piece o al!min!m
wire. #rown$s gas appears to contain this invisible energy, whatever it may be. Steven 2ones has
since been silenced, or obvio!s reasons, and nobody has been able to replicate what he did.
6.) 7enny 8lein 5 Created a sensation with a mainstream video o an HHO torch in action, shown
on a news channel. 7enny was able to melt bricks, and r!n his car on #rown$s gas.
Materials Needed for an HHO Torch:
-.) ( water !el cell with (--) 10 % 90 stainless steel plates
2.) ( lashback b!bbler
1.) ( lashback check valve
4.) (C to 7C rectiier, 26: volt, 6: amp rating
6.) ;ress!re <a!ge (optional)
9.) #rass ball valve
"o make an HHO torch, yo! need to irst b!ild a water !el cell, otherwise known as a hydrogen
booster, or a wet cell electrolysis !nit. +o! will take -- plates, which are 10 wide, and 90 tall, and -'-90
thick. +o! can !se 1:4= or 1-9= stainless, or any other non>magnetic stainless steel. ,n tests !sing 7C
voltage, and tap water, 1-9= stainless steel prod!ces more hydrogen, and cons!mes less c!rrent the
longer yo! !se the plates. "he 1-9= metal itsel act!ally prod!ces twice as m!ch hydrogen gas ater it
is conditioned, thereby do!bling, or tripling the eiciency o electrolysis. , have no knowledge o how
other types o stainless steel perorm, b!t some might be better or worse. +o! can try them at yo!r own
risk.
"he plates are separated with nylon washers, -'-90 thick, and then bolted together with nylon bolts.
+o! will need 4 nylon bolts, - -'20 long. +o! will need 4: nylon washers (b!y more ?!st in case yo!
lose some.) +o! can get nylon hardware very cheap thro!gh @astenal. "hey will send yo! a catalog i
yo! go on their website.
"he positive and negative electrical connections to the plates sho!ld be !nder water, or saety reasons.
#eca!se yo! are prod!cing hydrogen gas, yo! don$t want to risk a ailed electrical connection and a
corresponding spark which might occ!r i yo! have e%posed electrical connections. +o! will need to
copy the design shown in the pict!res, and attach yo!r positive and negative electrodes on the bottom
o yo!r water !el cell. ,t does not matter where yo! drill the holes to asten the plates together, ?!st
make a template with the -
st
plate, and copy every plate AB(C"=+ the same thereater. On my plates, ,
drilled the holes in dierent spots, in a non>symmetrical pattern to make it impossible to accidentally
reverse the plates.
@or the cell itsel, yo! will want to !se 40 acrylic t!bing, or 40 black sewer drain pipe. ;CC pipe is
temperat!re sensitive and will not work or e%tended periods o electrolysis, which oten boils the
water. Dse black sewer pipe caps or the top and bottom o yo!r cell. "his plastic holds medi!m
press!re ?!st ine, and will not ail even i the water boils. , did try white ;CC caps, and it ails
immediately when the water reaches its boiling point. Ehite ;CC is FO" sae, do not !se ;CC pipes,
caps or ittings on yo!r HHO electrolysis !nit.
"o make the welder more !nctional, yo! will want to b!ild more than - water !el cell, and this will
allow yo! to prod!ce more gas.
@or the torch tip, yo! can p!rchase a pre>made torch tip designed or HHO, or yo! can b!ild one. , was
able to b!ild one cheaply !sing a .,< welder tip, and ish a&!ari!m air stones, which act as an HHO
lashback arrestor. @or the torch tip no))le, yo! will !se a .:21 > .:16 .,< welding copper tip,
designed or wire eed welders. Dnort!nately, !nless yo! know how to bra)e or solder copper, , cannot
help yo! design the torch tip. (t the end o this g!ide, , show yo! how to do it yo!rsel, i yo! want to
give it a try. , was able to silver bra)e my .:1:0 copper .,< tip to a brass itting.
, yo! have never silver bra)ed, b!t are willing to try it, then yo! need a propane'acetylene'mapp gas
torch, some white high temperat!re silver bra)ing l!%, and some silver bra)e. Silver bra)e is called
/Saety Silv 4:.0 +o! can b!y it at yo!r local welding shop, and probably only at a welding shop.
Silver bra)e is not solder, and it$s not welding rod, it contains silver and copper and melts at --::@, not
6::@ like solder. ,t melts easier than gas bra)ing rod. .ost people have never heard o it.
"o silver bra)e, yo! will loosely brass, copper, stainless, nickel, steel, or any other common metal
(e%cept al!min!m) together. Silver bra)e will not ill large gaps, so yo! want the parts to it very sn!g
beore yo! try to bra)e them. Coat the pieces that are to be bra)ed with a very light coating o white
l!%. Heat the pieces !ntil they are orange hot, and then apply the silver bra)e. +o! cannot bra)e the
parts !ntil they are orange hot, so don$t try, yo! will ?!st waste the silver and r!in the part. Coat the
silver bra)e wire, or silver bra)e rod with a light coating o l!% as well. "he silver bra)e and all the
parts need to be very clean, so !se steel wool or a wire br!sh on everything and clean it beore yo! try
to bra)e it. , done properly, the silver bra)e will low into all the crevices, and will orm a very strong
itting.
Eith silver bra)e, yo! can make any torch tip yo!r heart desires, o!t o anything that has a .:21>.:160
hole in it.
,$ve tried to make this g!ide as easy as possible, however, it will obvio!sly still re&!ire yo! to invent
some processes. , cannot show yo! every single process. +o! will also need to b!y &!ite a ew special
tools, !nless yo! already own them. @or e%ample, yo! will need (-) -'40 F;" pipe thread tap, and (-)
-'G0 F;" pipe thread tap. "hese are e%pensive, b!t they are available at any local hardware store. +o!
will also need Cobalt drill bits to drill the 1-9= stainless, beca!se other drill bits will not work with the
very hard 1-9= stainless.
Eith the pict!res and inormation given, yo! sho!ld be easily be able to b!ild yo!r own HHO torch. ,
yo! cannot ig!re o!t a speciic detail, , will be more than happy to answer any &!estions. ;lease
contact me thro!gh my website, www.Ritalie.com and !se the orm at the bottom o the page to send
yo!r comments and &!estions.
"he irst step is to p!rchase all yo!r parts. "he stainless steel will have to come rom yo!r local metal
s!pplier. "hey can c!t the metal into 10 % 90 pieces or yo!. +o! cannot c!t this metal yo!rsel, beca!se
it is very hard to c!t, !nless yo! are e&!ipped to c!t hard sheet metal. "in snips will FO" c!t 1-9=
stainless steel. "he black sewer pipe is available at the local hardware store. C!t the sewer pipe into G0
long sections. ;!rchase a emale thread 40 drain clean o!t, which is also black (#S plastic, and
p!rchase the male thread cap to go along with this. +o! need 2 caps, and 2 drain clean o!ts or each o
yo!r G0 long pieces o pipe (a top and bottom.)
+o! will !se Christy$s pipe gl!e, the bl!e st!, on all yo!r pipe parts, or any other ;CC gl!e or !se
with water pipes (some gl!e re&!ires primer, so be s!re to ask beore yo! b!y it. , have !sed Christy$s
;CC gl!e and have never had it ail.) (llow the gl!e to dry or 4G ho!rs beore r!nning yo!r !nit,
beca!se there will be some amo!nt o press!re and heat when the electrolysis is occ!rring. "he
press!re occ!rs beca!se o the very small oriice on yo!r HHO torch tip, along with the b!bbler, and
lashback check valve.
"o drill yo!r stainless steel plates, yo! will need a drill press or a corded drill (not a cordless). +o! will
want to drill at very low speed (less than 2::: rpms.) +o! sho!ld !se water on all yo!r holes, while
drilling, beca!se the drill bits can and will overheat and b!rn !p. "he drill bits won$t last !nless yo!
spray water contin!o!sly as yo!r are drilling the 1-9= plates. Einde%, or soapy water seems to work
the best or this. 7o FO" !se oil or drilling beca!se it will embed into the plates, which may r!in the
conditioning process later on.
+o! want to keep the plates clean, and ree o any oil, grease or gl!e, beca!se peak eiciency can only
occ!r i yo! have clean, bare stainless steel, and p!re, clean tap water. Oils and chemicals can
completely remove the coating which is deposited on the 1-9= stainless plates d!ring electrolysis, and
this coating ,FCRA(SAS eiciency. "he coating gets stronger the more yo! r!n the water !el cell.
+et another thing they don$t teach yo! in schoolH
@or the positive and negative electrical connections to the plates, yo! will need (2) -0 % 9.60 strips o
1-9= (or whatever metal yo! are !sing or yo!r plates). One strip attaches on one side o yo!r plates,
and orms yo!r cathode, the other strip will orm yo!r anode. "he plates in the middle are ne!tral, and
do FO" have power connected to them. "he ne!tral plates allow yo! to !se -2: volts, beca!se they
drop voltage across each plate, which red!ces c!rrent cons!mption, and prevents a complete short
circ!it. , yo! !se 2 plates, and only 2 plates, with no ne!tral plates, that will work too, b!t yo! will
need to power the cell with -2 volts, instead o -2: volts. "he more plates yo! have and the more
voltage yo! are !sing, the more potential yo! have or increased HHO prod!ction.
+o! will need stainless steel bolts that connect the -0 strips to the bottom cap. "hese stainless steel
bolts also orm yo!r electrical connections to yo!r voltage inp!t. "hese bolts are shown in the photos
on the bottom o the water !el cell. ,t is tricky p!tting these bolts thro!gh the cap. "he si)e o the bolts
doesn$t matter, b!t yo! will need r!bber backed washers (, !sed tin roo washers) on the o!tside o the
bolts, to seal the water in the cell. , have never had a washer ail, and , have never seen water leak past
them, when they are tightened properly. ,t is worth the e%tra work p!tting the electrical connections at
the bottom, only beca!se there is no chance o accidentally creating sparks above the water line, which
might ca!se the water !el cell to e%plode. You will have to put the 1 strips on the bottom cap, and put
the stainless steel bolts through the bottom cap, BEFORE you begin assembling your 11 plates.
+o! will need to !se telon tape on everything, incl!ding all yo!r water ittings. +o! can tighten
everything by hand, or with a small pipe wrench. +o! don$t need to tighten anything e%cessively,
beca!se yo! sho!ld be !sing abo!t 1 to 6 wraps o telon tape on all o yo!r ittings and caps, which
will seal &!ite easily witho!t being overly tight. , yo! do over tighten yo!r ittings, yo! co!ld break
the plastic sewer pipe.
"o power yo!r water !el cell, yo! will !se -2: volts rom the wall o!tlet, converted to 7C. "o convert
to 7C, yo! are going to !se a bridge rectiier (which is ?!st 4 diodes p!t together to create !ll 7C)
which yo! can p!rchase online. +o! need a 26: volt, 6: amp bridge rectiier, and a heat sink to mo!nt
it to. +o! can also ind a bridge rectiier inside any (C to 7C converter. .any old stereos have very
large bridge rectiiers in them, b!t yo! will have to !se these at yo!r own risk. @or a heat sink, yo! can
?!st !se a big heavy slab o al!min!m, or again, take apart an old stereo and grab a heat sink. +o! will
hook -2: v to yo!r bridge rectiier, and beore yo!r cell orms the white coating on the plates, which
red!ces power cons!mption by increasing electrical resistance, yo! will cons!me a lot o power, and
yo!r bridge rectiier will get warm. , it gets hot immediately, yo! are cons!ming too m!ch power. +o!
can !se distilled water i this is the case. 7istilled water will !se less power. (ter many many ho!rs o
!sing reg!lar tap water, yo! sho!ld notice that things cool down. "he water will r!n cooler, the bridge
rectiier will r!n cooler, and i yo! have clamp on amp meter, yo! will see a noticeable red!ction in
c!rrent cons!mption. "his is d!e to the magical eect o stainless steel, which reacts with plain tap
water, and orms a resistive white power on the plates.
C!rrent cons!mption will go down, b!t magically, yo! get a great deal more gas the more yo!
condition the plates, all with less power inp!t. ,t$s an inverse relationship that isn$t disc!ssed in
mainstream science, b!t it$s a real phenomenon. (Stanley .eyer once said that it wasn$t possible to r!n
a car on water !sing electrolysis in the past, only beca!se stainless steel had not been invented yetH)
@or t!bing, yo! will !se clear vinyl water hose which can be p!rchased at any hardware store. +o! can
!se -'40 or 1'G0 t!bing. , preer -'40 t!bing beca!se it looks better, b!t the t!bing si)e is not important.
+o! co!ld !se -'G0 t!bing i yo! wanted to, b!t ittings wo!ld be impossible to ind.
@or ittings yo! can !se nylon, b!t they will soten !p, and get loose once the water warms !p. , wo!ld
recommend only brass, al!min!m, or stainless steel ittings. Spend the e%tra money and !se metal
ittings. , !sed nylon in the photos here, b!t , wo!ldn$t recommend it.
"o add water to yo!r cell, yo! will want a ill pl!g at the top. "he best thing to do is drill a -0 hole and
insert a r!bber compression pl!g. "hey sell these at (ce hardware, or yo! can !se a boat pl!g, which
they sell in the sporting goods section at Ealmart. ( boat pl!g is a -0 r!bber pl!g which seals the
bottom o the h!ll on a boat. ,t is removable, and seals very well.
Fow, to make this water welder prod!ce a power!l lame, yo! will most likely need to scale it !p.
Ehat , wo!ld recommend is b!ying eno!gh to b!ild 1 or more water !el cells. ,t will not cost m!ch
more to b!ild 1, beca!se the most e%pensive parts are the stainless steel, e%cept yo! are only !sing a
tiny amo!nt o stainless steel anyway. , yo!r bridge rectiier gets hot, yo! will need 1 separate bridge
rectiiers or each o yo!r 1 water !el cells. (nd there is no reason to stop at 1. +o! co!ld !se 2, or yo!
co!ld !se -: water !el cells, however , chose to !se 1 beca!se that is all the s!pplies , had on hand.
"he cells will all get co!pled together. "his HHO torch design co!ld also be !sed to power an engine,
altho!gh , have not tested it in that application. However, with the cheap constr!ction and easy
scalability, it is something to consider.
Note about dry cells:
( dry cell (water !el cell made rom stainless plates sandwiched together between ple%iglass) can be
!sed or an HHO torch, however , have never !sed a dry cell electrolysis !nit. , ater reading all o
this, yo! ind it too complicated, then yo! co!ld p!rchase a dry cell HHO !nit o e#ay, and !se the
principles o!tlined in this g!ide to make a working torch. "he same process applies, b!t yo! may need
to ad?!st yo!r power inp!t to accommodate dierent plates. -2: volts may not work with some dry cell
!nits.
"he ollowing pict!res show a single cell. "his !ses plain tap water, with (--) 10 % 90 1-9= stainless
steel plates, spaced -'-90 apart rom each other and astened together !sing nylon bolts. "here are I
ne!tral plates which do not have any power going to them, b!t these ne!tral plates prod!ce gas ?!st the
same, beca!se voltage is carried thro!gh all -- plates. ;ower inp!t is -2: volts (C, converted to 7C
thro!gh a bridge rectiier. , am !sing a heat sink rom a stereo or the bridge rectiier. @or lashback
arrestors, , am !sing (2) #r!ce Anergetics plastic arrestors. However, my torch design is also an /air
stone0 lashback arrestor itsel, and no lashback has made it past the air stones inside the torch yet. ,
the lashback sho!ld go past the irst air stone, there is a 2
nd
air stone inside my homeade torch. (nd i
the 2
nd
air stone doesn$t work, there are 2 more lashback arrestors. ,n total, there are 4 lashback
arrestors in my o!tp!t line. So ar, , have not had any e%plosions !sing this method. However, many
people also recommend a water b!bbler.
( water b!bbler is strongly recommended, however, , have not o!nd a s!itable water b!bbler that ,
eel is sae, in the event o an e%plosion. (ny water b!bbler that yo! !se sho!ld have a r!bber lid that is
clamped on loosely, ?!st eno!gh to seal, and yo! co!ld !se soapy water on the r!bber so it can slide o
easily and &!ickly in the event o an e%plosion. Ehat , have o!nd is that many people are !sing sealed
water b!bblers which are no saer than a water !el cell. , a water b!bbler e%plodes, it can still ca!se
serio!s in?!ry.
, am not going to tell yo! how to install a water b!bbler, beca!se , have not had s!ccess in !sing one.
However, according to the research o others, it is strongly advised that yo! ind a s!itable water
b!bbler, in addition to the plastic lashback arrestors. "he common method to prevent lashbacks is to
!se both, a b!bbler and a lashback arrestor in line. ,n my case , am !sing mechanical lashback
protectors, instead o water.
Here is the plate assembly. "wo -'40 nylon bolts hold the plates to the bottom cap. "he bottom cap also
serves as the electrical connection. +o! will drill 6'-90 holes or the -'40 bolts. Dse a Rigid brand
Cobalt drill bit rom Home 7epot, as they seem to be the hardest, and last the longest. , tried Sear$s
cobalt bits, b!t they didn$t last. "he drill bits are the most important tool or assembly, beca!se 1-9=
stainless simply destroys drill bits, so b!y the most e%pensive 6'-90 Cobalt (not titani!m coated) drill
bit yo! can get, or drilling hardened metal. "itani!m coated drill bits are a waste, since they are coated
(they aren$t solid titani!m) and the coating will wear o in short order when drilling 1-9= stainless.
1-9= stainless is like a knie blade, and it does not want to cooperate when yo! try to drill or c!t it.
"he -'40 bolts are - -'20 long, nylon. +o! are !sing nylon beca!se yo! don$t want the plates to be
electrically connected (obvio!sly).
"he best place to get these bolts is rom @astenal. @astenal has a website i yo! don$t have a store in
yo!r area. Or yo! can get the bolts at any common hardware store, b!t they literally rip yo! o with the
high prices, so check aro!nd irst. +o! can !se -'40 or everything, or yo! can do what , did, and !se
bolts that are 2 si)es smaller on the o!tside edge bolts. +o! will need a -'-90 thick washer per bolt,
between each and every plate, so each plate will be separated with a total o 4 washers. Fow, yo! co!ld
try to !se ?!st 2 bolts on this assembly, b!t nylon isn$t strong eno!gh to do this. +o! need the s!pport o
4 bolts. , yo! don$t !se 4 bolts, what happens is the plates don$t have the proper spacing, and they
might even to!ch on the edges and create an electrical short. +o! co!ld get away with !sing 2 bolts
(?!st the center ones) i yo! !se nylon /ender washers0 which are very large washers. "his wo!ld work
ok, tho!gh , haven$t tried it.
Fote* Eith -- plates o -'-90 thick stainless steel, and -'-90 thick nylon washers, the - -'20 bolts will
be e%actly the right si)e. +o! won$t be able to increase to -2 plates, !nless yo! !se - 1'40 nylon bolts.
-- plates seems to be perect, when !sing tap water with no electrolyte, and -2: volts. "here is very
little !nnecessary heat created, altho!gh the water will still boil in 2: or 1: min!tes, or a lot sooner i
yo! are !sing city water rom the tap. , !sed well water, and ran it or 2: min!tes with no problems. ,
yo! are getting e%cessive heat, switch to distilled water.
8eep in mind yo! won$t get as m!ch hydrogen gas !ntil the plates have had many many ho!rs o
conditioning, and a white resistive coating orms on the plates. "his powdery coating somehow
increases HHO o!tp!t, while decreasing c!rrent inp!t, and the res!lting heat. (lso, the longer yo!
charge water thro!gh electrolysis, the more power!l the o!tp!t gas is. "he irst b!bbles that come o
the !nit won$t e%plode violently. "he b!bbles that appear ater -: min!tes o charging, when the water
t!rns tan colored, are e%tremely e%plosive, to the point o being dangero!s to light witho!t hearing
protection. 2oe, the inventor o the 2oe cell, discovered this principle, and was able to r!n his car on
/charged water0 which seems to possess a new orm o energy. , don$t claim to !nderstand why charged
water prod!ces stronger b!bbles, b!t it does.
, had ?!st got done p!tting resh well water into this cell, that$s why there is water on the bench below
it. ,t$s not leaking. , took this pict!re to show the bottom r!bber pl!g that seals the 1'G0 hose barb
itting. "he hose barb itting is there or e%pansion p!rposes, i yo! want to scale !p the system, and
hook !p m!ltiple cells in series (not shown). "he hardware store sells these 1'G0 r!bber pl!gs. , wo!ld
advise drilling and tapping the bottom cap. Dse a -'G0 F;" male thread % 1'G0 brass hose barb itting,
and coat it with 1 wraps o telon tape and then screw it in. ;l!g the 1'G0 hose barb i yo! aren$t going
to !se it. +o! might need to !se it in the !t!re, and it$s easy to have it ready rather than trying to add it
later. ;l!s it cost practically nothing to p!t it on there.
Here are 1 identical 40 diameter water !el cells. "hey are made rom semi>clear ;CC pipe, with black
(#S sewer caps, gl!ed with Christy$s hot pipe gl!e, no primer needed. "he ;CC pipe sections are G0
long. , wo!ld not advise !sing ;CC, beca!se it deorms easily when water reaches 2-2@, the boiling
temperat!re o water. ;CC will work ok or the center section, b!t clear acrylic t!bing is totally
transparent. Or yo! can !se black (#S sewer pipe which seems to resist heat ?!st ine as well, altho!gh
yo! won$t be able to see inside. "he ;CC on the ar let has seen boiling water, and now it$s no longer
clear. "he heat obvio!sly damaged the ;CC. 7o not !se ;CC caps, or ittings, as , tried this several
times, and the parts will deorm severely, and ca!se a saety iss!e when they get hot. "he pipe in this
pict!re is called A%celon ;CC. ,t is not crystal clear, b!t it is transparent eno!gh to see what$s going on.
(ll the hose barbs are 1'G inch. "he black nylon barbs have -'G0 F;" threads. "he white I: degree
hose barbs on the top have -'40 thread, b!t -'G0 F;" wo!ld work ?!st as well. (Dse brass ittings, not
nylon, beca!se nylon can ail i it gets too hot). +o! can !se -'G0 F;" ittings on everything to save
money, beca!se yo! will most likely need to p!rchase a pipe thread tap, i yo! don$t already own one.
"here are some strange c!ts, and !nnecessary holes in the metal in these photos. 7on$t mind this. , am
!sing old let over pieces, so ignore the e%tra holes or grinding marks. However, ater yo! drill yo!r
stainless plates, yo! will need to /deb!r0 all the holes !sing a small grinding wheel, or a drill bit that is
larger than the hole. +o! don$t want sharp edges and b!rs on the holes, beca!se it can drastically change
the spacing between the plates.
Fow, yo! don$t need an air press!re ga!ge, b!t i yo! want to monitor the str!ct!ral integrity o yo!r
water !el cells, yo! will need a way o perorming a press!re test. "o do a press!re test, yo! can
simply cap yo!r o!tp!t hose (t!rn o the o!tp!t ball valve) and let the press!re b!ild. Ehen the
press!re b!ilds, let the cell sit or -6 min!tes. "here sho!ld be no e%cessive press!re drop, or hissing
so!nds. , yo! did a poor ?ob gl!ing yo!r ?oints, yo! will see water dripping o!t ater press!re b!ilds.
"his is ok, and the HHO torch will still work, b!t i yo! lose too m!ch press!re too &!ickly, it will
aect the operation o yo!r torch. Ee need to get every bit o gas we can to the torch, witho!t losing
some on the way. ,deally yo! sho!ld !se a m!ch larger ill pl!g on top. .y -'40 ill pl!g is diic!lt to
!se.
Ehen breaking in the cell, yo! won$t want to p!t the top cap on, beca!se yo! will want to change the
water several times. Shown in the pict!re above is 90 long piece o 1'G0 high press!re water hose. +o!
sho!ld heat the hose with a hair dryer or heat g!n, beore trying to p!t the hose on, beca!se it is very
diic!lt to work with. (t the end o the hose, we have a #r!ce Anergetics plastic lashback arrestor.
"his is my irst time !sing these lashback arrestors rom #r!ce Anergetics, however rom the reviews
,$ve seen rom others, they are very reliable, and don$t ail like /bron)e illed0 lashback arrestors,
which can catch ire. , tested these #r!ce Anergetics lashback arrestors, and they do work perectly.
,$m not s!re how they work as well as they do, b!t so ar, so good. 2!st to be sae, , !se 2 o them, in
addition to my /air stone0 lashback arrestor b!ilt into my torch tip. "he air stones completely stop
lashbacks as well.
You will need to decide the safest way to prevent flashbacks. HHO is very
dangerous and etre!ely eplosive. "f you build this device you do so at your
own risk. " cannot guarantee that any of the things shown in the photos will
be safe. This !ethod of flashback protection has worked very well for !e# but
that is not a guarantee of safety. $lease be careful. %lways wear eye protection
when working on these devices# preferably a plastic face shield.
"he torch is the easiest part to b!ild, however the no))le can be diic!lt to solder, i yo! have no
soldering or bra)ing ability. "his is a -'20 diameter brass nipple, 20 long. ,nside, there are 2 air stones
or a ish a&!ari!m. "he air stones are -'20 in diameter, and can p!rchased at any pet store. "he ones ,
!sed are bl!e, and they came in a package o 4 or J-.K6 at /Forthwest Seed and ;et0. "he ends are
-'20 emale F;" % -'40 emale F;".
"he air stones are installed into the end caps !sing black, grey or red high temperat!re a!tomotive
silicone. Coat the o!tside edges o the air stones in silicone, then p!sh the air stones all the way down
into the -'20 threaded end caps. +o! don$t need a lot o silicone, ?!st eno!gh to seal the o!tside
perimeter o the air stone to the threaded -'20 cap. "he idea is, yo! are orcing the HHO gas to travel
thro!gh the air stone, not aro!nd it. "his will prevent lashbacks. "here is more inormation on how to
b!ild the air stone lashback arrestor in the last section o this doc!ment.
+o! will need a -'40 F;" brass ball valve. "his sh!ts the gas o, and prevents a lashback rom
occ!rring when yo! are done !sing yo!r HHO torch. , yo! are not !sing a ball valve, something
interesting and dangero!s can happen. Ehen yo! sh!t o the electrical power to the water !el cell, the
hydrogen and o%ygen gas press!re is red!ced. Ehen the press!re is red!ced, the gas speed thro!gh the
no))le is too slow, and the lame will initiate a lashback. "he lashback protectors, i working, will
prevent a lashback, b!t the ball valve adds a margin o saety. Ehen yo! sh!t the ball valve o
&!ickly, the gas low is completely stopped. "he lame will still try to lashback into the hose, b!t it has
nowhere to go, since yo!$ve completely stopped the gas low, which is m!ch saer than depending on
the lashback valves to stop the gas low.
Eith the ball valve o, the lashback cannot travel into the water !el cell. +o! sho!ld always !se a ball
valve, or similar high &!ality metal gas valve. Fow, the #r!ce Anergetics lashback valves , had, were
1'G0 in diameter, and , didn$t want to !se 1'G0 hose, so , had to !se -'40 % 1'G0 barbed nylon co!plers,
in order to place my 2
nd
red!ndant check valve inline.
@or the torch tip yo! can !se a .,< welder tip, as it works the best. However, in the photos below , am
testing a motorcycle carb!retor ?et, which is appro%imately :.:26 or smaller. "he brass ?et does not
appear to work as well as a .,< welder copper tip, which seems to work better or some reason. ,t
co!ld be that copper, being a !ni&!e metal, with good heat transer and good electrical cond!ctivity, is
better s!ited or HHO gas.
, yo! want to e%periment with no))les yo! can. Dse whatever yo! have available, as long as it has a
very small oriice in it. +o! can p!rchase silver bra)e, and throw something together. Dse a propane
torch. Clamp yo!r ittings in a metal vice, and heat them orange hot, then apply yo!r silver bra)e.
Check the str!ct!ral integrity by cooling the parts, and then p!shing air thro!gh the parts yo! have
bra)ed to check or leaks. "here is no right or wrong way to bra)e a no))le, beca!se there are an
ininite n!mber o ways yo! can bra)e things, it is similar to welding. "he easiest thing to do however,
is !se a :.:1:0 copper .,< welding tip. "hen, p!rchase a -'40 F;" pipe pl!g. 7rill a small hole in the
top center o the -'40 pipe pl!g. ,nsert yo!r copper .,< tip and bra)e it to the pl!g. ("his is shown at
the end o this doc!ment).
Here is a bridge rectiier. ,t has 4 prongs. ,t hooks to yo!r -2: volt (C power o!tlet. +o! will now have
-2: volts 7C. +o! will not have a !ll -2: volts 7C, beca!se (C power p!lses at 9: cycles per second
(9: h)). "he p!lses will still occ!r, even ater yo! pass the (C power thro!gh the bridge rectiier. Ehat
this means is yo! are not getting tr!e 7C power, yo! are getting 9:h) p!lsed 7C. , yo! need more
power, yo! can get a high voltage capacitor, and hook !p a capacitor on the 7C side o the bridge
rectiier. "his will smooth the p!lses, to create tr!e 7C, which will send more energy into the water
!el cell. +o! sho!ld be able to create slightly more gas this way, altho!gh yo! will also get more heat,
and draw more c!rrent. , do not have tests comparing the p!lsed 7C to the straight -2: volt 7C power,
so , cannot tell yo! what the real dierence is in eiciency.
,n my set!p , ?!st !sed p!lsed 7C straight thro!gh a bridge rectiier, straight into the water !el cell. ,t
seems to work well. Ehat , have noticed is that by !sing 9:h) p!lsed 7C, the res!lting gas o!tp!t is
e%tremely power!l. "he b!bbles, when ignited, are always the #rown$s gas b!bbles, which are
e%tremely lo!d, similar to a g!nshot, when yo! ignite them. ,t co!ld be that p!lsed 7C helps to
acilitate the prod!ction o #rown$s gas, which is gas that has a speciic molec!lar conig!ration. .ore
testing is needed in this regard. uring testing, while using ! cells hoo"ed parallel #not in series$, with
tap water, with 1 output hose coming %rom the top o% the main cell, & produced the most e'plosive
bubbles &(ve ever heard. & had to wear hearing protection )ust to light the bubbles, because even a %ew
o% them on the sur%ace were dea%ening. &(ve tested a single cell e'tensively, and was never able to
produce bubbles that were this loud. &t would appear that having ! cells all running together at the
same time, sharing the same water, produces more power%ul gas than a single cell, although this is )ust
speculation.
Fow, as yo! can see, with tap water, -2: volts, and -- plates, we are only prod!cing abo!t :.4: liters o
gas per min!te. "his isn$t eno!gh or a strong lame, altho!gh it will maintain a very tiny s!stained

plates. "his will clean the plates, thro!gh electrolysis. R!n 7C power in one direction or 6 min!tes.
Fow po!r o!t the water and start with resh water. Fow reverse the polarity o yo!r inp!t power, and
r!n the cell or 6 min!tes. Repeat this process a total o 1 times, so yo! will be r!nning orwards or -6
min!tes, and backwards or -6 min!tes. "his will remove iron and other small metal particles on the
s!race o the plates which interere with the ormation o a white resistive coating. Once yo! have
done that, !sing electrical tape, a marker or label, mark one o the electrode bolts on the bottom as
/negative.0 Fow, never switch polarities again, beca!se the proper conditioning can only occ!r i yo!
apply straight 7C, in one direction, and maintain that polarity or the lie o the cell (never reverse the
polarity ater conditioning, it will reverse the conditioningH)
Fow, !sing resh clean water, witho!t chemicals apply 7C power in one direction !ntil the water is hot.
;o!r the water o!t and start with resh water, and charge it again !ntil the water gets hot. 7o not switch
polarities. Repeat this process 6 times. ,t sho!ld take abo!t - ho!r, or more depending on how &!ickly
yo!r cell heats !p. (ter this yo! will see a white coating beginning to orm on the plates. "he more
white coating yo! get, the better the water cell will !nction. Some chemicals can prevent the ormation
o this white coating. +o! do not want to !se any chemicals, i possible, beca!se the white coating is
what gives !s peak eiciency, and decreased c!rrent cons!mption (less heat).
Fow, ater yo! have conditioned the inal 6 times, yo! are ready to !se yo!r HHO welder. (s yo! !se
the water, it will become /charged0 and it will t!rn brown. "hat is ok. ,t act!ally prod!ces more
power!l gas, the longer yo! charge the water. Ehen the cell gets hot, either allow it too cool down, or
replace the water. ;lain drinking water or distilled water will always prod!ce !n!s!al brown particles
in the water, even tho!gh the water starts o!t very clean. ,t is not necessary to clean this brown resid!e
o!t o the water.
Ehen !sing the welder yo! need to monitor the temperat!re o the water. , it boils, immediately sh!t it
o, and leave the ball valve O;AF to relieve the press!re. Stand clear o the cell and let it cool down.
(ter it is cool, check or leaks or damage to the water !el cell. ;CC can be destroyed rom e%cessive
heat, that$s why , advocate not !sing ;CC.
"o !se yo!r HHO torch, yo! want to ind speciic applications. "esting on dierent metals and
materials will be necessary. #eca!se HHO gas reacts electrically with most materials, some materials
will heat very &!ickly, while other materials (like water) won$t heat at all. , have not welded, or bra)ed
!sing HHO, so , cannot oer advice in this regard.
%dditional $ictures and "nfor!ation
@or the water ill pl!g on top, yo! can !se a r!bber compression pl!g, one that has a screw in
the middle. "hey sell -0 pl!gs or boats at Ealmart, or any boat shop. R!bber pl!gs or boats
are designed to be re>tightened over and over, they are abo!t -0 in diameter, and have a lever to
tighten them. "his wo!ld work perect on yo!r HHO water !el cells. 2!st drill a -0 hole with a
hole saw (not a spade bit beca!se spade bit will chew !p the material, and it won$t seal). Having
a -0 ill hole is a lot easier than the -'40 pl!g that ,$ve !sed.
, yo! are !sing more than - cell, yo! will need to hook the cells together as shown in the image
below.
Ehen p!tting the 40 caps on, yo! will have leaks, !nless yo! !se 6 wraps o telon tape, wo!nd
clockwise over the threads. , yo! are acing the inside o a pipe, or a cap, yo! will always wind
telon in the clockwise direction, otherwise it !s!ally comes o as yo! tighten the threads.
Eash all yo!r stainless steel in hot soapy water and !se a scr!b br!sh to clean them the best yo!
can beore assembly. Dse r!bber gloves when assembling to avoid getting !nknown oils and
chemicals on the metal.
"his is a small acetylene torch. "he lame is deep bl!e. "his works better or silver bra)ing than
propane, beca!se it is very ast. +o! don$t see many people !sing torches like this. , bo!ght it beca!se it
had a nice single no))le torch tip on it. "he torch and reg!lator are still or sale, new online. "hey are
made by Dniweld. , yo! can prod!ce eno!gh HHO gas, yo! might be able to !se this single no))le
torch. "his wo!ld be perect or HHO, as long as the lame comes o!t properly. ,$ve seen people !sing a
torch similar to this, altho!gh , don$t know i they had to modiy it to work with HHO. "he
disadvantage to this torch design, is that it mi%es air with the !el gas. "hat$s ine i yo! are !sing a !el
gas. , yo! are !sing HHO, then yo! don$t need to mi% the lame with the o!tside air, beca!se the
o%ygen is already premi%ed. So , don$t know i this torch wo!ld work as it is, witho!t some
modiications, b!t it wo!ld be very easy to modiy, by pl!gging the open air holes at the base o the
no))le. "hen yo! wo!ld have to insert a very small :.:1:0 copper .,< tip on the end. "he main
beneit is that it wo!ld be easier to hold, and better looking than a homemade brass torch. "hat$s really
the only reason , p!rchased this torch.
Ehen p!tting together yo!r plates, yo! need to attach the side electrodes to the bottom cap @,RS",
otherwise yo! won$t be able to access the bolts. Once the side electrodes are in position, then yo! can
begin p!tting yo!r -- plates on, - at a time, and don$t orget the -'-90 nylon washers or spacing.
"he ollowing pict!res will show yo! how to make a reliable lashback arrestor, that works even i it
gets dirty, !nlike a check valve, which co!ld potentially ail i any debris gets ca!ght in it.
+o! need the ollowing parts to make yo!r own /air stone0 lashback arrestor.

> (-) "!be o high temperat!re a!tomotive grade black silicone (or grey or red).
+o! will begin by removing the plastic barb rom the air stones with a pair o pliers. +o! remove the
plastic, beca!se it isn$t necessary. ;lastic can catch ire i yo! have a lashback, so yo! sho!ld remove
the plastic, ?!st or saety. .y air stones do not look normal beca!se , accidentally broke them in a
previo!s installation !sing hot gl!e instead o silicone. 7o not !se hot gl!e, beca!se it doesn$t bond
well to brass. , had to grind my air stones down on my bench grinder to get them into !seable condition
again. +o!r air stones sho!ld look better than the ones in the pict!re.
+o! will p!t silicone aro!nd the o!tside o the air stones. ;!sh the air stones slowly into the -'20
co!pler, trying to get as close to centered as possible. "wist the air stone slightly to distrib!te the
silicone evenly. Fow, take the silicone and ill the remaining air gap aro!nd the air stone. Fow, screw
in yo!r -'20 brass pipe. "he brass pipe will p!sh the silicone down, and that$s what we want. #y having
a little e%tra silicone, yo! can be s!re that there is not going to be any HHO gas leaking past the sides
o the air stones. +o! want the HHO gas to be orced thro!gh the air stones which stops lashbacks.
(ter assembling, immediately tighten the brass ittings, beore the silicone begins to c!re. 7o not
shake the assembly, or drop it, as the air stones are only being held in place with silicone. Set it on its
side and allow it to c!re or at least 24 ho!rs beore yo! !se it. "he silicone reaches !ll strength in 24
ho!rs, even tho!gh it will appear to be c!red m!ch sooner than that. ,t isn$t worth the risk o !sing it
premat!rely, since we are dealing with the possibility o an e%plosion. ,t$s worth the waitH
Here is one method we can !se to make an HHO torch tip. Start with a -'G0 F;" pipe pl!g. "his one is
made rom steel, b!t a brass pipe pl!g wo!ld work ine too. Fe%t we will drill the center o the pipe
pl!g with a K'120 drill bit. Coat the .,< tip with some white silver bra)ing l!% on the threads. You
might be able to use plumbing solder %rom the local hardware store, and do this same process with
solder, however, it would be slightly less reliable, as solder has a melting temperature which is about
*++F, compared to 11++F %or silver bra,e.
(ter yo! have p!shed the .,< tip into the -'G0 pipe pl!g, yo! will want to wipe o any e%cess l!%.
"he bra)e will travel wherever there is l!%, and it will look !nsightly. Fow, heat the itting !ntil it is
orange hot. ,t will take a min!te or 2 to get the itting !p to that temperat!re. Ehen the itting is
glowing orange, apply yo!r silver bra)e wire. ("his process was impossible to doc!ment in its entirety
so , am showing yo! the inished prod!ct here).
+o! sho!ld be !sing clean silver bra)e wire with a thin coating o white l!% on the bra)ing wire itsel.
Ehen the itting is orange hot, to!ch the itting with one small dab o silver bra)e, and it will low into
the crevices and make a solid ?oint. +o! don$t have to man!ally go aro!nd the itting to cover the whole
thing, as silver bra)e lows like water into all the cracks, and orms a perect seal, every time, as long as
yo!r parts don$t have oil or grease on them.
