The expressivity of the two partners
is always sincere and totally convincing.
Rpertoire Magazine
Lauded for his remarkable stage presence, depth
of insight, nuance and generosity, cellist Yegor
Dyachkov is an inspired recitalist, chamber player and
concerto soloist. His long-standing partnership on
stage and on numerous recordings with pianist Jean
Saulnier has earned the duo recognition as one of the
most accomplished cello/piano tandems on the inter-
national scene. The richly imaginative interpretations
of the Dyachkov-Saulnier duo attest to an uncommon
unity of thought and feeling acquired throughout their
years of musical collaboration.
Theirs is the kind of dynamic, balanced partnership
that recharges chamber music. These two players
sense one anothers tiny games with time with mind-
reading ease. Its a soliloquy for two. [] you can
almost imagine the words between the lines.
Globe and Mail
The playing is terric technically, tonally,
and musically. The two artists unanimous ensemble
proves that they are regular partners who
succeed in combining virtuosity with close rapport
and in enjoying ourishing careers separately
and together.

Cello at the Crossroads
Yegor Dyachkov cello Jean Saulnier piano
The Dyachkov-Saulnier duo enjoys offering engaging and original
recitals that are sure to move and energize. This programme
combines thoughtful musical substance and pleasure. Schumanns
heartfelt Adagio and festive Allegro are followed by two short
pieces by Martinu. They provide an artful conduit between
classical and popular traditions, introducing listeners to the
world of Kapustins jazz and Piazzollas tango. Atonement by
the internationally-renowned Canadian composer Christos Hatzis
impressively fuses tango, jazz elements and a Jewish theme!
Profound emotion and sarcastic wit permeate expansive passages of
Shostakovichs Sonata, a great masterpiece of the chamber music
repertoire. Its Largo is arguably one of the most poignant lyrical
movements by the composer.
