Statement of Problem
From since the beginning of time, crime has alwas been a ma!or issue, As humans and
"nowledge advance, crime advances and so do the multi#le was of comitting crime$ %n
recent times, the occurence of crime in the Caribbean has even risen significantl$ Such
crimes include& murder, ra#e, arson, robberies and "idna##ing which can be classified as
serious crimes, while crimes such as #rostitution, vandalism and small-scale selling of
illegal drugs come under the classification of less serious crime$ 'es#ite the fact that
these crimes var in levels of im#ortance, the all im#act negativel on the communit
and can be detrimental to its growth$ For these reasons more ste#s must be into #lace and
#unishments for brea"ing the law enforced so as to curb crime$

Pur#ose of the +esearch
(he aim of this research is to find out how the #eo#le living in the )den Lodge area
#erceive the crime that ha##ens in their communit and how conscious the are of it$
Also, how it affects their dail lives$ Furthermore, what im#act the thin" it has on the
minds of outh in the communit$ Lastl, to discover and record the how the communit
has chosen to res#ond to the crimes and an #reventative measures #ut into #lace$

in their societ and what are their thoughts on it,

that surrounds them so that the can hel# do something more about it, which would in
turn hel# the commuit to grow$ Additionall, so that their lives would become safer and
more secure since the would be benefitting from a less crime-filled environment$ Also,
the research findings could be used b the #olice de#artment to aid in their efforts to
#rotect the #eo#le of Barbados b cutting down on crime$ All in all, i ho#e it would hel#
lead to a reduction in crime in Barbados$
