1. Each student will choose two different ani-
mal classifications and make a Venn dia-
gram comparing and contrasting them.
2. Each student will invent an imaginary animal
combining the characteristics of the two ani-
mal groups. Each student will draw a pic-
ture of his or her imaginary animal and write
a description of the animal including how
the animal would eat, grow and move.
3. Each student will choose a real animal from
one of the two groups and write a two-page
paper about that animal.
1. Each student will list the advantages and
disadvantages of characteristics of each of
the six classifications of animals. There
should be at least 3 advantages and 3 dis-
advantages for each classification.
2. Each student will invent an imaginary animal
combining the characteristics of three ani-
mal groups. Each student will draw a pic-
ture of his or her imaginary animal and write
a description of the animal including how
the animal would eat, grow and move.
3. Each student will choose an animal that
does not easily fit into one classification and
write a two-page report, including details
about how to classify the animal.
1. Students will work in heterogeneous groups
sharing their pictures and descriptions.
2. Students will participate in a game of animal
classification in a BlNGO format with the
teacher calling out characteristics and stu-
dents marking BlNGO cards filled with ani-
mals.
