On Sunday, Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital's Patient Family Council (PFC) hosted a fundraiser at the Carambola Golf and Country Club on St. Croix. The event featured a golf tournament and awards dinner to raise funds for upgrading the hospital's pediatric echocardiograph equipment.
Echocardiography is one of the most widely used diagnostic tests in cardiology. It is used in the diagnosis, management, and follow-up of patients with any suspected or known heart diseases.
Patient Family Council Chairperson Nancy Martin stated, "It's a pleasure to be part of this special event, benefitting the Juan Luis hospital's pediatric echocardiograph services. Especially given these difficult economic times, the financial support shown today is greatly appreciated and will go a long way in building morale and in fostering community partnerships. This is a wonderful example of how we can all work together to help uplift and restore the confidence in our island's hospital."
Martin described the primary goals of the Patient Family Council as engaging the community in support of JFL and facilitating an ongoing dialogue on Council and hospital strategic initiatives. She noted that by educating the community on Council efforts, members hope to raise awareness, create partnerships, and secure funding for critical projects.
JFL Hospital CEO Dr. Kendall Griffith applauded the efforts of the Patient Family Council in organizing the event. He also thanked the participants, donors and sponsors who gave their time and money toward this worthwhile cause.
Griffith said, "I am incredibly grateful to the community for this strong show of support and for taking the time to help make a difference for JFL."
