1.0 COURSE INFORMATION

COURSE NAME : CHEMICAL PROCESS PRINCIPLES II
COURSE CODE : CHE 531
PROGRAM : EH220
SEMESTER : 3
CREDIT HOURS : 3.0
CONTACT HOURS : 4.0
COURSE STATUS : CORE
PRE-REQUISITE : CHEMICAL PROCESS PRINCIPLES I

2.0 SYNOPSIS
This course is a continuation of Chemical Process Principle I. The students are exposed to
advanced material and energy balance concepts to solve problems of unit operations in
chemical processing for both steady and unsteady state systems. The students are also
exposed to the application of specific chemical engineering software to solve material and
energy balances.

3.0 OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:

1. Ability to employ and solve material and energy balances on non-reactive
processes.
2. Ability to employ and solve material and energy balances on reactive
processes.
3. Ability to formulate and solve material and energy balances to processes that
are in transient state.

4.0 METHODS OF INSTRUCTION
Lecture and tutorial
Lecture : 3 hrs/wk
Tutorial : 1 hrs/wk
