OCTOBER COUNCIL HIGHLIGHTS The St. Johns Council moved forward on calling a new Senior Pastor at the October 15 th
meeting. On a unanimous roll call vote, the council approved forming a Call Committee. Following that vote, the council nominated a large field of candidates and then narrowed the field down by age and gender. The council then voted unanimously on another roll call vote to charge the Executive Committee with forming the final committee and balance it by gender and age groups. The council also was challenged to take additional devotion pages to write and reminded of the October 20 th deadline. The devotional booklet will be available by November 1 st . Pastor David started the meeting with pictures from the groundbreaking for St. Johns current building 50 years ago. The council was challenged to think about how they would have felt if they were part of that groundbreaking. A complete copy of the minutes is available by mail or email by contacting the church office.
Lutheran World Relief In-Gathering November 3 6, 2014 9AM 1PM St. Johns continues to be blessed as a drop-off location for LWR In-Gathering items: personal care kits, sewing kits, school kits and quilts -- brought here from churches from all over NE Nebraska to be shipped to anyplace needed in the world through Lutheran World Relief efforts. We are looking for volunteers who can help receive items brought to St. Johns during the week of November 3-6 from 9am-1pm each day. Men are especially needed to help with the boxes. With only 2 weeks until the In- Gathering and several of our regulars out of commission, we can certainly use help! If you can help only one day or for a few hours that, too, is helpful. Please prayerfully consider helping with this annual event to help make a difference!
