Bosch added by increasing the security level an another constant for password-calculation of the
TriCore processor. In order to use this constant for the calculation, you will need to read this first
through CAN from the ECU without boot mode.
We recommend you to use the MEDC17 adapter by www.byteshooter.de. This is available soon and
available for all common MED/EDC17 similar to the BDM port.
If no adapter is present, it should be noted that the new constant WITHOUT Boot mode must be
read. That may mean the Bootpin (resistors) cannot be connected.
To read the rest of the content must be just the Bootpin be connected.

LESEVORGANG:

Open the control unit and connect the MEDC17 adapter with the control unit:
Switch position Power: OFF
Switch position Ignition: ON
Now select Toolbox, OBD Tools, EDC/MED17 VAG, Bosch VAG_MEDC17_Boschpw.
Now put the switch in ON position and press READ.

The password will be read after 1 minute - please save this file on your computer.
In this example: passwd.bin
Now switch position Power: OFF

Connect the Bootpin MEDC17 with the adapter (see boot images).
Now: switch position Ignition: Kline
Switch position Power: ON
Menu item according to the present ECU. In this example a MED17.1 of VAG 2.0TSI
TC1796_int_r_can
Select the check mark next to PW Manuel!

Now press read.
A window will pop up in which passwd.bin is selected.


If the correct file is selected, Byteshooter will quit with a message.


Press ok.

The new constant "passwd.bin" will taken and be used, and the ECU will be read as
usual.

WRITING PROCESS:

now select the tuningfile. The checksums MUST be corrected in the file as before.


prompt will popup a window, please select passwd.bin
