STAIR WAY TO BEACH: A pub lic stair way leads to the beach at 31344 Broad Beach Rd.;
open sun rise to sun set. Pri vate prop erty on ei ther side; do not tres pass.
WALK WAY AND STEPS TO BEACH: A ce ment walk way and steps lead to the beach at
31200 Broad Beach Road. Pri vate prop erty on ei ther side; do not tres pass. Lim ited street
park ing.
ZUMA BEACH COUNTY PARK: Wide, sandy beach on the west side of Point Dume out side
Santa Monica Bay; L.A.s larg est county-owned beach. Fa cil i ties in clude swings, out door
show ers, dress ing rooms, restrooms, food con ces sions, sand vol ley ball courts, and a large
park ing lot; fee. Rough surf; surf ing and div ing. Two beach wheel chairs are kept at the
beach, call for avail abil ity. Zuma Life guard Head quar ters: (310) 457-2525.
POINT DUME WHALE WATCH: A stair way at West ward Beach Rd. and Birdview Rd. leads
up to the whale watch, which has benches and pro vides a view of the ocean. Stair way be gins
next to the res tau rant.
POINT DUME STATE BEACH: Good swim ming, surf ing, div ing, and tidepools; sand stone
cliffs. Beach closes at dark. Fee park ing lot, out door shower, and restrooms are lo cated at
the south east end of the beach. Ac cess is also avail able from Zuma Beach to the north west.
Beach is ad ja cent to the Point Dume Head lands, where there are in for mal trails.
POINT DUME STATE PRE SERVE: Head lands pro vide out stand ing views, par tic u larly dur -
ing whale mi gra tion. Des ig nated park ing spaces along Cliffside Drive. Shut tle avail able from
City of Mali bu. Trail sys tem pre serves the bluff/sand dune hab i tat; stair way leads down to Lit -
tle Dume Beach.

Buffers: Some recorded grants of lateral public access provide for a "buffer" between authorized development on a
property and the portion of the property available for public access. However, the public's right, under California
law, to use lands seaward of the mean high tide line takes precedence over any buffer included in a grant of public
access, so any buffers apply only landward of the mean high tide line. A buffer extends a designated distance
seaward from authorized development (i.e., approved deck, seawall, or structure) on the property and is noted in the
brief access description. In some cases, due to space constraints, the following descriptions of buffers for
individual properties are included as footnotes:
(a) Excluding a 5 ft. buffer from authorized development
(b) Excluding a 10 ft. buffer from authorized development
(c) Excluding a 50 ft. buffer from the residential structure
