FOLLOWING THE RECENT ATTACK ON SECURITY
PERSONNEL IN BARINGO COUNTY
Over the last four months the security situation in the country has
stabilized signifcantly. This improvement has been a result of
laudable eforts by our security forces, and for this we all remain
grateful.
This notwithstanding, my attention has been called by the
heinous attacks on the security personnel in the North ift,
namely!

October "#$% at around $"pm, while transporting
e&amination papers for our children, a motor vehicle
belonging to 'apedo (i&ed )econdary )chool was attacked
at *musing +rift. ,n this attack two police o-cers were
targeted and sustained in.uries. *t the same time, the
vehicle was burned down and e&amination papers destroyed.

October "#$% armed bandits attacked two
vehicles belonging to the 0eneral )ervice 1nit 20)13, and
killed three 243 0)1 o-cers, two 2"3 civilians and in.ured one
2$3 o-cer. *dditionally, the o-cers were stripped of their
uniforms and their frearms taken away.
This attack, on the state and the security forces of the epublic of
'enya are a threat to our stability and undermine the epitome of
authority in all civilized society, the world over. )uch attacks are
inconceivable, unacceptable and will not be tolerated at any cost,
by my administration.
5e will not accept any prete&t, including the e&cuse of cattle
rustling to harm our forces, our people or destroy property
anywhere in this country.
6onse7uently, , want to state clearly that those involved in these
heinous acts will face the full force of the law. The 0overnment
will not stop until the barbaric, primitive criminals are brought to
book. *lready, a ma.or operation is underway in the area. ,n this
respect, , encourage all o-cers involved to ensure that the
criminals are apprehended and processed accordingly. , also call
upon our security forces to employ all measures necessary, within
the rule of law, to maintain sustainable security within our
country.
*s the 0overnment moves to deal with the criminals, local leaders
and residents must also play their part in ensuring security in
their localities. 5e must always remember that security is a
shared responsibility, and that each and every 'enyan must
remain their brothers and sisters keeper.
8inally, and most importantly, , take the opportunity to condole
with the families, relatives and friends of those who lost their lives
in the attack, and assure them of the full support of my
0overnment.
