School Experience Narrative Report

The heat of the midday sun was unbearable.

I arrived at St. Peters College around 12 Noon. I was in a hurry. I forgot take my meals so I
bought a Buko Juice and a Kwek-kwek from the street vendors outside the school. I then went to the
old Punongbayan Building to prey upon the potential rooms that I will be observing. I saw Maam
Lovelyn V. Aviles in one of the rooms. She was in the Grade 7 Aphrodite room along with some Teachers
Certificate Program (TCP) Students. The said TCP students were busy preparing for their scheduled class
Demo. Some were unrolling their cartolina visual aids. Others were setting up the laptop and projector
for their Powerpoint presentations. And another was talking to the students to know them better. We
had a little chat to two of the TCP students. They were clearly nervous. Maam Lovelyn and I assured
them that they will be okay. We wished them good luck. Then we transferred to the room of Grade 8
Hera to have our class observations there.

Grade 8 Hera is a classroom that has 62 students. The room is a hot mess ventilated by a wall
fan, a ceiling fan and a huge industrial fan that needs to be fuelled with water in order to function
properly. That industrial fan is placed at the back of the room. We were seated at the back of that fan so
its wind was of no use to us. The Class Adviser Maam Cali was there as well as an Araling Panlipunan
TCP student. We chatted a lot. I have learned that Maam Cali is a neighbour. Its such a small world. The
TCP Student was nervous. She was scheduled to have her Demo at 3 PM in that classroom. She had
numerous cartolina visual aids for her presentation as well as a roll of Goldilocks Choco Cake for the
panel that will observe her.


First Period came. It was the Values Ed. Class of Maam Teopez. Her topic was about the Bible
and Quran verses. She had pre-assigned groups to read some verses in front of the class. Most of the
students were noisy. The teacher got irritated because of the commotion. Most of the students were
not following their designated seat plans as well. She had a little difficulty managing the students at first,
but it turned out right in the end.




Second Period. It was the TLE class of Sir Dadap. His lesson was about the Basic Enterpreneurial
Concepts. He asked his students to read the page 397 of their books. Again the students were very noisy
and were not paying attention. Good thing Sir Dadap has employed a lot of strategies like hooking the
attention of the students to manage them. He maximized the use of the blackboard which is a good
thing. After his class we had to transfer to another room since the TCP student will have her Demo. We
wished her good luck and proceeded to our way.













While Maam Lovelyn and I were walking down the hallway, we saw Sir Aliser. I was quite taken
aback since I didnt know he was teaching in this school. Sir Aliser was a fellow La Salle Academy Teacher
of mine. I was assigned in the Night High School Department and he was in the Day Department. We had
a little chat while in the hallway. I then asked him where his next class will be because wed be happy to
tag along if it is okay with him if we do so. Good thing he agreed. He had his class in Grade 7 Athena. It is
a small classroom with a manageable number of students. It is also well ventilated since the windows
facing the south western side were constantly bombarded by the afternoon breeze. Sir Aliser
proceeded with his PE class. His topic was about the Folk Arts in Luzon and he asked his students to use
their books and read page 98. The students were very participative. Sir Aliser gave opportunities for the
students to share their thoughts. He allowed them to read what was written in the book and asked them
to expound what they have read in their own words. He clearly possesses mastery of the lesson. And if
there were misdemeanors, Sir Aliser would not shout or rant or curse in order to control the students.
Rather he makes use of non-verbal methods so that the students will behave.



Our class observations for that day were finished. Maam Lovelyn, Sir Jose and I roamed around
the campus to check the cited facilities in our FS Books. We photocopied some of the test papers,
brochures, survey questionnaires, booklets and other printed materials that are required in the FS
Episodes. And then we discussed how to answer the Episodes and shared our ideas and opinions about
the course. We all agreed that doing the Episodes is hard to accomplish, but as the old adage say, there
is No pain no gain right? I am excited for tomorrows class observations. Maybe Ill meet new teachers
who turn out to be my neighbours and maybe a bunch of cute TCP Students. That would really make my
day.
