suckerPUNCH: describe your project.
andrew TTRAULT / ben LEE: An air purifying infrastructure for New York City.
We have re-appropriated the contemporary obsession with sustainability through the design of a new type of cultural and ecological
infrastructure. A project that blends a necessity for a pure, clean, livable, breathable city with the need for a new interpretation of public space.
Bubble Wrap is a parasite powered by the excess energy of public transit and the exhaust pollution from our cars and buildings. It provides us
with a public space, an air-purifying utility, and a cultural venue.

This project was inspired by contemporary modes of phytoremediation and plant assisted air purification. Techniques and models such as the
Andrea Filter helped to focus our approach and design strategy towards a building that would utilize natural plant processes to purify air on a
neighborhood scale. Bubble Wrap deploys a series of planted pods positioned to take in and de-pollute toxic city air, re-releasing it at street
level. Air is collected from subway exhaust via an extensive chimney system and at street level through the building facade. The plant pods
effectively sequester harmful airborne toxins and become a new large scale air filter and purifier. The moments of delamination within the pod
simultaneously act as filter and public venue. Bubble Wrap stimulates a new type of productive ecology for our contemporary city and gives us a
new model with which to re-design and re-imagine our efforts towards a sustainable future.

This project rocks! Nice to see a project focusing on sustainability without any of the clerestory visual cliches.

The next time I learn a blog, I hope that it doesnt disappoint me as much as this one. I imply, I know it was my choice to read, but I truly
thought youd have something attention-grabbing to say. All I hear is a bunch of whining about one thing that you can repair in the event
you werent too busy in search of attention.
