1.0 INTRODUCTION

Utusan Melayu (Malaysia) Berhad is one of the indigenous companies registered in
Bursa Malaysia. The principal activities of the Company are the publication, printing and
distribution of newspapers. The principal activities of the subsidiaries are publications and
distribution of books and magazines, commercial printing, information technology and
multimedia and investment holding. UTUSAN publishes magazines, books and the Utusan
Melayu, one of the well-known daily newspapers in Malaysia. The Company is also involved
in printing, advertising, information technology, multi-media and the electronic.
Vision of the company is to be the leading multiple media communications company
of choice. The mission of the Utusan Melayu (Malaysia) Berhad first to be continuously
develop and offer innovative and quality product and services through the application of
leading edge technology. Second to develop competent, knowledge and motivated workforce
through comprehensive human resource management. Third, to adopt good industrial
practices throughout the group whilst caring for the environment. Lastly is to establish
strategic alliances with local and foreign patners so as to acquire global access to leading
edge technology and increase market reach.
