MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE
OF SIGNALLING GEARS
Introduction
REVERSERS
1. Check oiling of all F M Q
moving parts. Ensure oil
holes are not clogged by
dirt or excessive oil.
Lubricate with axle oil
medium to IS:1628-ball
bearing must be greased
with graphited
grease(grease A no. 0 to
IS:408
2. Remove the dash pot ---- --- Y
assembly from reverser
and check if the oil level
is lower than 35mm
above of the sliding
cylinder. Insulation oil
for transformer to IS:
335 shall be used for
topping up. As the gap
between sliding cylinder
and plunger is very little,
any sludge in the oil will
block the passage and
may affect the
functioning of dash pot.
If the oil is found to be
sludgy, it shall be
removed. Check the
dash pot spring is not
broken or cracked.
DETECTORS
1. Check the signal wires to the F M Q
detectors are in alignment and
check when the signal is
returned to ON all signal
slides are travelling back to
their stops
2. Check for obstruction test W M Q
3. Lubricate the detector slides W M Q
thoroughly check the cross
slides for any undue play.
Also check the detectors are
fixed rigidly.
