Joint Strength
USES
For high strength bonding of common construction materials:
Concrete, Metals, Asbestos, Glass, Timber, Rubber, Plastics,
Ceramics, etc. NITOFIX is particularly suitable for the repair
of damaged items with closely fitting joint surfaces requiring a
fine glue-line, e.g. Ceramic Repairs, Timber Joints, Fixing of
Laminates/Veneers etc.

Description
NITOFIX is an easily worked multi-purpose medium viscosity
adhesive based on solvent-free epoxy resins. It is supplied
as a two-pack material which on mixing cures to a high
strength, oil, water and chemical resisting film with
exceptional adhesive properties
= 10 mins
APPLICATION
Preparation
Surfaces to be bonded should be dry, sound and thoroughly
clean. Smooth surfaces should be abraded or acid etched as
appropriate see below.
Surface
Concrete Asbestos
Cement etc.
Metals Steel, Brass,
Stainless Steel,
Copper etc.
Glass, Ceramics

o
than 20 C
full cure
24 hours as above stronger joints will be
achieved if the joints are warmed to a

maximum of 100 C during the curing
period. At this temperature the cure will
be completed in 20 minutes
Temperature
Curing takes place at temperatures

Aggregates.
Degrease, Abrade or Acid Etch
Mixing
Equal quantities of each component should be scooped
from the tins and mixed together thoroughly in a pliable
polythene beaker or disposable unwaxed cardbooard
carton with a spatula or palette knife. To avoid waste,
only sufficient material for the work in hand should be
mixed.
Bonding
The mixed NITOFIX is applied to both surfaces in a thin
even film and the two surfaces brought together. An
adhesive layer of between 1 25 and 250 microns
should be used. Care should be taken to position the
bond surfaces correctly, as cured joints can only be
broken down with difficulty. Excess pressure to the joint
is to be avoided to prevent extrusion of the adhesive,
but light clamping or suitable support is necessary.
Before leaving the adhesive to cure, excess glue
should be removed from the joints with a sharp knife.
Solvent should not be used for this work as it may
remove NITOFIX from the joint itself.
CLEANING
Tools and equipment should be cleaned with FOSROC
SOLVENT 102 immediately after use.
