Jane N Dhulchaointigh, Inventor and CEO, sugru

Jane N Dhulchaointigh is the Irish inventor of sugru (inspired by the Irish word for play),
an innovative product that was named alongside the iPad by TIME magazine as one
of the top 50 inventions of 2010.
Jane came up with her business idea in 2003 while studying product design at the Royal
College of Art in London. She wanted to create a problem-solving product that would
be an easy and fun way for people to repair and modify every-day objects.
After six years of R&D and lots of determination, she came up with sugru, a brand new
silicone product that can be formed into any shape before hardening into a tough, flexible, colourful silicone rubber. Used in this
way, it can make all kinds of products more comfortable, safer or simply better.
The idea caught on and since its launch, more than 500,000 people in 157 countries have discovered sugru and are sharing
the creative solutions it has helped them to find.
Jane's story of building and launching a successful SME is an inspiration to budding inventors and entrepreneurs everywhere
and her passion and determination have clearly been key factors to her success. My advice to someone who has an idea or wants to
invent a new product is if they are passionate about it, go for it, she says. Find out more at www.sugru.com
