Academic Crime.
The medium of the course is English. Assignment in Urdu or Roman
languages will not be accepted.
Assignment means Comprehensive yet precise accurate details
about
the
given
topic
quoting
different
sources
(books/articles/websites etc.). Do not rely only on handouts. You can
take data/information from different authentic sources (like books,
magazines, website etc) BUT express/organize all the collected
material in YOUR OWN WORDS. Only then you will get good marks.

Objective(s) of this Assignment:

The assignment is being uploaded to build up the students concepts

regarding data and manipulation of data.
This assignment will strengthen the basic idea about the concept of
measure of central tendency.

Assignment.1 (Lessons 1-9)

Question 1:
Marks: 3+2+2=7
The following data shows the ages of 50 cancer patients admitted in Shaukat Khanam Memorial Hospital,
Lahore.

46 30 20 44 47 39 42 35 33 47

38 41 44 47 45 45 52 43 44 43
Make a frequency distribution and also find class boundaries and mid points.(take interval 5,starting from
20 as lower value).
Solution 1:
We will start building classes from 20 as this is the smallest value in our Dataset.
For Class Boundaries ((20-.05) (24+.05)) = 19.5 24.5 and so on.
For finding Mid Points (19.5+24.5)/2=22 and so on.

Compute Mean and Mode from the following data.

Solution 2:
Mean:
For Class Boundaries ((0.7312-0.00005) (0.7313+0.00005)) = 0.73115 0.73135 and so on.
For finding Mid Points (0.73115 + 0.73135) / 2 = 0.73125 and so on.

Mode:
Calculating Class Boundaries ((0.7312-0.00005) (0.7313+0.00005)) = 0.73115 0.73135 and so on.

For finding Mode of grouped data we use following formula

X= l

( fm f 1)
*h
( fm f 1) ( fm f 2)

First we need to determine its modal class (fm). Modal Class has the highest frequency, which is 30 in our case.
f1 is the frequency of the preceding class of modal class, which is 25 in our case.
f2 is the frequency of the succeeding class of modal class, which is 8 in our case.
l is the lower limit of modal class, which is 0.73195 in our case.
h is the size of class interval, which is (0.73135-0.73115 = 0.0002)in our case.
(30 25)
*0.0002
(30 25) (30 8)

*0.0002
X = 0.73195
(5) (22)
X = 0.73195 + (0.18519 * 0.0002)
X = 0.73195

X = 0.73195 + 0.00004
X = 0.73199
