Rates & Fees

If you need additional information on your bill, please feel free to call our office at 866-BANDERA. Please note that
because Bandera Electric is a not-for-profit cooperative, there are no discounts for senior citizens, active/inactive
military, disabled persons, etc. We are owned by our member-owners and give every member-owner the lowest rate
possible.
General Service - Single-Phase and Three-Phase Service - The Cooperative monitors the load. If it is determined that
the peak kW demand is equal to or greater than 50 kW for three (3) months or more during the twelve month period
preceding the current billing period, then the account will be transferred to the Large Power rate.
Minimum Charge - Each billing period the member shall be obligated to pay the following charges as a minimum,
whether or not any energy is actually used: 1) The Availability Charge; and 2) Any applicable billing adjustments; and
3) Any applicable service fees.
Wind Works - The Cooperatives Renewable Power Rate will be calculated by taking the total cost of generation,
transmission, ERCOT and other related charges and dividing by the delivered cost per kWh, plus estimated
distribution line loss. Rate is subject to a Renewable Power Cost Adjustment (RPCA). The RPCA will be adjusted once
each calendar year, the amount of the adjustment will be established no later than March 1.
Time Based Usage - With time based usage rates, electric charges vary based on the time of day and the season
unlike flat electric rates where you are charged the same amount for electricity no matter when you use it. This
voluntary program is designed to allow our members to reduce their energy bill by shifting their usage from on-peak
to off-peak hours.

Distributed Generation - Avoided wholesale power cost will be calculated by dividing the prior years total power
purchase cost (excluding demand costs, transmission costs, ERCOT and related fees, and distribution costs) by the
prior years total kWhs purchased. The avoided cost will be adjusted once each calendar year, and the amount of
the adjustment will be established no later than March 1.

Large Power Service - Members whose peak demand was equal to or greater than 50 kW for three (3) months or
more during the twelve month period preceding the current billing. Any new account with a transformer capacity of
50 kVA or greater that has not established a prior service history with the Cooperative shall be classified under the
appropriate rate schedule in accordance with a demand estimate performed by the Cooperative. If an accounts
highest kW load has been less than 50 kW more than nine (9) times in a twelve month billing period, that account
will be placed on the General Service rate.
