chosen cloud type

Introduction:
The teacher will turn on the projector and pull down projector screen. The teacher
will access Prezi.com (password attached), click on Cloud Type which will project
Bell Ringer question onto the screen. The teacher will instruct students to begin
the Bell Ringer and to write down the question and the answer; the teacher will
instruct students they have two minutes to complete and when finished, to raise
their hand. The teacher will circulate the room and check for completion and inkstamp approval of answers. The teacher will move to next Prezi slide. The teacher
will show and explain the lesson objectives. The teacher will read the lesson
objectives to the students. The teacher will go to and read the next Prezi slide, which
will have the agenda:
Bell Ringer
Cloud Type Website
Cloud Type Flashcards on Quizlet
Begin Prezi of chosen cloud type
Following agenda, the teacher will ask students to raise their hand if they have ever
been in a cloud. The teacher will explain that fog is actually a type of cloud called
Stratus Cloud. The teacher will explain that todays class will focus on clouds and
that it will include internet resources that can be useful for information gathering,
studying and will culminate in a Prezi presentation they will create on their chosen
cloud type.

Instruction:
The teacher will instruct students to go to website:
http://student.plattsburgh.edu/buke1447/index.html
The teacher will ask students to raise their hand once they have accessed the
website. When students are at the website, the teacher will instruct students to
click on the resources tab, and then click on the Cloud Typing link:
http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/labs/lab/cloud/research/classification/. The
teacher will ask two students to repeat the directions (CFU-directions).
When students have accessed the Cloud Typing website, the teacher will instruct
students to watch and listen to teacher instructions and then students will use. The
teacher will click Begin and explain to students that you are now presented with
various pictures of cloud types. The teacher will explain that if you click the icon on
the bottom left-hand corner, it makes the picture larger, along with the location of
where the picture was taken. The teacher will ask two students to repeat the
directions (CFU-directions). The teacher will explain that in the other corner,
bottom-right-hand, there is a statement Which cloud type do you see here? The
teacher will also point out that there is a gray-colored box that states, Classify
The teacher will explain that if students click on the down arrow box, a list of the
major cloud types will appear and you click on the cloud type you see in the picture
and then click Submit. The teacher will ask two students to explain the directions
(CFU-directions). The teacher will explain that is students are unsure what cloud
type to choose, students can click on the white cloud icon with the word Key and
upward-facing arrow. The teacher will explain that other small pictures of clouds
appear and that by clicking on the picture, you can read the information of that
particular cloud type and then go back to the main picture and try to determine
which cloud type is present and then choose and click Submit. The teacher will
ask two students to explain the directions (CFU-directions).
The teacher will hand out Cloud Typing worksheet and will instruct students to put
their name and period number on it. The teacher will ask two students to explain
the directions (CFU-directions).
The teacher will instruct students to use the Cloud Typing website to complete the
worksheet by finding the picture on the worksheet with the picture on the website
and to fill-in the area of the worksheet that states Cloud Type:______. The teacher
will explain to students that the pictures go in order between the website and the
worksheet. The teacher will ask two students to explain the directions (CFUdirections). The teacher will then instruct students to raise their hand if assistance
is needed and that they have approximately 5 minutes to work on the worksheet.
The teacher will circulate the room and offer advice and encouragement to students.
The teacher will advise students after 5 minutes that they have 1 minute remaining
and to finish what they are currently working on. After 1 minute, the teacher will
then go over the answers to the worksheet by using volunteer sticks to choose
students to answer. The teacher will explain that if answers are incorrect, students
will need to write in correct answers. After worksheet has been gone over, the

teacher will instruct one student to go back to the teachers website and to click the
resources tab, and then to the link: http://quizlet.com/58275842/flashcards.
The teacher will instruct students that once are at the website, to raise their hand so
the teacher will know when to proceed. The teacher will ask two students to explain
the directions (CFU-directions). When the students are at the website the teacher
will instruct students that these flashcards will be useful to study and to be thinking
about what cloud type they would like to create a Prezi on and if any information is
intriguing, to write it down and include it within their Prezi. The teacher will
explain that the flashcards are to be worked on as a pair and both students should
be participating and that the teacher will be circulating the room to ensure
participation and to answer questions. The teacher will instruct the students that a
question will appear on the flashcard and that the students are to work together in a
pair to brainstorm answer. The teacher will explain that to reveal the answer,
students should move the mouse arrow over the flashcard and then click. To move
to the next flashcard question, students will need to again click on the flashcard.
The teacher will ask two students to explain the directions (CFU-directions). The
teacher will explain to students that they have 5 minutes to work on the flashcards
and if they complete before time ends, they are to start again.
The teacher will use Class, Yes to get students attention. The teacher will explain
to the students that now they have become knowledgeable of various cloud types,
they are now going to use that knowledge to create a Prezi presentation of a chosen
cloud type that will be presented to the class at a later date.
The teacher will show students a demonstration of a Cloud Type presentation. The
teacher will instruct students that the presentation must consist of 1 cloud type and
have various pictures of that cloud type and information on its characteristics
(shape, consistency water, ice, combination), how and where it forms in the
atmosphere and the weather associated with its occurrence.
The teacher will instruct students to go to the Prezi website: http://prezi.com/ and
will instruct students on how to create an account that will only be used for the
purposes on this presentation. The teacher will ask two students to explain the
directions (CFU-directions). The teacher will ask the students to raise their hand
once they have created an account and have accessed the website.
