Dear John Novak:
We received your public records request on November 6, 2014 for the following records: Regarding DOH taking bids to set up a patient registry for medical marijuana You would like all documents, correspondence, etc. related to this bid and setting up a registry for authorization of patients, from March 14, 2014 to present. The agency is not taking bids at present. Past legislation has identified DOH as the agency responsible for implementation of all or part of such regulation by creating and managing a medical marijuana registry and database. Although those efforts did not come to fruition, in anticipation of future legislation passing, we are being proactive by conducting a Request for Information (RFI) process. That means that the agency is trying to determine whether there is an existing system which will fulfill the requirements of the system the legislature has proposed, and what the costs of such an endeavor would be for the agency. The RFI is currently in process, and until such time as it has been completed, documents related to it are not available for public disclosure. Since the records you requested are not available at this time, this request is closed. If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact me or our office via email at Molly.Zirpel@DOH.WA.GOV or at (360) 236-4502. Sincerely, /s/Molly Zirpel Molly Zirpel, Administrative Assistant
