Quick Facts About Surah Naas

Suratun-Naas was revealed in Makkah.

Suratun-Naas is the last surah in the Qur'aan.
Meaning of Naas- Mankind

So what is Surah Naas all about?

Suratun-Naas tells us how to ask Allah for protection

from the whispers of Shaytaan and his helpers!

The special thing about Surah Naas is that

Suratun-Naas is one of the two surahs calledAl-Moo-aw-wi-tha-tayn

This name means The Two Protectors
Surah-Naas and Surah-Falaq are two surahs that we should recite to ask for protection
,So Rasulullah used to call them both together Al-Moo`awwithatayn,
(The Two Protectors)

Why do we need protection?

If you wanted to lock a cabinet to keep your things safe inside,

you would probably use one lock and that would be enough, right?
What about if you put two locks? It would be super safe!
Well, Allah wants us to be super safe too! So He has given us two locks to protect us.
When we use both locks, by reciting both of these surahs together, then we will be
super safe from harm, insha-Allah!

Rasulullah used to recite the Moo`awwithatayn for protection!

Rasulullah loved reciting them so much that he would recite them 3 times
every night before he went to sleep!
Rasulullahs wife, Aishah (r.a)said that before he went to bed he would blow into
his hands, recite theMoo`awwithatayn (and Suratul-Ikhlaas),and then wipe his
hands over his whole body (head and face first, then the front of his body, then as
far as he could
reach).
Rasulullah would also recite the Moo`awwithatayn at other times as well.
When he was sick, he would recite them and rub his hands on his body If he was
too sick to do it himself, his wife would do it for him, it is that important!
Do you recite the Moo`awwithatayn before you go to bed?
And when you are sick?

A story about black magic

Many of the ayaat (verses) in the Quraan have a story behind them that tells why
they were revealed.
These stories are calledAsbaabAn-Noozool
Some people wanted to harm Rasulullah because they did not like Islaam
One of these people was a man named Labid ibn Al-A'sam. He wanted to use
black magic to harm Rasulullah. So, he asked Rasulullah's servant boy to get some
strands of hair, as well as a few teeth, from the comb of the blessed Prophet.
The boy did so, and Labid used these items, along with a string that he had tied
with eleven knots, to cast a magic spell on the Rasulullah.
Labid then hid the knotted string and hair inside of a well. The magic spell made
Rasulullah think that he had done things he had not really done, and he felt ill for
quite awhile.
Rasulullah asked Allah for help. So, Allah sent two angels in a dream
to tell Rasulullah about the black magic and where it was located.
Right away Rasulullah sent some men to look for it, and it was
exactly where the angels had said it would be. It was because of this
event that Allah revealed Suratun-Naas and Suratul-Falaq,
together known as the Moo'awwithatayn(Two Protectors).
When Rasulullah recited the two surahs, the spell was broken and his illness was
cured!

So now let's learn what Allah taught Rasulullah to say in Surah-Naas that
protected him, and will protect us as well,insha-Allah

Allah tells us exactly what to say in order to be protected...First, we say that we are asking
Allah to protect us. We are not asking protection from anyone else, like a policeman, or
a teacher, or an Imaam, or even our mommy and daddy.
Although all of those people are very important and can do things to help us in many
ways, only Allah can protect us.

Allah is the only one who can protect us because He is the onlyLORD!
Allah is the Lord of the Worlds, the King of all Kings, and the only God.
So, what are we asking protection from?
Allah tells us in Suratun-Naas what we need to ask protection from.
The most dangerous thing in the world,.The whispers of Shaytaan
You see Shaytaan cannot do anything to anyone without Allahs
permission. All he can do is whisper suggestions and then wait to see if anyone will listen
to him. After he whispershe runs away!

Why does he run away?

If a person remembers Allah, and decides not to listen to Shaytaan, Shaytaan runs
away because remembering Allah is something that Shaytaan does not like.
Why do we need protection from whispers? Whispers may not sound like
something dangerous that we need protection from, but we do!
We need protection because if someone listens to Shaytaans whispers, they are
always against Obedience to Allah and Rasool (saw)

How can we keep away from Shaitaan ?

We all have germs on our hands, right? Can you see those germs? No.
Are those germs dangerous? Yes .
Are you scared of germs? Probably not.
As long as you wash your hands and take a bath each day you are safe from germs.
Well Shaytaan is like a germ!
We all have a Shaytaan, we cant see him, and he can be dangerous. But if we remember
Allah, and recite the Moo`awwithatayn we willWash that germy Shaytaan away!

Dont be scared! Be Prepared!

Shaytaan wants you to be scared of him, and his friends
(those who listen to him),so that you will listen to him, too.
But Allah wants the whole world to be prepared to fight Shaytaan ,
because he can not harm you !

Remember the story of Prophet Adam & his wife Hawwa'

When they were in Jannah? Shaytaan did not hurt them, he could not hurt them
What he wanted is for them to eat from the tree that Allah told them not to eat from.
He wanted them to disobey Allah. Why? Because Shaytaan wants to prove
that other people will disobey Allah just like he did. So be prepared to fight Shaytaan,
Dont be scared of him!
