The following items were discussed at Meeting No. 2 for the design of the anaerobic freatment
of
geptage/com stover and biosolids to produce -biogas, electrical power and treated biosolids for the

Township of Georgian Bluffs and the Township of Chtsworth:

members.

previously sent to members of the committea. The table of conlents
outlined the work tasks to be carried out for the Design Brief.

There was a briel discussion regarding dewatering of septage. Ross

slaughter indicated that he was in- the process of

dewatsring septage using geotubes and also mechanical mens of

dewatering. However, it should be noted that during the Design Brief
process it was found that this liquid was needed when combind with
the corn stover, estimared ar 40o/o solids, to provide a liquid in the
digester of approximately g.5olo sotids. Martin Lensink ab indicated
thal.during the Deslgn Brief process that heating this extra water in the
septage could easily be done through the wastE heat from the gas

generator.

Ross slaughter reviewed the proposd new electrical power rates from
the ontario Power Authority.for the proposed feed-in iarilf program for
biogas projects which are off-farm. The data avaitable at tht time was
$0.16/kwh for lsss than or equat to soO kw. This has subsequenily

changed to a higher rate for on-farm and the same ralos for ofl-farm.

questions with regard to inputs into the digester, how it operates anil
the general design. He also indcated thal rates from lhe Ontario power
Authorily will probably increase somewhat for farm-based digesters.

There was a number of questions wlth regard lo what could be treatd

in the digester such as chicken manure, waste products frorn New Life
Mills and abattoir waste. Martin also indicated how the dgester would
stafi up, likely using beef or dairy manure and silage. Once the digester
was operating properly then other products such as corn stovsr will be
fed in.

Martin Lensink also indicated that material such as corn stover or wheat
straw that is fed in will need to be shredded to a small size such as 1 to
2 cm.

The Comminee indicated that they would like to wait to appty for the
new power prices by tho ontario Power Authority under the feed-in tarff
qrogram: which are approximately a 45o/o increase from the existing
standard otfer Program of approximately $0,11/kwh. wilh the new
program you would get S0.16/kWh. lt looks like there may also be a
2070 escalation clause. We cannot apply for the program until it is
finalized, whereas lf we applied for the ontario power Authority
Slandard Offer Program, then it could be processed within a short

period ol time.

lt was indicated that Ross slaughter should proceed with the Hydro

GENIVAR

One Connection Agreement-

Ross slaughter lndicatod that the site survey was scheduled for
Monda July 6, 2009. This was carried out and base plans have been

subsequently prepared for the site, ncluding an air photo plan.

The next Project Team Meeting is scheduled for g:00 a.m. on Monday,
August 10, 2009 at the Township of Georgian Bluffs.
