The Guinault and Lebrun companies have been similar operations for many years. They are both family businesses.
In their own fields they are both experts being driven by innovation, core technology ownership, and a people
approach. Together they manufacture a complimentary range of Ground Support Equipment for Aviation.
These include:
Guinault
Electrical power (GPU Ground Power Units), pneumatic power (ASU Air Start Units), heating power (air cabin
heaters).
Lebrun
Cooling power (Air Conditioning Units).
We decided in 2010 to join together to offer a unique global and complete solution for aircraft ground power. The
Guinault-Lebrun Holding Company with its Head Office in Luxembourg is the cementation of an idea, which makes
sense for us all. Employees, managers, suppliers, owners and partners can all benefit. The tighter legislation to
improve the environment can actually lead to cost savings. The new laws restricting APU use have accelerated the
global ground power trend.
We hope YOU will see in this new GUINAULT-LEBRUN organization the advantages of having a unique partner and
expert for all of your AIRCRAFT GROUND POWER requirements.
We would be delighted to welcome you to our facilities in France and Belgium.

The Company
Maurice GUINAULT founded the GUINAULT Company in 1949; initially supplying primarily 28Vdc ground power units
to the airlines. By the early 1970s, GUINAULT had supplied the first 400Hz ground power unit produced in France for
the Boeing 707, and then in the early 90s, GUINAULT manufactured the first multi-voltage GPU, based on
alternators with multi-windings. GUINAULT has been supplying the European aircraft industry for more than 50
years. Customers include Dassault for Mirage aircraft, Aerospatiale (now EADS) and Sud Aviation (now Eurocopter).
In 2000, GUINAULT designed the first 400 Hz rotary frequency variable speed electronically controlled air start unit.
Their first solid-state converter was delivered in 2001.

In 2010, GUINAULT and LEBRUN jointly designed a unique ultra-compact and electronically controlled air
conditioning unit for military applications. GUINAULT products are today operating in 80 countries, including Japan,
USA, Germany, Saudi Arabia, Sweden, Brazil, and China, with both military and civil applications.

The LEBRUN Company was founded in 1868 by Bruno LEBRUN (a Civil and Mechanical engineer). In 1876, he built his
first refrigeration system, with a compressor specifically for the production of cooling equipment.
By the late 1970s LEBRUN had designed and delivered its first mobile Air Conditioning units for AIRBUS, and in the
late 90s, they designed a PCA for F16 cockpits undergoing maintenance. At the same time, AIRBUS had selected
LEBRUN to replace all existing PCAs in Toulouse. LEBRUN began producing Pre-Conditioned Air units for airports,
airlines and handling companies in 2005. Lebrun products are today operating in 20 countries, including The
Netherlands, UK, France, Germany, Oman, Egypt, and the Philippines with equipment for both military and civil
applications.

The GUINAULT-LEBRUN organization employs 150 people, in their two facilities in France and Belgium, with the head
office in Luxembourg. Thanks to a strong engineering expertise in electronics, generators, cooling systems,
compressors, EMC and, air transportation, GUINAULT-LEBRUNs innovative approach ensures the best performance
at the lowest total cost to the end user.
GUINAULT-LEBRUN is more than just a GSE supplier. They specialize in generator, compressor and cooling system
manufacture and electronics. With the benefit of technological expertise in house, GUINAULT-LEBRUN offer the best
guarantee for rapid innovation, product reliability, and excellent product support.

Aircraft Ground Power Unit (GPU)

Whilst on the ground, an aircraft requires special electrical power: 400Hz or 28Vdc.
The use of a ground power unit (GPU) instead of either an aircraft engine or Auxiliairy Power unit ensures very
significant savings in terms of fuel consumption and maintenance.
Also, it is environmentally friendly, as it greatly reduces noise level and CO2 emissions at the airport.
If 50 or 60 Hz power is available, the GUINAULT-LEBRUN Frequency Converter will offer clean low harmonics, low
noise and very reliable 400Hz or 28Vdc electrical power.
90 kVA and 180 kVA units have been especially designed for extreme outdoor conditions. Whether operated in a
maintenance hangar, bridge mounted, fixed on the ground, or towable, the unit remains extremely reliable, quiet,
and user-friendly.
In remote area, mains power might not be available. A diesel driven ground power unit is then the suitable solution.
On a global scale, the CO2 emission of diesel GPU versus frequency converters fed by electrical power are not very
different, taking into consideration the power losses in the public electrical distribution network. A Guinault
Lebrun diesel GPU ensures the lowest TCO available on the market : the units are run at 1714 rpm, based on inhouse low rpm alternator technology. Guinault Lebrun proprietary digital electronics takes advantage of all
functions (control and datalogging) of the engine controller, through the CAN communication bus.

Aircraft Air Start Unit (ASU)

Although most aircraft are fitted with an onboard APU to start engines, an Air Starter is needed should the APU fail.
Even if the aircraft is allowed to fly if the APU is out of service, it cannot start its engines.
The airstart is rarely used, but if needed, reliability is a must. Passengers and crew are on board and waiting for takeoff, and a failure in the pneumatic aircraft engine start can lead to very expensive aircraft engine damage.
The Guinault-Lebrun units use electronically controlled air-flow / pressure / engine rpm technology to keep the main
components (diesel engine and screw compressor) in the smoothest operating conditions, whatever the type of
aircraft.
Engine and compressor rpm are reduced in real time to the minimum possible, ensuring reliability, increased
lifetime, and reduced fuel consumption.
Guinault-Lebrun use the expertise in electronic control to give a significant product advantage.

Airport Infrastructure:
fixed frequency converters and air conditioning units
Guinault-Lebrun have used their historical expertise in 400 Hz power supply (Guinault since 1949) and in cooling
systems (Lebrun since 1866) to offer customized solutions for airport ground support requirement.
We offer a customized solution, based on Mobile and Fixed units (air conditioning units, ground power units, air start
units), with either electrical or Diesel power.
The increasing power requirements for aircraft at existing or new airports will find their solution in a smart
combination of all these technologies. The Guinault-Lebrun mobile ACU dual mode allows for use with either
electrical or diesel power .
Guinault-Lebrun dedicates a project management team for each requirement, from the offer stage. With the
customer being central in the team, we make sure the offered solution meets your all of your
requirements.
We make sure the cost structure and alternative solutions are clearly understood, and all questions are answered in
a transparent way.
We offer you our technology Let us know your goal: Together we will build the most suitable solution for you.

Aircraft Air Conditioning Unit (ACU)

Air Conditioning units (ACU) are designed to take over the functions of the aircraft APU and maintain the appropriate
temperature within the cockpit and the cabin of any aircraft during pre-flight servicing, loading and maintenance.
This alternative dramatically reduces CO2/NOx emissions and noise level while leading to major savings both in fuel
and the maintenance cost ofthe on-board APU.
Guinault-Lebrun units integrate the latest industrial cooling technologies and offer the highest efficiency and
performance in the market.
Available in trailer mounted, truck mounted or ground mounted Guinault-Lebrun Air Conditioning units suit all types
of aircraft in all climates.
Completely self-contained, with compact design and very low noise level, Guinault-Lebrun Air Conditioning units can
be operated at the gate, parked in a remote area or for maintenance purposes in a hangar.

Military range of Products :

ground power units, air conditioning units, air start units, frequency
converters
Guinault-Lebrun is still supporting GPUs in the Middle East, delivered with the Dassault Mirage in 1973.
The GPU type GB60, is the most compact GPU on the market, MIL spec. compliant, it can be transported by
helicopter at 180 km/h with the usual straps.
In 2010, a very compact ACU has been designed for fighter aircraft, fully compliant to MIL standards: dimensions 104
x 84 inches height 62.
In 2011, Guinault-Lebrun has delivered 90 and 180 kVA 400Hz GPUs, which are able to operate in parallel for AWACS
aircraft. MIL Spec. Air Transportable ACU and ASU are being delivered in France and the UK.
Military units use most of the high level of technical expertise available at Guinault-Lebrun to ensure the specific
demands : EMC, air transportability, and extreme weather conditions.
Guinault and Lebrun have both been demonstrating their capability in supporting the product for very long periods
(30+ years) The company is not affected by the risk of obsolescence in electronics, as most of the electronic design
is proprietary.
Military products are certified in independent laboratories.
