OBJECTIVE
After fifteen years in design of industrial capital machinery and power transformers, and ten years as an
engineering bill of materials specialist, I would like to re-establish my design drafting forte.

EXPERIENCE
Sutphen Corporation

2005-Present

Dublin, OH
Fire Apparatus Manufacturer
Technical Documentation Specialist
Configure pump and truck body shop orders and bills of material for all incoming sales orders.
Work as point of contact between Engineering, Sales, Manufacturing and Purchasing on bill of material
related issues.
Create indented bills of materials for all new designs for new sales orders utilizing Microsoft AX 2009.
Carry out bill of material audits on purchased components and production trucks.
Create and maintain Sales and Bid drawings as required.
Update fabrication prints per design engineering direction.
Perform final quality inspection of finished trucks.

Midwestern Auto Group

2004

Dublin, OH
European Auto Dealership
Wholesale and Retail Auto Parts Sales Specialist
Sold new Audi, Land Rover, Porsche, Saab, and Volkswagen parts to body shops, repair shops and retail
customers.
Parts lookup using ETKA (Audi, Porsche, VW), MicroCAT (Land Rover), and SAAB electronic catalogs.
Invoicing using ADP.
2005 Volkswagen/Porsche Parts Specialist certification.

Fabcor Metal Fabricators

2003

Minster, OH
Temporary engineering aide
Sheet metal fabrication layout utilizing AutoCAD 14 and LT2004. Laser cutter nesting using Profile
Master 2000.

The Minster Machine Company

1993-2003

Minster, OH
Industrial metal-forming press manufacturer
Designer
Designed 200 through 1600-ton straight-side presses.
Created job bills of material, assembly layouts, and component detail drawings for 15 new presses and 18
remanufacture orders using IBM CADAM and SDRC I-deas 2D/3D software.
Created drawings and material requirements for repair orders.
Served as Vendor Liaison to provide answers to outsource providers drawing information and nonconforming parts inquiries.
Accomplishments
Redesigned cast iron press uprights to accommodate wider material feed lines. This improved ease of
manufacturability by utilizing interchangeable common components and reduced pattern set-up time by
eliminating 9 variable pattern sections (from 11 pattern changes per setup to 2).

Created first proposal for 240-inch 1200-ton press, including design of new bed weldment
configuration that maintained minimal stress and deflection characteristics while conforming to
limitations of space and crane capacities in manufacturing areas.
Updated lubrication monitoring system to monitor previously unmonitored lube points.
Reconfigured slides to permit interchangeable fitment of mechanical or electronic shutheight
indicators.
Designed new crown weldment configuration to permit fitment of larger clutch assembly and longer
crankshaft throw to meet special customer requirements. This resulted in a lighter structure with easier
weldment while maintaining high strength and low stresses.
Maintained specification books on Microsoft Access database to permit sales and engineering
personnel to search for shipped press specifications, special features and major component assembly
weights for reference when selling or designing new presses.

ABB Power T&D Company

1989-1993

Muncie, IN
Large power transformer manufacturer
Development Engineering Draftsman
Contract Position through Alliance Technical Services, Beloit, OH.
Layout and detail draftsman for design of large (70kV+) core-form power transformers and phase
regulators using IBM CADAM.
Created job bills of material, assembly and sub-assembly layouts, and component detail drawings for
internal structure of transformers.
Created, implemented, and maintained new standard drawings and engineering design practices for largecore, medium-core and shell-form transformer technologies.
Accomplishments
Translated pencil master internal layout drawings of purchased competitors designs to CAD.
Maintained engineering design manuals, standard master layouts, and master calculation manuals for
four transformer configurations.
Implemented use of standard core clamp framing assembly drawings and common parts to reduce
variations in assembly configurations and simplify sub-assembly procedures.
Began implementation of standardization in sub-assembly of oil cooling radiators and fans to permit
faster upgrades when required.
