Local geometric stress concentration


Crack tip effects occur in weld or HAZ
For low stress range,frequency effect is
insignificant
For high stress range ,increase in frequency
produces increase in apparent fatigue strength
Effect of residual stresses varies considerably.
Fatigue limit is 50% of ultimate stress
