One of the true living legends of the European artistic

landscape, Heiner Goebbels has been the recipient of a
slew of awards across a brilliant, multifaceted career.
His restlessly inventive works range easily across the borders between artistic
disciplines, spanning music, theatre and the visual arts with equal aplomb.
Last seen at Melbourne Festival in 2010 with his compelling Stifters Dinge, this year
the celebrated maverick returns with a powerful new oering produced by the
Ruhrtriennale arts festival, of which Goebbels is currently Artistic Director.

This is an epic-scale production featuring 40 young singers from world-renowned

Vocal Theatre Carmina Slovenica, and oers a remarkable meditation on the
transition from youth to adulthood, an enigmatic vision of the end of innocence.
A captivating blend of dance, spoken word and song spanning traditional choral
works to indie pop, this latest creation also features text by authors as diverse as
Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Joseph von Eichendor, Adalbert Stifter, Gertrude
Stein, Alain Robbe-Grillet, Marlen Haushofer, Marina Abramovi and Ian McEwan.
