I have chosen to apply for joint honors in Archeology and Anthropology.

My interest in these
particular subjects comes from my curiosity about the world that existed before I did.

All of us originated from some place. All of us have a past that we are unaware of. It is this past
that I am fascinated by or more specifically the people that lived in that past and how they
shaped our lives. I am not just referring to the really famous people but all those other nameless
individuals that always seem to get looked over. They all had an impact on the world we live in,
even if the effect was slight, it was there.

In my opinion, Anthropology and Archeology are fundamental in understanding our world. We

spend our entire day in the presence of so many people that we start taking there existence for
granted, forgetting that they all have history too. And whether dead or alive they all affect us in
some way. If we can grasp this idea then our understanding of the present world would increase
exponentially. Not only that- based on our findings of the past we can enhance our
comprehension of the future and thus shape it to be a better and easier place to exist in.

Even though I have not been able to help out at the scale I would want to, I have tried to
participate in as many activities as possible that allow me to interact with and help out people.
My partaking in various speech and debate competitions permitted me to build up my confidence
so I can cooperate easily with people. My involvement in National and International writing
competitions have given me the opportunity to communicate with people from different
countries. I was also involved in organizing care packages for victims of the South Asian
Earthquake in my country. Due to the sensitive situation students were not allowed to enter
effected areas but I was part of the student group that visited refugee camps set up around our
area.

One of the most memorable experiences of my life (so far) was attending LUMUN ’08. It was an
exhilarating experience being around people from different parts of not only the country but also
the world. It helped me realize that I want to be a part of a global community and I think that
your University can help me achieve that.

Your University has been recommended to me by many of my teachers as the one of the best
places to study my chosen field. Also my own research showed me that not only can you provide
me with great academic facilities but also present me with a safe and comfortable environment,
of which I would be proud to be a part of.

I do hope that after reading this you will also see that your University is the best place for me
study, while learning how to be a productive member of the global community, and give me the
coveted chance to be part of your university!
