THE BRIEF
Miskin Arts have hereby engaged you as an Artist and Designer to produce a professionally made
Book Cover by the title NATURAL BEAUTY?
In your Pitch, you will;
-
explain what your version of the book will be about (as in genre and content in short)
present your final handmade artwork sized A3
present alternative ideas in smaller formats (having options increase grades and
chances to win a pitch)
present one or several digital version(s) of the book where the size is optional where,
you need to add Title and Author by using suitable fonts
present one or several photographs (Tumblr) of your printed versions in which you
have wrapped around a real book to show what the cover would like in real life
The aim of this brief is to enable you all to learn about 2 Dimensional (2D) Visual Communication
techniques and to work with Visual Art briefs
In your sketch book you need to show evidence of the work shop based work you carry out each week
where you learn how to draw and paint, using lots of different tools and techniques and working from
Primary and Secondary observation and sources. During the course of this project you will be introduced
different ways of studying the human body, faces and details as well as drawing and painting objects, and
places and nature itself. Techniques will be demonstrated through workshop inductions. You will be
expected to produce a selection of experimental 2D recordings which eventually will be leading to a
final Visual Art outcome relating to the Brief. This project encourages you to be curious about and
experiment with a wide variety of materials, tools and techniques including the use of digital software and
hardware. You will learn about formal elements and analysis of artists work by using correct industry
terminology. You will learn how to plan, develop and evaluate your work in relations to your own
productions.
Miskin Arts
You will also learn to apply ideas; to develop skills and knowledge in following an analysing an Art and
Design Brief, as well of formulating a Proposal when before you carry out your final outcomes. You will do
this by carrying out research development, design ideas, alternatives, and generate a final design
relative to the 2D and Visual Art Briefs pathway.
It is strongly suggested to visit exhibitions and art galleries during this project to generate great sources of
research evidence through your developments. You need to research and collect images from
secondary sources such as books and the Internet. Record these and your responses in your
sketchbook.
Professional Practice: Please be aware that you will be putting professional practice into action within
Miskin Arts, which is a professional environment in which you are effectively being given the opportunity to
publicly test your skills and gain creditable industrial experience.
