VEHICULAR TRAFFIC CONGESTION NAIVASHA ROAD DAGORETTI
Against on merits praying to be heard as a group and the menace sorted sustainably.
To the all stakeholders; the Humble Petition of People of Riruta and foot and vehicular users of Naivasha
Road
SHEWETH as follows:There has been vehicular traffic congestion at various spots along Naivasha Road, especially near the main
stage (BP), junction of Kawangware Road and Naivasha Road( opposite CDF office), Main market entrance
(Mlango soko), Junction of Macharia Road and Naivasha Road (Deliverance) and recently at the junction of
Naivasha Road and Kikuyu Road.
This menace is so persistent that it goes beyond peak hours with a resultant of loss of man-hours through
delays, loss of revenue through fuel loss and time loss, increased risk of accidents through the overlapping and
the push over, increased petty crime and overall loss of business by not attracting investors.
We, the residents and users of Naivasha Road Nairobi, petition all the stakeholders to consider and implement
a sustainable solution as follows;
Immediately

There is insufficient matatu parking space in the said bus stops due to the increase in the number of
people in the area and thus increase in matatus. Immediately, all the matatu Saccos to ensure that the
matatus do not stop on the road cause obstruction
That matatu Saccos ensure that their crew maintain law and order and by this, immediately stop the
overlapping, stopping in undesignated places and ensuring they mind others user of the road
That the police take charge to control vehicular flow especially during rush hours and take action on
traffic offenders
That the buses currently taking passengers at the junction of Kawangware Road and Naivasha Road
(opposite CDF office) are relocated immediately.
That the matatus taking passengers at the entrance of the CDF office be relocated immediately
Proper road marking especially at the Naivasha Road Kikuyu Road Junction and indeed in all junctions

That the Matatu Sacco management disciplines their crews who pick and drop passengers in non
designated zones and contravene the laid traffic rules.
That the Police Traffic Department (Kabete) ensures that those arrested for traffic offences like
obstruction are taken to court and prosecuted accordingly. This should also apply to non-psv owners
who also contravene the traffic rules regularly.
That the Local business community who run other business e.g the hawkers, mama mbogas n those
selling books etc do also observe the road safety rules by keeping a safe n sound distance from the
main road and feeder roads.
That the County Government and any other relevant authority construct footpaths and ensure proper
drainage systems to discourage pedestrians from walking on the main road.

In the short term

That the relevant authorities ensure that a space is designated for an off the main road stage
Construction of pedestrian pathways on either sides of the road
Opening up by tarmacking alternative bypasses to ease congestion on the road including the Link
between Kawagware Road and Naivasha Road at deliverance, Kabiria Road and the Kawagware Muslim
Road

With this in place we will achieve a smooth flow of both vehicular and foot traffic resulting to a better
environment required for business
It is therefore our humble submission that these issues be addressed with the highest importance it deserves
