Dear Colleagues
On behalf of the Egyptian Hypertension Society (EHS) and Cardiology Department
at Suez Canal University ,Its our pleasure to invite you to participate in 17th Annual
Scientific meeting of the EHS which will be held from 9 th 10 th April 2014 at
Fairmont Heliopolis hotel Cairo , Egypt .
This year`s meeting will be organized conjointly by EHS and Cardiology
Department at Suez Canal University. As our practice in the past meetings, we do
our best to present state of the art presentations in the field of hypertension
addressing different domains, experimental research, clinical aspects, and different
problems encountered in management of hypertension, particularly in our region.
This annual meeting is a good opportunity to share the most advanced scientific
information with distinguished faculties from USA, Europe and the Arab World as
well as our local Egyptian Experts from different disciplines: internists, nephrologists,
cardiologists and pediatricians. I am confident that your contribution will enrich the
scientific discussion and exchange of experiences.
I am looking forward to seeing you in Cairo during this meeting.

Lebanon He is organizing every second year one of the most
important meeting Middle East Cardiopace a joint
meeting between electrophysiology and prevention of CHD
and stroke.

Helmy M. Siragy, MD, FACP, FAHA

Harrison Distinguished Chair of Excellence in Medical


Education Professor of Medicine and Endocrinology,
Associate Chief, Department of Medicine
Director of the Hypertension Research Center at the
University of Virginia, Charlottesville, Virginia, USA.
His primary research interests are in the areas of
Hypertension and the Renin-Angiotensin System, Adrenal
diseases, (Pro)renin Receptors, and Diabetic Nephropathy.

Osama Okkeh, MD

consultant Cardiologist based in Jordan. After graduation in


General Medicine at the beginning of the eighties at Baghdad
University College of Medicine, trained at the teaching hospital
of the university. Travelled to London on 1983 and gained the
MRCP, then Egypt (Alexandria) achieving the masters degree in
cardiology and then Ph.D. London. Ex- president of the
Jordanian Lipid Society (JLS) Established the Jordanian
Hypertension Society (JHS) and merged both societies in the
Jordanian Atherosclerosis & Hypertension Society (JAHS).
Current interests are pathophysiology and management of hypertension and dyslipidemia
and their relationship to coronary ischemic syndromes.

Paul K. Whelton, MD,

Dr. Whelton spent 26 years in Baltimore, where he was


professor of epidemiology at the Johns Hopkins School
of Hygiene and Public Health, professor of medicine at the
School of Medicine, director of the Outpatient General Clinical
Research Center, and founding director of the Welch Center
for Prevention, Epidemiology, and Clinical Research. In 1997
he moved to New Orleans as dean of the Tulane University
School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine and in 1999
was appointed Senior Vice President for Health Sciences. He
also served as dean of the School of Medicine at Tulane,
president and chair of the Louisiana Gene Therapy Research Consortium, chair of the
Louisiana Cancer Research Consortium, chair of the Louisiana Biomedical Research and
Development Park Commission, and vice-chair of the New OrleansBioInnovation Center. In
2007 he moved to Chicago as President and CEO of the Loyola University Health System
and Medical Center and concurrently served as Senior Vice President for Health Sciences
at Loyola University Chicago where he was professor of preventive medicine and
epidemiology at the Stritch School of Medicine. In 2011 he returned to New Orleans where
he serves as the Show ChwanHealth System Endowed Chair in Global Public Health at the
Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine.
Research interests: cardiovascular disease and renal disease epidemiology, prevention,
treatment trials, policy, and global health.

Tony Heagerty, MD

He is a former President of the European Society of


Hypertension. Until recently he was President of the
International Society of Hypertension (2008-2010) and also
President of the British Hypertension Society (2011-13),
having served as Vice-President since September 2009.
He is a Member of the Nominations Committee for the Royal
College of Physicians and serves on the Boards of the Journal
of Clinical Metabolism & Diabetes, Therapeutic Advances in
Cardiovascular Disease, The Open Cardiovascular Medicine
Journal, Experimental Physiology, Current Hypertension
Reviews, Journal of Hypertension, Hypertension, Diabetes and Vascular Disease Research
and Blood Pressure.
He is an international authority on high blood pressure, aetiology and management.
He holds an Honorary Consultant contract with Central Manchester Foundation Trust
(Manchester Royal Infirmary) and holds regular clinics for the treatment of high blood
pressure as well as General Medicine.

Audiovisual & Speakers Instructions


We are delighted to have you as a welcomed speaker and we do appreciate much
to bring out your presentation to the audience in a perfect way. We have a modified system that we ALL have to FOLLOW to keep the integrity of the conference
scientific program.
Please use a PC (IBM Compatible) not Apple Macintosh formats.
The following guidelines are made to help us bringing this conference to perfection
* Computers used in the conference are PCs loaded with Microsoft Office 2007.
* Please use Microsoft PowerPoint XP or later version to prepare your
presentation
* If your presentation includes movies, be sure to create a folder including your
presentation & movie files or sound clips. This will insure that all the tools used
to create the presentation are readily accessible on the show site, should the
need arise to modify the presentation.
* Please remember that your movies should be in MPEG1 format. AVI files might
not work properly on all computers unless special codec is used. MOV is not a
compatible format to be run inside PowerPoint.
* DICOM players will be available in all computers serving the conference.
* Speakers are not allowed to use their personal laptops whatever the reason is.
Strict rule are applied in this matter. Apple users must prepare a PC
compatible CD or DVD loaded with their presentation(s).
* Only digital media is allowed as a tool to present data, namely CDs, DVDs,
Flash memory &/or external hard drive. No 35mm physical slides are allowed.
No video tapes. No Transparencies. No Whiteboard. No Bluetooth mobile
phones.
* Computers inside halls are not connected to the internet.
* Speakers MUST handle their PRESENTATION CDs 1 hour AT LEAST before
beginning of the session.
* The duration of the presentation is controlled digitally through computer soft
ware that will end the view when time is up, thus we value your understanding
to stick to the dedicated time.
