THE PARK
A Thistle Hotel
The Park's 136 bedrooms are decorated in a fresh country house style. Each one
features a trouser press, mini bar, tea and coffee making facilities, telephone with voice
mail, radio, television with Sky TV, air conditioning/fan and many have a safe, fax and
modem points, teletext television and ironing centre. A high security floor provides rooms
designated for the female business traveller. There are also four suites and a specially
adapted bedroom for disabled guests.
The Scrum Sports Bar and Caf offers light refreshments throughout the day and
evening and features an eight foot screen, as well as numerous televisions broadcasting
Sky Sports, CNN News and MTV music. In the gallery are five smaller areas, each
suitable for six people, where different TV programs and sports videos can be viewed.
Unrivalled in Cardiff for its conference, exhibition and banqueting facilities, The Park's
ten refurbished meeting rooms have natural light and high ceilings, and some have airconditioning. The largest rooms can each seat 300, whilst five smaller rooms have been
specifically designed for boardroom meetings, presentations and private dining.

Dear Hal,
Well, here I am in Cardiff. It is a wonderful city, the capital of Wales. I am a bit tired
after traveling so far, but I am enjoying myself nevertheless. We attend classical concerts
and operas at the concert hall here in town every night. Yesterday it was Carmen, my
favorite. I am looking forward to a nature hike tomorrow. The countryside really is lovely!
We have been sightseeing every day. I loved the old castle in the middle of town -- it
was so spectacular. There are plenty of places to shop, and there are things to do after
dark, too. We have been to pubs and clubs every night. Then there is the Welsh
language. It certainly looks difficult! I'm glad everyone knows English!
I met some fellow Hungarians at one of the pubs. It's amazing to see how we are
everywhere. I was also lucky enough to meet some English tourists and practice my
language skills.
I will write more later, and send pictures!
