INTRODUCTION:
Hello all you lovely people checking out my latest report, its SHANKS^6 here again with an
investigation into Hung Gas TEN KILLING HANDS. As always its straight to business, this turned
out to be one of my more elusive subjects in martial arts as it proved to be at least for me quite
difficult to find reliable research on just what are the TEN KILLING HANDS. Though it was well
worth the effort from what I found thus far.
First off, if youre like me and the name TEN KILLING HANDS conjured images in your head of ten
lethal hand strikes capable of killing any opponent in a single blow. Then like me you were tragically
wrong, sadly this is not the case. The ten killing hands are not ten hands but ten results you would
endeavour to achieve in order to win the fight against your opponent. (I know, are you fucking
kidding me! Disappointed! ) These results are:

Strike the Eyes


Stop the Breath
Break the Face
Explode the Ears
Crush the Groin
Twist the Tendons
Break the Fingers
Dislocate the Joints
Break the Elbow
Attack the Nerve Points

THE RESULTS:
So is this better or worse, it seems the TEN KILLING HANDS may not consist entirely of killing
techniques but may also consist of techniques for breaking, deterrents and ko.
One of these four tactics can be used on the opponent by achieving one of these ten goals. This
bring me to next point, these techniques are quite utilitarian as it is only ten roads you can take to
end a fight but their roads that can be used for many different situations. You could see them like
this:
Deterrents:
(Techniques used to cause the attacker enough pain or damage to their body they will voluntarily
cease doing what they are doing to you e.g. get off you, let go of you, etc.)

Strike the Eyes ( Blinding, Pain )


Explode the Ears ( Pain, Dizziness )
Crush the Groin ( Pain )
Attack the Nerve Points (Extreme Pain, Dizziness, Grogginess, is that a word?)

Breaking:
(Techniques used to break parts of the attackers skeletal structure in an effort to subdue them)
1) Break the Face ( Extreme pain causing difficulty to use senses and focus on you )
2) Twist the Tendons ( Over Extend Tendons, Cause Break, Hard to Fight with broken Achilles
tendon )
3) Break the Fingers ( Hard to pick up a weapon with broken fingers)
4) Dislocate the Joints ( Wow where do I start, Dislocated anything can end a fight)
5) Break the Elbow ( Extreme Pain and Loss of use in that arm )
KO:
(Techniques used to cause the attacker to lose consciousness in order to subdue them)

Break the Face ( Shock to the brain causing ko )


Attack the Nerve Points ( A shock to the carotid artery nerve can cause a ko )
Explode the Ears ( Cause a concussion leading to a ko )
Crush the Groin ( Cause shock leading to a ko )

Killing:
(Techniques used to kill the attacker in order to subdue them)
Ooooooh now heres where it gets tricky
1) Strike the Eyes (Should you use certain techniques to penetrate the eye socket of the
attacker you can reach all the way through the eyes, break through a thin layer of bone and
cause lethal damage to the damage to the brain.)
2) Explode the Ears ( A certain Double Strike to the ears is potentially lethal depending on the
amount of force behind the strike can cause a lethal concussion )

3) Attack the Nerve Points (Certain Nerve Points are potentially lethal with a precise strike.)
4) Dislocate the Joints (A Dislocated Neck, emphasise on Dislocated, am not talking about
Breaking the Neck like in some B-rated action movie, Dislodged if you will, Im talking
Dislocated, hard to do anything with a dislocated neck, eating, breathing, moving, getting
medical attention, so dead. )
5) Stop the Breath (And finally, many sharp strikes to the throat can damage the throat to the
degree the attacker can no longer breath, no breathing, dead.)

THE HUNG GA TEN KILLING HANDS TECHNIQUES:


But what are the techniques behind these goals?
The Ten Techniques in the original Hung Gas Ten Killing Hands are these

Sheung Kwa Choi Faht or Double Backfist
Tong Tin Kuen Faht or Heaven Piercing Fist
Ngaw Fu Cum Yang or Hungry Tiger Catches the Lamb
Man Fu Ha San or Fierce Tiger Descends the Mountain
Dai Ma Gwai Gau or Leading the Horse to the Stable
Won Bao Hok or Reincarnation of the Crane
Hau Gee Tao Toe or Monkey Steals the Peach
Sheung Fei Wu Dip or Double Flying Butterflies
Fu Pao Sheung Kuen Faht or Tiger/Leopard Double Fist

Now finding out information about these techniques proved to be quite difficult as most information
in the books and on the internet seemed to revolve around the Ten Goals set for the practitioner to
victor in the fight.
I did notice however that lots of different sources had THEIR OWN techniques they had replaced the
original ten killing hands techniques with. These were techniques they felt were better towards
achieving the ten goals.
I took these techniques down as well so that you readers may look amongst them and compare
them to the original techniques and have them should you like to add aspects of the Ten Killing
Hands to your repertoire.
