Textbook: Understanding Intermediate Algebra, 5th ed., Hirsch & Goodman,

ISBN 0-534-38125-1. Student Solutions Manual, ISBN 0-534-38341-6,
with worked-out solutions to odd-numbered exercises is recommended and is
available in the bookstore.
Course Description: equations and inequalities, graphing straight lines and
functions, equations of a line and linear systems, polynomial functions,
rational expressions and functions, exponents and radicals, quadratic
functions and equations, operations on functions, exponential and
logarithmic functions.

Pre − requisite: High School Algebra II.

Attendance: Students are expected to attend class.

Grading: There will be two exams and a comprehensive final.

There will be no make-up, re-scheduling, of an exam.

Exam #1 Counts 1/3 of the grade.

Exam #2 Counts 1/3 of the grade
Final Exam* Counts 1/3 of the grade and is mandatory.
*The final exam score will replace one of the exam scores, if it’s to the student’s advantage.

Note: Textbooks, notes, calculators, etc. are not allowed on exams.

Also, bring your student ID with you to the exams.
