COURSE DESCRIPTION :
This course is designed to enhance the knowledge, desirable skills and attitudes of
Agricultural Crops Production NC l in accordance with industry standards. It covers basic,
common and core competencies in the production of crops such as rice, vegetables, fruits
and nuts as well as many others.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS :
Trainees or students wishing to enroll in this course should possess the following
requirements.

Able to read and write;

With good moral character;

Ability to communicate, both oral and written

Physically fit and mentally healthy as certified by a Public Health Officer

LO2. UNDERTAKE IRRIGATION WORK AS DIRECTED


ASSESSMENT CRITERIA:
Instructions and directions are followed and clarified based on supervisors
requirements and workplace procedures.
Irrigation work is undertaken in a safe and environmentally appropriate
manner according to enterprise guidelines.
Interactions with other staff and customers are carried out in a positive and
professional manner as specified in the employee manual.
Irrigation work practices, handling and disposal of materials is observed
following engineering and enterprise policy and procedures.
Problems or difficulties in completing work to required standards or timelines
are reported to supervisor based on company reporting procedures.

Basic irrigation principles and practices
Basic construction techniques
Irrigation tools and equipment
Installation of irrigation and/or drainage pipes
Environmental aspects of irrigation work
Repair and maintenance of irrigation components and systems

LO3. HANDLE MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT


ASSESSMENT CRITERIA:
Waste material and debris produced during irrigation work is stored in a
designated area according to workplace procedure/OHS procedure.
Materials, equipment and machinery are handled and transported according to
enterprise guidelines.
A clean and safe work site is maintained while undertaking irrigation activities in
accordance with OHS procedures.
CONTENTS:
Proper use/handling of materials and equipment
Storage practices and principles for materials and equipment
Waste materials storage and disposition
Routine maintenance of irrigation and/or drainage systems and components
Repair, maintenance, and storage of infrastructures, materials, tools and
equipment

CONDITIONS:
Trainees/students must be provided with the following:

LO4. CLEAN UP ON COMPLETION OF IRRIGATION ACTIVITIES


ASSESSMENT CRITERIA:
Materials are returned to store or disposed of according to company standard
procedures and supervisors instructions.
Tools and equipment are cleaned, maintained and stored according to
manufacturers specifications and supervisors instructions.
Site is made good according to supervisors instructions and good
environmental practices
Work outcomes are reported to the supervisor following established reporting
formats.

Procedures for storage of excess materials


Procedures for disposal of waste materials
Routine cleaning, maintenance and storage of tools and equipment
Environmental requirements relative to irrigation
Report preparation of work outcomes
Accident/hazard reporting procedures
