"You cannot transmit wisdom and insight to another person.

The seed is already t

here. A good teacher touches the seed, allowing it to wake up, to sprout, and to
grow."
~Thich Nhat Hanh~

Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be i
n silence. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all person
s. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull
and the ignorant, they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter; for always t
here will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements a
s well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is
a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. Bu
t let not this blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high i
deals, and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially do not fe
ign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and
disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass. Take kindly the counsel of the
years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distre
ss yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the
universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And
whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it sho
uld.
Therefore, be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be. And whatever y
our labors and aspirations in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your so
ul. With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams; it is still a beautiful world
. Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.
~ Max Ehrmann, 1927
"Faith is not the clinging to a shrine but an endless pilgrimage of the heart. O
ur goal should be to live life in radical amazement, [to] get up in the morning
and look at the world in a way that takes nothing for granted.
Everything is phenomenal; everything is incredible; never treat life casually. T
o be spiritual is to be amazed.
Prayer begins at the edge of emptiness. Wonder rather than doubt is the root of
all knowledge. Just to be is a blessing. Just to live is holy. We can never snee
r at the stars, mock the dawn, or scoff at the totality of being.
Self-respect is the root of discipline: The sense of dignity grows with the abil
ity to say no to oneself. The primary purpose of prayer is not to make requests.

The primary purpose is to praise, to sing, to chant. Because the essence of pra
yer is a song, and man cannot live without a song.
When I was young, I admired clever people. Now that I am old, I admire kind peop
le. Know that every deed counts, that every word is power Above all, remember tha
t you must build your life as if it were a work of art."

"Smile, breathe and go slowly. Feelings come and go like clouds in a windy sky.
Conscious breathing is my anchor."
~Thich Nhat Hanh

"Perhaps the most important thing we bring to another person is the silence in u
s, not the sort of silence that is filled with unspoken criticism or hard withdr
awal. The sort of silence that is a place of refuge, of rest, of acceptance of s
omeone as they are. We are all hungry for this other silence. It is hard to find
. In its presence we can remember something beyond the moment, a strength on whi
ch to build a life. Silence is a place of great power and healing ."
~ Rachel Naomi Remen ~

We are shaped by our thoughts; we become what we think. When the mind is pure, j

Do not pursue the past. Do not lose yourself in the future. The past no longer i
s. The future has not yet come. Looking deeply at life as it is. In the very her
e and now, the practitioner dwells in stability and freedom.
~ Bhaddekaratta Sutta ~
Be like water making its way through cracks. Do not be assertive, but adjust to t
he object, and you shall find a way around or through it. If nothing within you
stays rigid, outward things will disclose themselves. A goal is not always meant
to be reached, it often serves simply as something to aim at.
~ Bruce Lee ~
Let go of hope.
Hope is empty; hope is like wishing, as though you don't trust what is possible.
Intend instead. Know; Heart-know; that whatever you intend and take action on le
ads to manifesting what you are intending. And be grateful for what is manifeste
d from your absolute knowing.
Intentions have energy; hope does not. Hope is full of doubt; intention is full
of promise. When you intend, you energize how you want to feel; the Universe/Sou
l takes care of the details. Once you intend you set the wheels in motion. And y
ou will know what steps to take next. Take one small step at a time as guided. A

ction is required, as intention without action is empty. Energize your intention

by doing something that is aligned with the energy of your intention. As you in
tend, let go of the attachment to how it is supposed to look, as that is based o
n the past and on attachment. Set your intention with your Heart and let it fly,
knowing and trusting that there is Power in your intending. What you intend and
give energy to you bring to you...attention and intention and action manifests.
Kara Sharlock
"Practice until you see yourself in the cruelest person on Earth, in the child s
tarving, in the political prisoner. Continue until you recognize yourself in eve
ryone in the supermarket, on the street corner, in a concentration camp, on a le
af, in a dewdrop. Meditate until you see yourself in a speck of dust in a distan
t galaxy. See and listen with the whole of your being.
If you are fully present, the rain of Dharma will water the deepest seeds in you
r consciousness, and tomorrow, while you are washing the dishes or looking at th
e blue sky, that seed will spring forth, and love and understanding will appear
as a beautiful flower."
~ Thich Nhat Hanh ~
"Once you realize that the road is the goal and that you are always on the road,
not to reach a goal, but to enjoy its beauty and its wisdom, life ceases to be
a task and becomes natural and simple, in itself an ecstasy."
~ Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj ~
