Activity
Time

This week we are learning:

Circle Time Review
This week in circle time we are going
to listen to the five senses song
again and sing the words. I will
pause to ask the class various
questions. We are then going to go
around in a circle and I will point to a
sense written on the board. Each
students must read the sentence
With my (body part) I can (sense)
a/an (object to be sensed) and use
the correct sense, body part and
appropriate object.

This week we are going to continue earning about the 5 senses:

touch, taste, smell, hear, see. We will learn the vocab and will
associate each sense with the correct organ. i.e. we see with the
eyes. We will also look at some qualities of sense perception:
Sweet, salty, sour, bitter, soft, rough, hard, loud, quiet, good and
bad.
We are going to do several worksheets where the students have to
match the correct body part to the right sense.
We are going to write down the following words for a spelling test
on the following Monday: see, eyes, hear, ears, touch, hands,
taste, tongue, smell, nose.
This is a short week as there is no lesson on Wednesday.
New (letters/sounds/vocabulary)

Phonics
P1 Preparation

Sight, hearing, touch, smell, taste

(T. Andy)

This week in phonics we will learn

the 'ft' sound as an end sound
gift, left, lift, soft; and 'mp' sound as
an end sound lamp, stamp,
stump, jump, plump, hump, pump.
The students will continue to focus
on recognition of the sound and
building this into a word using
other phonics sounds that we have
studied so far this year. I will use
the Corners Game and Bingo to
practice recognition and writing
from listening. The students will
practice reading words and
sentences using the reader, and
writing skills using the activity
booklet.

Maths
This week in maths we will take a break from
sums for a while to concentrate on some new,
important Maths vocabulary. The students will
be studying comparatives and superlatives so
that they can use them to compare numbers
shortest/longest (shorter/longer);
shortest/tallest (shorter/taller);
lightest/heaviest (lighter/heavier). The
students will learn about length, height and
weight, and review instruction words like
match, circle, tick, count, and write. These
words are all important for them to
understand instructions in upcoming tests,
and are also necessary for Prathom 1. We
will eventually move on to discussing
smallest/greatest (smaller/greater) in terms of
numbers in the next few weeks.

Parent Follow Up / Useful

Websites / Homework:
The students will be given some
Maths homework. Please
encourage your child to complete
the work. Also please could you
help them to revise for the
spelling test and to practice the
new sounds in this weeks
phonics with them. Many thanks,
Teacher Mike.
