Global Energy Needs

In 2013, the global energy consumption accelerates despite stagnant global economic
growth. Most of the net growth took place in emerging country like China and India which
alone accounting for nearly 90% of the net increase in global energy consumption. Despite
the slowdown, consumption and production reached record levels for all energy provider
except nuclear power and biofuels. Most of the data collected by Private Corporation which
monitors global energy needs suggests that growth from energy use continued to increase
from 2002.
Energy is needed to power all the machine or electronic items that human invented. From
the data collected by BP Energy, there are four types of consumers for energy.
1.
2.
3.
4.

Residential which uses 17%

Commercial areas which uses 19%
Light and heavy Industry uses 25%
Transportation uses 39%

The main energy source provider:

Oil

Natural Gas

Coal

World leading energy source which

provide 33% in total
Everyday oil consumption grows by
1.4 million barrel. United States of
America(USA) is the main consumer
Light distillate like gasoline and diesel
is the fastest growing refined product
category by volume
Consumption grows by 1.4% yearly
and actually in the state of decline
because normally from previous
record, average is 2.6%
Leading producer is USA, Russia and
China
Malaysia is the worlds second largest
exporter for natural gas
LNG Bintulu is the largest natural gas
manufacturing complex
Coal used to produce 40% of world
electricity
There is two types of coal exist which
is Thermal coal for power generation
and Metallurgical coal which is for
steel production
Power station around the world
mainly depends on coal continuous

Renewable Energy

supply in order to produce electricity.

Coal power plant used to heat up
pool of water to steam before the
high pressure steam is to be shoot
towards a propeller and move the
mega dynamo and finally produce
electricity.
Solar Energy
Wind Energy
Geothermal Energy
Hydropower
Ocean energy
Hydrogen and fuel cell

Global Energy Needs versus Sustainability

Global energy need is increasing rapidly due to the blossom of more heavy industry and the
amount of transportation. Meanwhile on the other hand in order to cope the energy needs,
sustainability energy research is getting more advance each day and manage to introduce
new types of energy provider using abundant sources that we still have. Recently, research
on using ocean energy and wind energy are getting more serious by companies like General
Electric (GE) British and Boeing Aviation working side by side to build mega propeller in
certain strategic location to produce electricity.
In conclusion, global energy needs more walk on the same tempo of sustainability in order
for both sectors to provide needs of each other. Supply and demand for both will look
organized as long as improvement is made periodically.
