Training Program on

Capturing Gender Equality Results in ADB operations

4-5 December 2014
Hotel IBIS, IGI Airport
New Delhi 110 037

ADBs policy on Gender and Development adopts gender mainstreaming as a key strategy for
promoting gender equality and womens empowerment in all ADB operations. ADBs long term
strategic framework, Strategy 2020 includes Gender Equity as one the five drivers of change
necessary towards achieving a poverty free Asia and Pacific region. The Corporate Results
Framework 2013 includes gender targets and requires that 45% of all operations and 55% of Asian
Development Fund operations to be gender mainstreamed by 2016. The Gender Equality and
Womens Empowerment (GEWE) Operational Plan 2013-2020, emphasizes the need for
strengthening mechanisms that help integrate gender equality measures in project design as well as
improve quality of implementation, monitoring and reporting. The overarching objective of the
workshop is to sensitise the participants on the need for gender mainstreaming within sectors. The
aim is to strengthen capacities of senior project officials to achieve improved implementation and
monitoring of gender equality component within projects and quality reporting of gender equality
results. The workshop will also promote lateral learning through peer to peer experience sharing on
Government of India, State Governments and ADB project related good practices on gender
mainstreaming and the achievements.
