Self Employed Offshore Instrument Technician, P B Instrumentation Ltd

Currently working on the Brae Bravo for Marathon Oil carrying out the same duties as when I was a
core technician (see below)
Carry out preventative, planned and remedial maintenance of all instrumentation within the
Honeywell TDC 2000/ Experion and ESD systems on the platform ensuring any repairs are carried
out safely and promptly.
Maintain and inspect all hazardous area equipment on the platform to the correct standards
required
Responsible for carrying out isolations in a competent manner, complying with platform safety
procedures.
Identify and propose ideas and solutions that will increase efficiency and cut costs or time.
Carry out preventative, planned and remedial maintenance of all instrumentation within the PSS and
DCS systems on site ensuring any repairs are carried out safely and promptly.
Maintain and inspect all hazardous area equipment on site to the correct standards required
Responsible for carrying out isolations in a competent manner, complying with site safety
procedures.
Was heavily involved in the commissioning of the new HIPPS upgrade on site which involved
assisting the engineer with physically checking and red lining new loop drawings, loop checking the
new transmitters that were installed and checking that alarms/trips (2oo3 voting and rate of rise)
came in as per cause and effect diagrams. I also had to check that all valve instrumentation
(solenoids, limit switches etc.) were working correctly and that all the new HIPPS valves closed
within the specified times for their new SIL rating.
I was also involved in the commissioning of all the new ESD/ DCS level valves that were installed
onsite as part of an upgrade project. Again I was responsible for checking and updating/ red lining
loop drawings, loop checking all valve instrumentation back to the control room and function
checking all valves to ensure correct operation and control.

Part of the afterhours on call team and respond to any request for technical assistance.
On an AD-HOC basis I was responsible for assisting the core crew staff in carrying out preventative,
planned and remedial maintenance of all instrumentation within the PSS and DCS systems on site
ensuring any repairs are carried out safely and promptly.
Maintain and inspect all hazardous area equipment on site to the correct standards required
Responsible for the setting up, maintenance and testing of the companies hydraulic power units
(HPU's) and umbilical reelers as per customer requirements both onshore and offshore.
Assist subsea engineers in setting up various types of subsea completion equipment including
Xmas trees and associated tools.

Completed apprenticeship and gained HNC process control, NC measurement and control, SVQ
level Engineering maintenance and SVQ level 2 Engineering manufacture.
Repair and calibration of various test equipment used in the oil and gas industry including various
types of transmitters, digital multimeters, data logging equipment and pressure gauges/chart
recorders.
PERSONAL SUMMARY
I am a hard working highly motivated individual who enjoys learning new skills and is not afraid of a
challenge. My personal interests and hobbies include a membership to the local gym, playing football
where I am goalkeeper for my local team, socialising with friends, music and watching films.
