System Description: The AN/USC-65(V)1 and AN/USC-65(V)2 are Programmatic Information:

SHF quad-band (C-band, X-band, Ku-band, and Ka-band) wideband Manufacturer: Harris Corporation
satellite communications ground terminals. The LMST provides a Contract Vehicle: M67854-06-D-7009, MCSC
smaller, lighter, modular, more flexible terminal with a hub and MCSC Acquisition Status: Technology Refresh
spoke capability. The LMST is packaged in two configurations P3I: N/A
consisting of 3 or 4 transit cases and one 2.5-meter antenna. IOC: FY03
FOC: FY05
The AN/USC65(V)1 is contained in 4 transit cases. It has the Fielding Plan: Fully Fielded
capability to simultaneously transmit two (one mission and one Unfunded Requirement: No
orderwire) communications carriers and receive seven (six mission
and one orderwire) communications carriers through either the
Lifecycle Configuration Control:
terminal’s internal antenna or a user-supplied external antenna.
Initial Fielding: 2003
Quantity Fielded: 31
The AN/USC-65(V)2 is contained in 3 transit cases. It has the
Warranty: 1-year
capability to simultaneously transmit two (one mission and one
Logistics Support Concept: 3-level (O-I-D)
orderwire) communications carriers and receive five (four mission
Upgrades: ECP 2007-2: Full Duplex
and one orderwire) communications carriers through either the
terminal’s internal antenna or a user supplied external antenna. The Ka capability, and
AN/USC-65(V)2 is semi-permanently mounted onto a TMK Replacement FM Order
Assembly for improved mobility and decreased setup and Wire (RFMOW)
displacement time. Variations: AN/USC-65(V)1
AN/USC-65(V)2
Both LMST configurations are designed to operate with the AS- Legacy Equipment Substitute: AN/TSC-85/93
4429D (LAMDA) and AS-4429 (LHGXA) Large Aperture Antennas Lifecycle Status: Stable
(LAA). Expected Replacement System: HC3
Expected Replacement Timeframe: 2025
Locations:
CE: Comm Bn Requirement:
GCE: N/A Statement of Need: SON CCC 11.20A dated 19 Apr 2001
ACE: Comm Sqdn and MNS CCC 11.9 dated 1 Mar 1993.
LCE: N/A Operational Requirements Documentation (ORD): O&O
dated Jul 2005; O&O, Chg 1 dated 14 Jul 2006; O&O, Chg
2 dated 23 Feb 2007.
Concept of Employment: The LMST operates in a worldwide
military tactical environment and provides SHF SATCOM
transmission of baseband signals at the MARFOR/MEF HQ for
termination at MSC HQ, DISN STEP/teleport, naval vessels, and
Service or JTF HQs.

Operational Impact: The LMST provides SHF SATCOM

transmissions to any size MAGTF and can be deployed as a "first in"
communications resource.

Risks:
Cost: Low – LMST Production is complete. The costs
of upgrades are based on actual data.
Schedule: Low – The LMST is fully fielded.
Performance: Low – The LMST is successfully operating in the
USMC.

Status: Fielding of ECP 2007-2 commenced in FY09, implementing

the following upgrades and capabilities: 1) Ka-band full-duplex; 2)
Replacement FM Orderwire (RFMOW) capability.
