Executive Summary
Stuff...Lah! is a nonprofit charity drive stall, started by a group of five students in order to
raise fund for a charity organization. The business was run over a period of 5 days during a
charity drive event at Taylor's University Lakeside Campus. This charity drive event is the final
project of the subject of Introduction to Business, Foundation in Natural and Built Environment
and Foundation in Design. All the profits earned from our stall were to be donated to a chosen
charity organization, Kiwanis Down Syndrome Foundation, Malaysia.

Stuff...Lah! sells a varied assortment of products such as soda drinks and clothes.
However, the theme and main attraction of Stuff...Lah! is the soda drinks. Therefore, we had to
plan a good strategy with great tactics in order to achieve and hit our target. Everyone was given
a specific tasks to prevent social loafing and wasted resources. Also, we had meetings in order to
discuss on what we could improve, our sales and profits and most importantly, how could we hit
our target.

Nevertheless, communication skills are important as well. A good communicator can

transfer his or her messages well, because everyone understands what the person is trying to say.
Before this, all of us were afraid to promote the drinks and clothes because we do not have the
confident enough to do so. However, it was a must for each one of us to change and be braver
people. Soon, we began to start to go around to promote and ask for donations. At last, we did
not only make good sales and profits, but also created stronger and more confident in ourselves.

As a conclusion, although we have still got many good qualities to practice in order to
succeed, but with this two, it is good enough. A team does not succeed with only a person. A
team needs everyone to work together, even though we fell down, we get back up and continue.
We are only as strong as we are united, as weak as we are divided. well said by J.K. Rowling
in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

Objectives
Purpose of having this Charity Drive
We decided to donate all the donations and sales revenue earned from our soda drinks
and clothes through this charity drive to our desired charity organization, Kiwanis Down
Syndrome Foundation, Malaysia. Kiwanis Down Syndrome Foundation is committed to the
welfare of children with Down Syndrome, its main focus being the education of these children
up to six years old. Kiwanis Down Syndrome Foundation is a very special place for us all as this
is the place where we were able to interact with the kids and at the same time help to do some
good hearted deed. So this place will always have a place in our hearts.
As a result, we are able to feel connected to every of the special kids there regarding their
wants and needs. It is a small price to pay as to be able to see the smiles we have bought back to
them is truly priceless moment.

Approximate objectives :

Throughout this charity drive, we did a little survey on the approximate target that we wish to
accomplish by the end of the charity drive. This is to give us some added motivation of not only
able to reach our required target of RM2500 in order to get an A in this assignment but doing it
for the purpose of the special kids in our thoughts.

With this plan we are able to manage our time accordingly for each day inching forward
towards our target. Below is the approximate target we wish to accomplish from this charity
drive assignment:
Target Sales : RM 1500
Target Donation : RM 1000

At the end of this assignment, we did experienced some bumps and knocks here and there
but through our sheer determination we are able to succeed in reaching our target sales and
donation amount that will bring about a sturdy profit to cover up for the operating expenses.

Target Market

A brief background of our customers

First of all during the whole week we are having the charity drive, we have experienced the
many types of customers buying our products.
Most of our customer are from Taylor's consisting of mainly students and some staffs.
while the rest are visitors of Taylor's University.
Secondly from what we have observed from our customers, we concluded their wants and
needs. From the wants perspective, most of our customers are quite content on paying the
amount for our clothes for RM 35 and above as it was deemed quite expensive.
From the needs perspective, we find out that the condition of the weather can affect the
mood and need of the customers on that day. Like for example, during most hot weather, we will
get a big influx of customers buying soda drinks to quench their thirst.
Furthermore, from what we are able to take into account their wants and needs, we were
able to make some minor adjustments in making sponsored clothes by Rockiss profitable.
Lastly when explaining about their wants and needs, we must also take into account their
spending power. Spending power in this case means the amount of money a person is willing to
spend on a product. They will only put their money where the mouth is if they think the products
we are selling are quite suitable to their target price range. They will also consider buying more
and introduce it to their friends after being satisfied by it. For most, they are willing to spend
because they like the drinks. However, some are willing to spend for the sake of charity.
So we can conclude that most customers will be willing to buy if they deem the products
worth it and at the same time able to give them benefits. This is the case from what our soda
drinks can bring to our customers. A touch of freshness to those who drank it and trust us they
will come back for more and bring along one or more of their friends to try it out.

Competition Analysis

In any business you set up either it is for a charity drive or to fulfill a life long dream, you
will be expected to be competing against others in the same market industry.

PRODUCT AND PACKAGING

The products that we are selling are soda drinks and clothes. One of our group members, Dayana
went and meet up with the supplier and order few boxes of soda drinks. The soda drinks are
always kept in a good condition. In addition, Dayana was also in charged to meet and make a
deal with the owner of Rockiss about the sponsorship. I think our products will attract the
costumers to buy it because with the nicely decorated banners and posters we have set up at our
stall, we are sure it would not be missed a mile away in the eye of customers. The most
important thing is our drinks are very refreshing and the clothes are all in trend for teenagers.

Pricing Products Selling Price

Soda Drink RM 5.00 for 1 unit

Clothes RM 35.00 to RM 60.00 for 1 unit

People bought from us mainly because they wanted to satisfy themselves with these tasty
and refreshing soda that we were selling due to the hot weather.

What are your strategies if you have difficulty selling them? What if you are selling them
faster than anticipated? (Remember, if you set the prices too high, customers will not buy from
you. If you set them too low, then you will not maximize profit) We promoted to everyone, this
means that we went around the campus and asked every single one even though they did not
want to buy. We called it the 'kamikaze' strategy, where we just went and asked without
considering how would they react. Also, we set our prices of our products smartly by using our
intelligence and psychology concepts that we had learned in our university so that people would
consider buying, without complaining the prices and at the same time, making great profits.

Nevertheless, we decorated our stall nicely and attractive so that people would get
attracted to buy our products and there is a saying : Nobody wants to eat in an empty restaurant,
if you get what it means.

We also walked around campus to sell our product(drinks especially) when sales were
not going well.

Promotion

During our charity drive, we used the social media as one of our strategies to deliver our
intentions and messages. Moreover, in terms of social media I mean Facebook because in this
modern world of technology and civilization, it is an almost must for every person as it have a
huge varieties ways for sharing whatever you want to the whole world in form of text or pictures
from the most common info to the most personal, you can even specifically shows information to

your own friends and family. Furthermore, everyone in our group has Facebook so we share
out what and why we are doing the charity to the public in hope that people will find us and
helps us fulfill these poor little orphans dreams little by little. Another benefits that we gain
from using social media as a way of promotion is that it has zero cost and it is very efficient for
our cause since we all are still students and are enable to manage a handful of costs. (Picture of
our way of promoting through social media)
In addition to that, we think that face to face communication is the best way to raise fund
for our charity. Although we seem hesitant at first, we eventually overcome it after trying it for
so many times. There were mixed reactions given to us, as some even doubted us if our
campaign was real or not. However, overall we did the best we could and we experienced there
were kind and good people in which some of them even donated more than we expected.

Distribution

Our products for the charity drive were placed at one of our group member's houses and
early each morning she will brought to Taylors University Lakeside Campus by car (vehicles
owned by group members). The products were then carried to our stall and set up to be sold. The
products are not renewed throughout the day as the number of products expected to be sold are
estimated through calculation for each day. The numbers of products sold each day are also
manipulated by the amount of profit generated after each sale; the target must be reached each
day. All our products were set up before we started selling such that customers did not have to
wait for our products. Furthermore, we also walked around campus while carrying our products
on trays to make it more convenient for customers to purchase our products.

GREEN MEASURES

Before we really get going, the first thought in our mind was to provide our customers
with environmentally friendly products that are hygienic. Mr. Joe has insist us on taking it since
there are previous cases where the customers will feel a bit sick from eating the hand-made food
products. Even though we did not taken the injection, since our drinks are well sealed, but we

still followed other precautionary actions before like washing our hands with Dettol and to
ensure our hands are dry. So that our customers will still trust us on the cleanliness of our
products and come back to buy some more and might even introduce their friends to buy it as
well. All this is possible if we are able to gather positive feedback on its cleanliness even though
the quality is up to standard.
As for the packaging of clothes, Rockiss had prepared the cloth bag for us as for the
packaging. It is a very environmentally friendly packaging which only minimal waste created.
Additional, for our drinks, we did not provide any plastic bag for our customer because it
comes in glass bottle and people can easily hold or keep it in their bag. Some of the products
wastes(bottles) will mostly be thrown into the rubbish bin in an orderly manner.
In order to properly manage our resources on that day which included ice, we decided to
place it in our member's freezer to actually prevent us from wasting all those ice cubes that is
used to keep the soda drinks fresh and cool unintended.
Overall what is important is how we must treat our customers as our main priority by
providing them with hygienic and quality goods. In addition it is also importance on how to
manage our waste properly to give out a good first impression towards our customers.

Human Resources Planning

Human Resource planning serves as a link between human resources management and the
overall strategic plan of an organization. We used human resources planning as a process to
identify the human resources required for us to achieve our goals. We discussed financial plans
to ensure that we could achieve the goal of earning a profit of RM1500 within 5 days. Although
we were only a small stall with only 5 staff, we developed a strategic plan to guide decisions.

Our strategic Human Resources planning allowed us have a view from a budgetary point so that
we were able to factor the costs of products into our operating budget. Organizational Structure
for Stuff...Lah!
Group Leader (Dayana Binti Kamarulzaman)
Finance Accountant (Sabrina)
Sales Executive Promotion and Marketing (Edwin Ho Khai Vun)
Product Manager Receptionist (Chia Sue Yi) (Goh Jeng Jhieh)

Dayana Binti Kamarulzaman as our group leader was responsible for the planning, management,
coordination and financial control of Stuff...Lah!.
Sabrina, our accountant was in charge of managing and supervising daily operation of accounts
payable, accounts receivable, cash receipts, and assists in the preparation of the financial report.
(Your name), our product manager was in charge of the purchase and inventory of our product
stock.
Furthermore, (Your Name) who was in charge of promotion and marketing prepared our
promotional posters and headed discussions on promotional strategies.
(Your Name), our receptionist was in charge of promoting products and services to customers at
our stall and advertised our campaign for MDDB to customers.
Altogether, we were able to succeed in our goals by working effectively as a team due to our
strategic human resources planning that allowed us to cooperate well with all our group members.

Evaluation of Results

The goals we set out to achieve in our business charity drive project were to gather
support from sponsors, locate appropriate suppliers, achieve a profit of RM2, 500 and donate our
capital, sales revenue and collected donations successfully to Kiwanis Down Syndrome
Foundation. Each of our group members was assigned to their respective tasks by our group
leader.
Firstly, we approached a few companies and people and request their sponsorship. After a
few attempts, we successfully gathered RM ****. Also, we each contributed RM 138 as capital
to purchase our stock. It was quite difficult to find suppliers who were willing to supply us with
their goods at cheaper prices. So, we often had to make adjustments in deciding what products to
sell. However, in the end we have managed to locate our suppliers and our business was able to
run smoothly.
With the cooperation of every group member, we have managed to effectively run our
business from 8am to 6pm every day. We took shifts to run our business as we had to take turns
to attend classes. The system we used was very efficient and we that it did not adversely affect
our business or our classes.
In conclusion, we feel that our business was run very effectively during its five day
duration. We managed to achieve our target profit of RM 2500 and we also fell that we managed
to raise awareness for Kiwanis Down Syndrome Foundation, our chosen charity organization.
We also fell very happy that we were able to donate our entire profit to Kiwanis Down
Syndrome Foundation as we fell that our contribution will go a long way in supporting them.
As for what we did wrong, we feel that each member put in his/her best effort in our
charity drive and we are happy with our outcome. However, there were times when we received
negative feedback from customers who would either ignore us or even insult our products. This
really disheartened us and there were times when our low moral affected our sales. Nevertheless,
we have learnt a very important lesson and that is, people will say what they want to say and we
must never allow it to affect us. So, if asked what we would do differently, we would definitely
ignore the negative criticism received and instead have confidence in ourselves and our cause.
