Sport

I am a regular player in the Universitys football team, was captain of the school
football team and also ran in the school cross-country team. I have recently taken up
squash.

Conservation

Member of the University of York Conservation Volunteers. Involves carrying out


practical conversation tasks in teams in and around York, such as building fences and
footpaths, digging ditches and planting trees. In Summer 2002 I took part in a
Millennium Volunteers project to create a sensery garden for a local community,
involving garden design, plant selection and planting.

I have a reasonable knowledge of written and spoken German and basic French skills.
I am a good team player, capable of working with others to achieve a goal but also able
to work independently. I have good written and oral communication skills.
Hobbies and interests
I play hockey and tennis for the University of York and I was a regular player in the
hockey and netball teams whilst at school. I also helped the PE teacher with coaching
younger players. I play the guitar and used to be in a band with some of my friends
whilst at school. Our greatest achievement was winning a regional Battle of the Bands
contest and we regularly played around the Glasgow area. I also enjoy visiting the
cinema, listening to music and reading.

Member of the University Chinese Society and have been involved in promoting the
