To understand the basic concept and mechanics of conduction involved in


Cartesian coordinates and also in one dimensional steady and unsteady
state considered with internal heat generation. Also understand the
Applications like fins, insulation pipes, and heat treatment Mechanical
properties.
To understand the basic concept of convection and its types such as natural
convection, boundary layer concept, forced convection. Also understand
the Applications involved in flow over plates, cylinder and spheres
considering laminar and turbulent flows.
To understand the theory and correlation involved in boiling and
condensation. To analyse the heat exchangers and its types considering
various factors.
To understand the basic concept and mechanics involved in radiation
considering black and grey bodies and also to understand the shape factor
algebra techniques. Also understand the Applications like Electrical
engineering, Radiation shield in nuclear power plant.
To understand the basic concept and mechanics involved in mass transfer
considering the basic laws and also to understand the Correlation
techniques. Also understand the basic concepts of gas radiation.
COURSE OUTCOMES
OUTCOME
Understood the basic concepts of conduction, different types of conduction
modes, applications of conduction and to select proper thermal
conductivity and heat transfer at steady and unsteady for designing
material.
Students will be able to apply the principle of convection for different
types of flow problems
Students can able to design heat exchangers for industrial applications
Students will be able to design the radiation shield
Students will be able to apply the principles of mass transfer in various
types of diffusion and understand the various types of application such as
cooling tower, caruberetor, nuclear reactor.
