LMT overview
l LMT software
It is the Operation & Maintenance (O&M) terminal of a NodeB
It is composed of the Operation & Maintenance system, Alarm
Management System, Configuration Management System and Trace
Viewer.
l Software at NodeB side

It includes the NodeB software and data configuration files and is
distributed over boards in the NodeB.
The LMT software installation is prior to the installation of the software
at the NodeB side.

Some Concepts of Data File

uWhat is the data file?
The data files of the NodeB contain its basic data information. They are
independent of the NodeB software:
Data configuration file : it records NodeB configuration information
Operation log file :
it records NodeB maintenance information.
Equipment archives :
it records manufacturing information of all

boards in the NodeB
uWhat is the upload and download?

Upload: You can upload data files from the NodeB to the FTP Server
for
viewing, modifying and saving. Upload has no impact on the NodeB
Download: You can download updated data files

from the FTP Server to the NodeB

Commission Prerequisites for the NodeB

Before integrating a NodeB, ensure that:
The hardware of the NodeB, such as the cabinet, cables, and
antenna system, have passed the check.
We need finish the hardware acceptance check. The NodeB
(including 2 BBUS and all RRUS) has passed the power-on check
and it is powered on.
We have a laptop and can connect the BBU through a
crossover cable.

Setting IP Address in your laptop

You can log in to the NodeB on the LMT only when the IP address of
the LMT PC is correctly set.
For local maintenance on the LMT, the IP addresses of the LMT PC
and the NodeB local maintenance channel stay within the same
network segment.
You need set IP Address is 17.21.2.33 and mask is 255.255.0.0
in your laptop.

Procedure of the upgrading the software

Prepare for the required software.
Disconnect the optical cables between the standby BBU and the RRUs.
Disconnect the cables that interconnect the active BBU and the standby
BBU.
Checking the compatibility of the current NodeB software version
Upgrade the Standby BBU (Including the BootRoom and Software).
Upgrade the Active BBU and RRUS (Including the BootRoom and
Software).
Setting the DIP Switch on the Standby BBU.
Connect the Optical cables between the standby BBU and the RRUs.
Connect the active BBU and the standby BBU.
Finished the upgrade the software.

Checking the compatibility of the current NodeB

software version
A NodeB can support two software versions, an active version and a
standby version. The standby version is null for a new NodeB.
Using LST SOFTWARE to get the NodeB software version.
Record the version information and check whether the current Nod
software version is the one requested.
If the current NodeB software version is the requested one, we dont
need upgrade the software. Otherwise we need upgrade the
NodeB to the requested software version.

Introduction to the BootROM

A BootROM is a writable and erasable storage medium for binary
data (machine code).
The BootROM software refers to the software bound with hardware. It
provides basic device drive function and can be started and updated
manually.
The fixed file name of the BootROM software is NBRom.pck.

Select the Maintenance
tab and choose Service >
Software Management.
Then double-click Software
Update. The Software
Update dialog box is
displayed, as shown in .
Select Upgrade
BOOTROM in the dialog
box.
Click Next.

BOOTROM Package and

dialog box. Then select the
NodeB BootROM software
version to be upgraded in
the Browse box.

The file name of the NodeB software package is NodeB.pck.
The NodeB software package is downloaded from the FTP server to the
NodeB.
The downloaded NodeB software in the standby file directory neither
takes effect immediately nor damages the active software.

software package, perform
the following steps:
Select the Maintenance
tab and choose Service >
Then double-click Software
Update.

Introduction to the Configuration File

The file name of the NodeB data configuration file is NodeBCfg.xml.
To download a data configuration file is to download a data configuration file
from the FTP server to the NodeB. The new data configuration file takes effect
after NodeB reset.
Huawei engineers will provide every site configuration file to the partner
software engineers.
If you know how to use the software CME, you can check the
configuration file is right or wrong according to the equipment
surrounding on site.
We only can log in the active BBU after setting the DIP Switch on the
Standby BBU.

Reset the NodeB

Reset the NodeB when:
The new data becomes valid after static data update or after the
download of NodeB data configuration file.
The NodeB fails and needs initialization.
Reset the NodeB Procedure:
Execute the RST SYS .
Five minutes later, the DBS3800 will work normly.

Device Panel,

on the NodeB LMT.

Checking Internal Connections of the

Distributed NodeB
This procedure is performed to ensure normal connections inside the
distributed NodeB before it accesses the WCDMA Radio Access
network (RAN).
Execute LST RRUCHAIN on the NodeB LMT.
Execute DSP RRUCHAINSTATE on the NodeB LMT to check the
RRU chain or ring status.

Checking Locell Status

To check the cell status, perform the following steps:
Execute DSP LOCELL on the NodeB LMT to query the status of
all
local cells and logical cells. If a local cell or a logical cell is abnormal,
clear the fault according to relevant LMT alarm online help.
Locell is set up in NodeB and logical cell is set up in RNC. After
commission, locell will be set up. After integration and swap, both
logical cell and locell will be set up.

Check the Alarms
When you see the

alarms before swap,
the NodeB status is
normal.
If you find the

other alarms, you
need solve the
problems.
If you cant solve

the problems, please
you inform Huawei
engineer.

Check the Service

After the swap, we need to test the service.
Huawei will provide the test mobile and data card and you need
install the test software in advance.
We need complete the below test table. For example voice call
and video call , data download and upload service test, HSDPA
function test.
