Introduction
The over-all purpose of creativity is to change ideas or produce
additional new ones. This Report has been put together for you as
an idea creator... more than anything else; you will find in it simple
creative ideas, some of which have lead to great discoveries and
advancements.
Short stories and ideas from well-known names and also from
some not so well-known ones...
We want you to try and put yourself in the persons shoes. What
would it have been like for them, when they first had this creative
idea and what would it have been like for them persevering and
not giving up until the completion of their creation?
We can all develop creative behaviour... it is effective and
reinforces high self-esteem. We can all learn to respond creatively
so long as we are prepared to risk changing our thoughts.
All you have to do is to learn the skills of good communication.
These include; learning to use your imagination... learning to
listen... learning to deal with criticism... and learning to give
constructive feedback.

Creativity
There is no doubt that creativity is the most important human
resource of all. Without creativity, there would be no progress,
and we would be forever repeating the same patterns
- Edward de Bono

reativity is used to cover the process, the result and the

attitudes of mind involved in generating ideas. If a person
comes up with a great new idea or with a number of alternative
ideas, then that person is said to be creative...

When we think of a career which needs a lot of creative thought,

we usually think of painting, writing, acting or advertising...
But in effect... every job calls for a bit of your creative powers
every now and then and it takes surprisingly little time and effort
to get started increasing your creativity, which is sure to make you
a winner no matter what field of endeavour or career you
undertake.
Creativity is behind every new idea, desire and daydream you get from something as small as what should I have for launch? To
something big like the best way to say Im sorry to a loved one.
It also lies behind every great innovation and advancement - from
the invention of the wheel, to the creation of the light bulb!
Logic may have eventually worked out the method of rubbing two
sticks together to produce smoke, and then make fire... but it was
creative imagination, that first envisioned having the flames of a
fire blazing in the first place.
Creativity is such a natural trait, that we often take it for granted
and rarely notice its presence or its importance in our everyday
lives...
Its creativity that allows you to come up with ingenious solutions to
your problems and difficulties; it also gives you the ability to
brainstorm new ideas to help you achieve any goals you like
whatever they may be.

Every creation made by a person, every tool, every instrument,

every utensil, every book, article, song, game, film etc... evolved
from very simple beginnings along the line of experimentation and
creative imagination.
Everything made by people is put together, made up of material
parts; and the idea of every such thing is made up of simpler and
more elemental ideas, united and combined in creative
imagination.
This is the only way in which we have ever invented or created
anything; and this is always the way in which you must proceed in
you work of creative imagination.
This one truth is so simple that most people entirely overlook it...
you may never have thought about it in this way, until you now
have it presented to you in this Special Report!

How Can You Become

A Creative Genius
It is the child in us that is the source of our uniqueness
and creativeness, and the playground is the optimal
milieu for the unfolding of our capacities and talents
- Eric Hoffer

he first factor that cuts most of us off from our creative side is
simply growing up...

You have only to look at childrens drawings, paintings and stories

to see that creativity develops quickly in early childhood.
But tests have shown that most of us have lost our creative urge
by the age of seven...
Why then dose our creativity disappear by the age of just seven?
Well this loss of creativeness is not very surprising according to
Professor Mark Runco, founder of the Creativity Research Journal.
Apparently, it takes only about a year in the educational system to
discourage children (and the adults they later become) from
relating to their creative sides. The professor then goes on to say,
We put children in groups and make them sit in
desks and raise their hands before they talk. We
put all the emphasis on conformity and order, then
we wonder why they arent being spontaneous
and creative

Is it any wonder then creativity, of all the abilities we possess - is

the one in which most people rank themselves especially low in.
This is not unexpected, because as we have realized from the
above, creative thinking is generally left out of education... any
activity which involves imagination, colour, rhythm, or form has
been traditionally frowned upon as less intelligent.

Luckily we have more information with which to work with - and

creativity can now be seen as a necessary part of a well balanced
education and personality.
A second factor that hampers our creativeness is that we assume
and even believe that creative people must have some special
ability or have enormous IQs, and since we think our ability and
IQs arent all that high, we then go on to further assume - that we
cant be all that creative.
But its really quite the opposite...
You see highly successful painters, singers, writers, scientists and
other creative types of people are no smarter than anyone else.
We all posses a creative side its just a question of how we
develop this creative side of us, and also how we desire to use it.
The whole idea of freeing the creative spirit is
reclaiming the power that each person has had
from birth. It's a birthright to be a creative person
- Adriana Diaz

What Is Creative Dreaming?

n our analysis of the process of thinking we have found that

much of our thinking is conscious, purposeful, and logical. We
grasp a problem, concentrate on it, collect evidence and draw
conclusions.
We also find that there are times when we, can hardly be said to
have drawn the conclusions; but instead we somehow arrive at
them, or they occur to us.
Sometimes when we are not even consciously occupied with the
problem at hand our thinking has still been going on at
subconscious levels.
When our problem is one that is very important to us, or one that
calls for originality, some of our thinking is likely to be of the
subconscious kind.
Take for example - Albert Einstein, this renowned physicist and
mathematician, did not get his ideas from only the mathematical
part of his brain he creatively imagined many of the laws of the
universe beforehand. Only then was he able to apply his
mathematical ability to that initial creative image.
Einstein described in his diary how the basis of his Special Theory
of Relativity came to him, as did the groundbreaking creative
insights of many other scientists, when he fell into a reverie or a
daydream during a lengthy car journey
Mozart also wrote - that the ideas for his most greatest work
and music seemed to come to him while;
traveling in a carriage, after a good meal,
or during the night when I cannot sleep

The vision which inspired the Sistine Chapel came to Michelangelo

only after - being outraged with his first attempts, he scraped his
early work on the chapel and went out for a stroll in the country.
Or the story of the 19th-century German physicist Kekule who
finally discovered the mystery of how molecules connected to one

another after a daydream about a snake lying in a circle with its

tail in its mouth he explained that after a nice dinner he turned
his chair to the fire, relaxed and;
The atoms were right before my eyes, long rows,
all twining and twisting in a snakelike motion - one
of the snakes had seized hold of its own tail and
was whirled mockingly before my eyes

Its no secret that many of the worlds most famous scientific and
artistic achievements came in the form of daydreams - but people
have also been known to solve their problems even during sleep.
It is said that the inventor of the sewing machine, dreamed the
solution to his problem of modifying an ordinary sewing needle to
fit the conditions imposed by his machine
And after much unsuccessful experimentation, he dreamed one
night that he was being threatened by a lost tribe who were
brandishing spears, and strange to say - a thread of sinew ran
through the blade of each spear.
Here in the image of the spear, was the much-sought-after clue he
had been looking for put the eye of the machine needle in the
point instead of at the other end he thought.
For Thomas Edison, the idea for the first successful light bulb
came, after thousands of failures, and in the midst of one of his
legendary naps
Robert Louis Stevenson credited a dream he once had, with the
inspiration for his world famous story Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
It should be noted, however, that this dream like activity is only a
part of the whole process of solving a problem!
The process of creative thinking in any field of
human endeavor often starts with what may be
called a "rational vision," itself a result of previous
study, thinking, and observation
- Erich Fromm

Without previous concentration the inventor or creator would

probably not have had so vivid a dream and neither would they

have grasped so surely the meaning of the dream or image they

had seen.
You may have even had it happen to you before? Almost everyone
can recall moments when ideas or insights have automatically
burst into their mind from somewhere, moments when you grasp
the solution to a troublesome problem, suddenly have a new
perspective that opens up new possibilities, or are struck with a
creative inspiration.
So you see your success was not so much a matter of mere
chance or simply luck, as it first might have appeared to be

How To Get That Creative Urge

he first computers in the early fifties were operated by typing in

long sequences of command numbers and letters, and
computer experts and designers got used to it being that way.
So when it came time to design the home computer, they fell back
on the familiar way of operating it - typing in long commands.
The result of this was the near failure of the home computer.
It was only when Steve Jobs the CEO of Apple Computers broke
away from the familiar responses and assumptions that he realized
the computer could be made to type its own commands; all the
user should have to do is click a little icon on the screen to start
the process.
Steves assumption was right and this helped to ignite Apple and
the personal computer revolution in the 1970s with the Apple II and
reinvention of the personal computer in the 1980s with the
Macintosh.
Apple Computers is one long story of creative inspirations
beginning with the user-friendly graphics and icons, and continuing
with the astounding success of the cheerful and colorful IMAC.
Apple also seems to be leading the digital music revolution with its
latest creative development iPod portable music players, and
iTunes online music store
One day a daring young man left Harvard University In his junior
year; to devote his energies to a small company he had begun in
1975 with one of his childhood friends called Paul Allen.
The two were guided by one simple-creative-belief... and that
belief was...
That the computer would be a valuable tool
on every office desktop and in every home

They quickly began to develop software for personal computers

and ended up changing the computer industry, by starting a

revolution which has changed the way we live, work and

communicate forever.
His name was William (Bill) H. Gates - and the small company he
had begun was called Microsoft
Today he is the chairman and chief software architect of Microsoft
Corporation, the worldwide leader in software, services and
solutions that have helped millions of people and businesses
worldwide.
In just 24 years Gates had turned Microsoft into a great success
story with revenues of US$36.84 billion for the fiscal year ending
June 2004, and now employs more than 55,000 people in 85
countries and regions.
Not only this but just this one idea alone has literally turned Mr.
Gates, into one of the richest men in the world today!
Michael S. Dell started a computer business out of his dorm room
in 1984 with nothing more than $1,000 and a creative idea... as he
says:
"I realised that the computer market was very
inefficient. The mark-ups were incredibly high
over the cost of materials and the service was
very poor."

Dell Computer is today the largest personal computer company in

the world - Michael Dell stepped down as CEO in 2004 - with a net
worth in the $16 billion range, and he is only in his early 40s.
As you can see, original creative ideas are so fundamental to
success you cant afford the lack of them to stand in your way any
longer
And its not just the history of the technological age where we can
see great examples of this
Creativeness often consists of merely turning up
what is already there. Did you know that right
and left shoes were thought up only a little more
than a century ago?
- Bernice Fitz-Gibbon

The brewing, serving, and drinking of tea, has existed since 2000
B.C but it wasnt until around 1908 when Thomas Sullivan a tea
and coffee merchant in New York, began packaging tea samples
in tiny silk bags - many of his customers brewed their tea in the
bags rather than in the traditional way of brewing loose tea in a
teapot, and the tea bag was born.
Bread was first baked over 4,500 years ago meat has been
around even longer, but it still took another forty-three hundred
years before the 4th Earl of Sandwich, John Montagu came up
with the creative idea that made the Sandwich.
The story goes; he was too involved in a card game to have a
formal meal, so he instructed his cook to put some meat between
two slices of bread to save him time. He named the snack after
himself.
The modern flush toilet was invented in 1775, but it wasnt until
over 80 years later that Joseph Gayetty, had the creative ideas
which lead to the creation of toilet paper. Before Gayetty's
invention, people tore pages out of mail order catalogs - before
catalogs were common, leaves were used
Although blinking lights have been around for more than five
decades, it wasnt until the 1940s that anyone thought of putting
them on the back of cars.
Until then everyone went around indicating a turn with hand
signals, or by pulling a lever to activate a mechanical arm which
pointed straight out for left or straight up for right.
Unable to pay for college, Thomas Monaghan bought a single
pizza place in 1960 in Ypsilanti, Michigan
Thomas noted that people were often willing to drive several miles,
for take-away Chinese food and Pizza on Friday and Saturday
nights he came up with the creative idea of a restaurant that
delivers its food to the customers. The result of this was?
He turned his single pizza shop into the Domino's Pizza Empire now with more than 7,000 locations and some $4 billion in annual
sales. And as Thomas Monaghan says;

Delivery at the time was pretty minimal, so I decided

to focus on that, and it was the best thing I've done.
Nobody thought you could make money on delivery.
Most places just delivered to get some volume before
they could afford to cut out the delivery. But I thought
I could do it. It was a challenge. I just had to figure out how

A retired southerner named Harlan Sanders seen that pizza and

other restaurants were becoming very popular and got the creative
idea that a restaurant specializing in the kind of good old
fashioned, finger lickin fried chicken grandmother used to make
might attract customers also.
The result was: Col. Sanders Kentucky Fried Chicken was born!
(Also known as KFC)
Today more than a billion of the Colonel's "finger lickin good"
chicken dinners are served annually. And not just in America. The
Colonel's cooking is available in more than 80 countries and
territories around the world.
An endless number of these creative ideas and unmade
connections still exist to this day - you are literally surrounded by
simple, obvious solutions that can dramatically increase your
income, power, influence, and success
The only real problem is, simply learning how to see them, and
then using them.

Your Creative Imagination

Imagination is more important than knowledge. For while
knowledge defines all we currently know and understand,
imagination points to all we might yet discover and create.
- Albert Einstein

ur knowledge is limited we can never know everything but

your imagination changers the world, by stimulating progress
and giving birth to evolution and new ideas

What is true imagination, but a belief in the impossible and what

is that but a launching site for creativity?
Imagination is perhaps the most glamorous and definitely the most
vital of the creative factors and awaking your imagination can be
one of the most enjoyable and rewarding exercises in developing
your creative faculties.
The 1 Simple Rule of Imagination
In order to exercise and expand your imagination, you must follow
one simple rule and this rule is: Never Suppress Your Curiosity
It really is this simple as most psychologists say, that there is a
close relationship between your curiosity and imagination.
And since solutions in one field or line of work are often suggested
and found by techniques used in another - curiosity about any field
or line of work outside of your own, should be welcomed and
gratified by finding out all about it.
The Wright brothers were not aerospace engineers but bicycle
mechanics - and yet they went on to invent the first ever airplane.
How did these two men, Wilbur and Orville Wright, working
essentially alone and with little formal scientific training, solve a
problem as complex and demanding as heavier-than-air flight,
which had defied better-known experts for centuries?
On December 17, 1903, at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, the Wright
Flyer became the first powered, heavier-than-air machine to

achieve controlled, sustained flight with a pilot aboard. It flew a

distance of 37m for 12 seconds.
These two small town businessmen had invented a technology
that would define the 20th century and they used the power of
creative-imagination to do it!
From the time we were little children my brother
Orville and myself lived together. We usually owned
all of our toys in the common, talked over our thoughts
and aspirations so that nearly everything that was done
in our lives has been the result of conversations,
suggestions and discussion between us
- Wilbur Wright, 1912

How they used Creative Discussions;

I like scrapping with Orville, Wilbur said.
Hes such a good scrapper

Heated discussions were a frequent and significant aspect of the

Wrights creative process. Their ability to defend a position with
genuine passion, while considering the others point of view, was
essential to their inventive success
It wasnt an engineer or a mechanic that created the first gasolinepowered tractor in 1892, but a blacksmith from Iowa named John
Froehlich.
Albert Einstein, properly speaking, was not a physicist but a
mathematician. Yet his findings and discoverys in mathematics
completely turned upside down all the pet theories in physics.
Consider the creative experience of a shopkeeper from Dayton,
Ohio called Jacob Ritty.
One day while on a transatlantic voyage, Ritty was fascinated with
the device that recorded the propeller revolutions of the ship
Eventually, Ritty Imagined the same principle could be used to
register the amount of money rung up in the shopkeepers till.

The result was the cash register - which even today is still being
put to great use in every store, shop and business right across the
world.
Some people sneered at Henry Ford, as having had only one good
idea in all his life yes, but this was a big creative idea,
How to make cars cheap enough for the millions

And Henry Ford soon realized his dream of producing an

automobile that was reasonably priced, reliable, and efficient - with
the introduction of the Model T in 1908.
Fords Model T initiated a new era in personal transportation. It
was easy to operate, maintain, and handle on rough roads,
immediately becoming a huge success.
This one creative idea, not only made Mr. Ford a very wealthy and
successful man but by 1918, (just 10 years after Ford first
developed his car) half of all cars in America were Henry Fords
Model Ts.
We could probably list a dozen more examples but we are sure
by now, you are starting to see the real power of what even the
smallest of creative ideas can accomplish for you!
Vision without action is merely a dream.
Action without vision just passes the time.
Vision with action can change the world!
- Joel Arthur Barker

Creation From Your Mistakes

e should never underestimate the power of our mistakes.

Most of us get annoyed, upset or even worried when we
make a mistake. But a select few creative individuals have chosen
to not be beaten by any mistakes they happen to make
These creative individuals look at their mistakes as simply
stepping stones on their journey towards success.
While the average person is being discouraged and upset by their
mistakes and end up giving up altogether - the creative mind is
being empowered by them.
Accidental Creations
In 1905, a boy called Frank Epperson, who was at that time, just
eleven years old, mixed powdered soda with water and stirred it
with a stick.
Powdered soda was a popular drink mix in that era. What was
different was that young Frank accidentally left his soda on the
front porch overnight with the stirring stick still in it. Of course,
when the temperature dropped overnight, the mixture froze and
Frank had a stick of frozen soda water to show his friends at
school.
It wasnt until eighteen years later - Frank remembered the incident
and he applied for, and was granted a patent.
He then started producing what he called 'Epsicles' in seven fruit
flavors. The name never took off, and his family later changed the
name to Popsicle. Today over three million 'Popsicles' are sold
every year.
George Crum, a Native American chef came across a creative
accident in August, 1953. Apparently one of his customers
repeatedly sent his potatoes back to the chef claiming they weren't
thin enough or fried long enough

Crum, becoming extremely annoyed by this and decided to fix the

man by slicing the potatoes paper thin and cooking them until they
were so crisp they couldnt be eaten with a fork.
The customer loved them and actually requested more. The
potato chip was born. (Also know as crisp).
One day an old Arabian man was traveling across the desert, he
had with him a pouch - which was made from sheeps stomach in
those days! Anyway, he poured his milk into it and continued on
his way. Later, he opened the pouch to find, curds and whey.
The constant movement, the hot sun and chemicals from the
sheeps stomach had clumped up the milk into, you guessed it?...
Cheese.
In 1928, while researching the flu virus, Alexander Fleming noticed
that one of his culture plates had become contaminated with
mould
The mould had developed accidentally on a staphylococcus
culture plate and had also created a bacteria-free circle around
itself. Other scientists may have recoiled in horror at this result of
shoddy work practice, but not Alexander. He chose to investigate!
Whatever this mould was, it was killing off the Staphylococcus bug
- a bug causing everything from boils to toxic shock syndrome.
With further experiments he found that this mould culture
prevented growth of staphylococci - even when diluted 800 times.
And he decided to name this active substance Penicillin.
The problem was, naturally occurring penicillin isn't very stable and
thus not very useful. Fleming had found a wonder drug, but
unfortunately couldn't do much with it. Luckily just three years later
two Oxford researchers created a stable form, and to this day
penicillin is still one of our most important tools in the fight against
disease.
An accidental discovery announced, has taken LED lighting to a
new level, suggesting it could soon offer a cheaper, longer-lasting
alternative to the traditional light bulb.

LEDs are already used in traffic lights, flashlights, and architectural

lighting. They are flexible and operate less expensively than
traditional lighting.
Michael Bowers, a graduate student at Vanderbilt University, was
just trying to make really small quantum dots, which are crystals
generally only a few nanometers big.
That's less than 1/1000th the width of a human hair.
When you shine a light on quantum dots or apply electricity to
them, they react by producing their own light, normally a bright,
vibrant color but when Bowers shined a laser on his batch of
dots, something much unexpected happened!
Bowers said;
"I was surprised when a white glow covered the
table, the quantum dots were supposed to emit
blue light, but instead they were giving off a
beautiful white glow."

Then Bowers and another student got the creative idea to stir the
dots into polyurethane and coat a blue LED light bulb with the mix.
The lumpy bulb wasn't pretty, but it produced white light similar to
a regular light bulb.
This new device gives off a warm, yellowish-white light that shines
twice as bright and lasts 50 times longer than the standard 60 watt
light bulb...
SAS troops recently discovered a new secret weapon against
booby traps and tripwires... and surprisingly it doesnt come in the
form of some new battle-ready imaging device, but in the form of
silly string!
America has spent millions developing infa-red and ultra violet hitech imaging devices to show up tripwires... the problem has been
these are both bulky and not robust enough for combat conditions.
However the solution to this has been found by using $2 cans of
silly string which the SAS buy from Woolworths shopping store.

They spray the joke substance to expose virtually invisible trip

wires in anywhere from caves to darkened buildings they must
enter. The brightly coloured string hangs across the wires, but is
too light to set off explosives.
How did they ever discover this?
The creative idea was born when some one brought along a can of
silly string with them to a Christmas bash at their HQ. They let the
silly string lose... some landed on fishing line which was holding up
the Christmas decorations.
And...Bingo the idea was born

It is said to work very well and there is no doubt that a

considerable number of lives have been saved and others have
been spared from horrendous maiming.
Did you know Superglue was discovered by accident, too?
Superglue, or Krazy Glue, is actually a substance called
'cyanoacrylate'.
Dr. Harry Coover accidentally discovered it twice, the first time in
1942, when he was trying to develop an optically clear plastic for
gun sights and the second time nine years later, when he was
trying to develop a heat-resistant polymer for jet canopies.
On both occasions his new product proved to be too sticky for the
job, and when he went to report this to his supervisor his thoughts
were not about inventing Superglue, but rather about how to
explain: how he had just stuck together and ruined a $50,000 set
of lenses.
Finally he realized his sticky glue might have a use and in 1958 it
was marketed as "Superglue".
In fact Superglue turned out to be more than just useful. It saved
the lives of countless soldiers in Vietnam when it was used to seal
battlefield wounds before the injured could be transported to a
hospital...

In working towards the achievement of any goal through the

creative imagination, you must first begin to put this and that
together, along the lines of experimentation, trials, and tests.
You must arrange your creative building-blocks, first in one way,
and then in another way. You must proceed with the idea that
somewhere in these creative building-blocks there is the definite
certainty of a successful combination and its up to you to find it!
Remember as you persevere
Even in your creative mistakes there often lays hidden secrets of
the exact combination which you are looking for. You can only
discover your creation by using effort, ideas and experiments - and
if you continue to experiment faithfully, intelligently, and creatively
you will surly discover the solution to the problems at hand.
Discovery consists of looking at the same thing
as everyone else and thinking something different
-Albert Szent-Gyorgyi

When All Else Fails,

You Must Persevere

e can muster all the creativeness in the world, but it will not
amount to much if another quality is lacking - and that quality
is Perseverance...
You can develop the best creative ideas and have the best vivid
imagination in response to the most critical problems, but they will
be of little use and of no value until action is taken, and
perseverance is gained.
James Dyson found this out when one day the creative idea of the
Dual Cyclone cleaner came to him
In 1979 he discovered whilst vacuuming his home that the new
bag in his Junior Hoover clogged with the first dust that went in, so
even the most powerful bag cleaner had very little suction. Having
spent four years at the Royal College of Art, where he studied
furniture and interior design, James was convinced that he could
come up with something better.
Mr. Dysons only asset was 10,000 worth of shares in the
Ballbarrow market.
This was hardly enough funding with which to invest in let alone
launch a new product - but shares which he duly disposed of in
order to support himself during his first year developing a new
vacuum cleaner... he even sold off his familys vegetable garden in
order to raise some additional funds.
And his perseverance paid off. Five years and 5,127 prototypes
later he had come up with his revolutionary cyclonic vacuum
cleaner the Dyson
In just 5 years the Dyson cleaner had gone on to dominate the
lucrative hover bag replacement market, worth 100 million in the
UK alone.
Dyson is today the undisputed brand leader in the UK floor care
market, outselling its nearest competitor by an impressive ratio of

10 to 1. All of which has made James Dyson one of Britains

wealthiest men
Thomas Edison found this out also. Edison is said to have tried
over 6000 different materials and made some 30,000 experimental
attempts, in a search for the conductive filament that was the heart
of his electric light bulb.
For close to 10 years Edison kept persevering with his creative
desire of: powering a light bulb, by using electricity!
Even though each material failed, Edison refused to give up and
to a discouraged assistant he cheerfully said Try everything
even Lim-burger cheese
Harlan Sanders the founder of Col. Sanders Kentucky Fried
Chicken, was also a master in perseverance one day he set out
across America with a creative dream and that dream was: To
supply restaurants with his secret chicken recipe
Sanders arrived at the first restaurant and asked them if they
would like to sell his chicken - and the answer was NO. So off he
went, onto the next restaurant, and the owner of this restaurant
also said NO...
In fact, do you know how many times Sanders was refused before
someone actually said; YES - we will sell your chicken for you
1009 Times!!!
Yes Harlan Sanders received 1009 NOs before someone
actually said YES. Did he get discouraged in any way, by all the
refusals?
You can bet he did not. This is because he had a creative dream,
a vision, a great idea and he simply stuck to it with intention until
he had persevered. And we must simply learn to do the same.

What Is Creative Thinking?

Creative thinking is not a talent; it is a skill that can be learnt. It
empowers people by adding strength to their natural abilities which
improves teamwork, productivity and where appropriate profits
- Edward de Bono

eople seem to have the misconception that only a select few

are able to unleash a steady flow of creative genius.

This is not true at all. The fact is creativity is very much like a
muscle that needs to be exercised in order to perform for you and
give out great results.
If you don't practice harnessing creative thinking, this skill will very
much stay non-existent. But keep working on it... and you will
master this skill in no time at all.
Most of us possess a much grater creative ability than we have
ever thought possible...
So How Do You Unleash Your Creative Thinking?
Well, the first thing to do is to become a human sponge. What
we're saying is that you should take in and soak up as much
knowledge and learning as you can find.
Read everything available - good and bad, and always keep your
mind open to the infinite possibilities of the universe.
The essence and substance of the general idea is the gathering up
and storing away of as many facts as possible associated with the
work in which you are engaged the ideas of the things likely to
be needed at some time in your work.
This is so you will have them in easy minds reach... at such times
in which you have need for them.
The person who surrounds themselves with these essential facts,
and who will classify and store them away for future use, is sure to
reap their reward of success, appreciation and achievement in any
particular line of work.

The more you know, the more you'll want to know, and the more
your power of wonder and creation will be exercised. Prepare to be
amazed as its often the little facts which can add the most power
and success into your life.
Focus on a creative activity everyday. Yes, it's an effort. Even
doodling is a creative activity. Don't let anything hinder you.
For people who are just starting out to unleash a little bit of
creative thinking in their lives - it is helpful and encouraging to
have concrete evidence, that, "hey, what I'm doing is getting
somewhere."
So why not try any one, or even all of the following activitys to
really get your creative thinking going?
You could practice drawing for a couple of minutes each day.
You could even bring out your old camera and start snapping
photos like crazy.
How about getting a journal, and making a point to write in it
every day.
Another cool idea is to write by describing something with
your five senses. Try to avoid vague adjectives like
"marvelous," "super," and "delicious."
Before you know it, you'll have built yourself a tiny portfolio, and
you'll be amazed at the growth you've undertaken after amassing
all those works of art. Who knows, you might actually take to liking
those things you do everyday!
Pretty soon those things will become a part of you and you'll be
addicted to these creative exercises.
Think Out Of The BOX - Or Maybe Not
Sometimes, constraints are actually a good thing. Limitations
discipline you to work within your means. It enables you to be
more resourceful...
Creative freedom is great, but limitations enforce discipline.

Try something different and new every day and let your
experiences broaden your perspective.
Explore a new district in your neighborhood... drive to work by a
different route... spend an afternoon in a museum to which you've
never been before... if you like movies, go to see a play or hear a
musical.
If you are the indoor type, go outdoors; if you are an outdoor type,
try staying home and reading... If you are habitually untidy, tidy up
and groom yourself as if for an evening out with friends... And best
of all open up to the people around you.
As you thrust yourself out of your normal comfort zone more and
more each day, your sense of adventure grows and so does your
passion and zest for life.
Think about it... When was the last time you did something for the
first time?
If it's been a while, I tell you, you've been missing out on a whole
lot of experiences which could well add to your growth,
emotionally, mentally, physically, and even spiritually.
Why don't you try something new and exciting today? Not only will
you experience and learn from it, but you will also have plenty of
stories to share, enabling you to practice your storytelling skills and
making you the life and soul of the party...
Embrace Being Different...
Every creative thought was once deemed insanity by other
"normal" people at one time or another. Luckily, that didn't stop the
creative geniuses from standing by them.
The thing is thinking normal often confines people to think... well,
normally. Within limits that is.
Creative thinking - is essentially breaking through the barriers of
your normal way of thinking... its also a wonderful tool for getting
things done, getting the things you want, and solving problems...

It's also important that you develop and learn to control this
creative power...

7 Ways To Realise Your Creative Problem Solving

How many times have you caught yourself saying that there could
be no other solution to a problem and that the problem leads to a
dead end?
How many times have you felt stumped knowing that the problem
lying before you is one you cannot solve...
No leads... No options... No solutions?
Did it feel like you had exhausted all possible options and yet are
still before the mountain - large, unconquerable, and immovable?
When encountering such enormous problems, you may feel like
you're hammering against a steel mountain. The pressure of
having to solve such a problem may also be overwhelming.
But relax... There is still hope yet!
With some simple creative problem-solving techniques, you will be
able to look at your problem in a different light. And that light might
just be the end of the tunnel that leads to possible solutions for
you.
First of all, in the light of creative problem-solving, you must be
open-minded to the fact that there may be more than just one
solution to the problem. And, you must be open to the fact that
there may be solutions to problems you thought were unsolvable.
Now, with this optimistic mindset in place, we can try to be a little
bit more creative in solving our problems.
1.
Maybe the reason we cannot solve our problems is that we
have not really taken a hard look at what the problem actually is.
Trying to understand the real problem and having a concrete
understanding of its workings is an important part of solving the
problem...

If you know how it works, what the problem is, then you have a
much better foundation and starting point towards solving the
problem.
Simply try to identify the problems at hand and what their
relationships with one another are. Take note of the things you
stand to gain and stand to lose from the current problem.
Now you have a simple statement of what the problem really is...
2. Try to take note of all of the assumptions and beliefs you have
about the particular problem. Sometimes it is these assumptions
that obstruct our view of possible solutions. You have to identify
which assumptions and beliefs are valid... and also which
assumptions and beliefs are not valid, and need to be addressed.
3. You can try to solve the problem by parts. Solve it going from
a general view towards the more detailed parts of the problem.
This is called the top-down approach. Write down the question,
and then come up with a one-sentence solution to that from them.
The solution should be a general statement of what will solve the
problem.
From here you can develop the solution further, and increase its
complexity little by little.
4. Although it helps to have critical thinking aboard as you solve
a problem, you must also keep a creative thinking voice at the
back of your head. When someone comes up with a prospective
solution, try to think how you could make that solution work.
Try to be creative and also at the same time, look for any
weaknesses in the chain of your solution.
5.
It pays to remember that there may be more than just one
solution being developed at any one time. If you can - try and keep
track of all the solutions and also their developments.
Also keep in mind; there may be more than just one solution to
solving the problem at hand.
6. Remember the old saying, "Two heads are better than one."
Well this saying is as true as it sounds. Always be open to new

ideas. You can only benefit from listening to all the ideas each
person has to offer. This is especially true when the person you're
talking to has had experience solving problems similar to yours.
You don't have to be a solo hero and solve every problem on your
own. If you can organize collective thought on the subject, it will be
much better and far more productive for you in the long run!
7.
Be patient. As long as you persevere, there is always a
chance that a solution to the problem will present itself. No one
was ever able to create an invention or great solution the first time
around.
Creative thinking exercises can also help you in your quest to be
a more creative problems solver.
Here is an example...
Take a piece of paper and write any word that comes to mind at
the center. Now look at that word then write the first two words that
come to your mind. This can go on until you have build up a tree of
related words. This helps you build a visual image in your mind,
and fortify your creative processes.
So, next time you have a problem you think you cannot solve, think
again. The solution might be just around the corner or even staring
you right in the face.
All it takes is just a little creative thinking, some planning, and then
Action towards solving it.
We would like to end by giving you the Creation Master Formula
which has been laid down by Robert Collier, in his great work
entitled: The Secret of the Ages...
You may create and have anything you want, provided that you

Know exactly what you want

Want it hard enough
Confidently expect to obtain it
Persistently determine to obtain it; and
Are willing to pay the price of its attainment

You are the creator of your own world of experience. Consciously

or unconsciously, you are molding your world of experience and
determining your own destiny. In ignorance or in wisdom, for good
or for evil, you are creating, building, constructing the scenery of
the world in which you live, and move, and have your being. For
weal or for woe, you are thus building. For better or for worse you
are thus constructing.
Your personal world of experience is largely what you, yourself,
have made it. Your Ideals ever tend to become Real. You are
always realizing your Ideals. What you have been doing
unconsciously, you may now proceed to do consciously. By
creating and controlling your Ideals, you create and control your
world of experience. You may become an active master of
Creation, instead of a passive slave
