LIFETIMES

Psalm 139:13

Winter 2014

Will Jesus be seen in 2015?

We celebrate His Incarnation
Our Savior has come ...to give knowledge of salvation to his
People in the forgiveness of their sins, because of the tender
mercy of our God, whereby the sunrise shall visit us from on
high to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the
shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace. Luke
1:77-79

We await His return

And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to
Give every man according as his work shall be. I am Alpha
And Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.
Blessed are they that do his commandments that they may
Have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the
Gates into the city. (Revelation 22:12-14)

We work while it is day

Planting seeds and building bridges is an ongoing process at a
crisis pregnancy center, but, there may be a time that the Lord
wants us to reap the harvest (John 4:35-37) and cross those
bridges.

FROM THE DIRECTORS DESK

See something say something

In the FBI Citizens Academy we learned that If you see something, say something. That refers to terrorism.
Well, there is a terror thats in this world and thats Satan. He makes us fear, he makes us doubt, he lulls us to sleep. I
believe its important for us to say something.
If weve seen the grace of God, we need to say something.
If weve seen the hand of God , we need to say something.
If we ourselves have been saved from the penalty of sin, we need to say something to someone else.
If in fact, we can share the gospel and not use words, where do we find that in Scripture?
Were commanded in Scripture from the Book of Romans 10:13-15: Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be
saved. How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they
have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are
sent?
If we are ambassadors for Him, we are sent with a message and that message is in His Word:
a) Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and Thou shall be saved Acts 16:31
b) Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved Romans 10:13
c) The Lord .. is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance. 2 Peter 3:9
d) And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be
saved. Acts 4:12
Should we use words? Certainly! Should we speak? Absolutely! When we bind our tongue, when we hold our mouths,
when we hold back the gospel, we are in fact, preaching another gospel (Galatians 1:8), This is the gospel of recognition.
people will recognize Christ in us and attribute that to the Savior and somehow thus will believe; nowhere do we find that
thinking in Scripture.
Rev. Dean Gavaris

Wanting to get their lives right before the Lord

Julie thought she was pregnant. She was not. She is bi-polar but not on her meds. She is finishing high school and
wishes to be a nurse. She accepted the Lord at one point in her life. We encouraged her to read her Bible and attend
church.
Sharon stated that she wants to go back to church because she feels God has a purpose for her life. She wants to
have a baby but wants to first get her life together.
Wanda is 42 and from Africa. She has two boys, ages 5 and 8. She is a believer and would like to get her spiritual
life in order. We encouraged her in her Christian walk.
Christine is a 20 year old girl who is taking care of her sick mother. She has dropped out of school and has a 30
year old boyfriend who is not working. She is a believer and carrying her baby to term. She re-dedicated her life to
the Lord and plans to be chaste until marriage.

(left) A new mom proudly shows off her baby (center) Johanna recently trusted Christ after a follow-up
visit to Gateway in 2014.Shes is married but had considered abortion. (right) Gateway helps the whole family
Sally age 36 is Catholic from Africa. Her boyfriend is a Muslim from Africa. They were seeking an abortion. He
stated that Islam is against abortion, but God forgives. We explained the consequences of sin as well as forgiveness.
We reminded him that sin, then asking for forgiveness should not be pre-planned. Both chose to keep the baby.
Sally is due in late May, 2015.
Tariq is 20. He came to Gateway with his 19 year old girlfriend. Tariq doesnt believe in abortion. He also had no
response to the question: If you were to die today and appear before God, why should He let you into heaven? We
shared the gospel message with him and he prayed to trust Christ as Savior and Lord.
Tabitha came to Gateway Irvington in June. She was referred by a supporting church. At her initial visit, she trusted
Christ as Savior and Lord. Her boyfriend wanted her to abort. She refused. She stated her past abortions were
killing her on the inside. We gave Tabitha information on post abortion healing. We have been following up on her
since June. She is due January 15th.
Adeline, age 26, is married and graduating college in the Bronx. She was afraid .Adeline and her husband were
unsure what to do about this pregnancy. She had an abortion in May. Her husband claims to be a follower of Christ,
yet doesnt attend church. She is Muslim. After counseling, she decided to carry to term. We encouraged her to have
her husband call us.
