DECORATIVE LAMINATED
SHEET (SUNMICA) [EIRI-1644]

Decorative laminates are laminated products

primarily used as furniture surface materials
or wall paneling. It can be manufactured as
either high or low-pressure laminate, with the
two processes not much different from each
other except for the pressure applied in the
pressing process. It is said that the first
decorative High Pressure Laminate was
produced by Marc-Anton Andri, who is the sixth
generation of Johann Ludwig Andri in 1959.
According to McGraw-Hill Dictionary of
Architecture & Construction, high-pressure
laminates consists of laminates "molded and
cured at pressures not lower than 1000 lb per
sq. in. (70 kg per sq. cm) and more commonly
in the range of 1,200 to 2,000 lb per sq. in. (84
to 140 kg per sq. cm). The material covered by
this report may be used as well as panels or
as vener for wood or other surfaces. The
laminated sheets require no additional
decorative finish. The material is intended for
interior use. The specification applies to sheets
in which the only filter is paper and does not
cover sheets with a core of any other material
covered by this report is not intended for load
bearing applications.

Sulphamic acid IUPAC recommendation amido

sulphonic acid has the formula NH2 SO2H. It
is a white crystalline solid non-volatile Nonhygroscopic D-2.1 m.p. 205oC (decomposes)
soluble in water slightly soluble in organic
solvent odorless aqueous solution are highly
ionized giving pH values lower than solution
of formic phosphoric and oxalic acids. All the
common salts (including calcium barium and
lead) are extremely soluble in water
combustible. In expectation of good sales and
future demand the scope of the product is
bright. At present there are few manufacture
in organized sector Sulphamic Acid is mainly
used as descalant and the pure grade is used
in electroplating. Inspire of that sulphamic acid
is also used for cleaning M/C. and instruments
and in the manufacture of dyes paper & pulp
industries. Sulfamic acid, also known as
amidosulfonic acid, amidosulfuric acid,
aminosulfonic acid, and sulfamidic acid, is a
molecular compound with the formula
H3NSO3. This colorless, water-soluble
compound finds many applications. Sulfamic
acid melts at 205 0C before decomposing at
higher temperatures to H2O, SO3, SO2 and
N2. Sulfamic acid (H3NSO3) may be

considered an intermediate compound

between sulfuric acid (H2SO4), and sulfamide
(H4N2SO2), effectively-though-replacing anOH group with an -NH2 group at each step.
This pattern can extend no further in either
direction without breaking down the -SO2
group. Sulfamates are derivatives of sulfamic
acid.

other institution, College school and Houses.
These are generally sold in printed form also.
In handling books and records, proper care is
required. In the educational institution Govt
office, bank and other organization where
books and records are used in large number,
usually people prefer to preserve them in plastic
folder of different forms and sizes. These plastic
folder not only protect the books and other
records from dust and rain but also imparts neat
appearance. Among the gift items the file
covers, diary covers, diary, etc. are being
manufactured in our country, but those hardely
create any essential appeal. Manufacturing
technique of the existing variety of file covers,
diary covers is not very sophisticated to make
the products attractive and durable. In
developed countries file covers, diary covers
with requisite look make of pvc foils are being
manufactured by high frequency welding

GLUTEN FREE BEER

[EIRI-1641]

Gluten Free Beer tastes different from regular

wheat beer. If you are coeliac/celiac or gluten
intolerant and used to enjoy beer, then you may
still want to continue drinking some form of beer
that doesnt spring from barley, wheat, rye,
spelt, oats, kamut and triticale. Every wonder
what replaces barley and these other grains
that are used in regular beer and what
properties these other ingredients have. As beer
is often made from wheat and barley and these
two grains contain gluten, gluten free beer
manufacturers need to use substituted grains.
The first thing a gluten free beer brewer needs
to consider is whether they intend on making a
pale or dark lager. The answer to this is that

roasting grains for the longest time tends to

produce the darkest beers.

characterised as high boiling, colourless,
odourless, stable oily liquids which when mixed
intimately with organic polymers, imperts
softness and flexibility to the finished products.
Small amount of Di-methyl phthalates is used
in the insect repellent formulation IMP is used
for the manufacture of nitrocellulose lacquers
but also as explosives. As general plasticizers
these phthalates are competing with the

AYURVEDIC MEDICINES
[EIRI-1638]

Garlic powder as such, is more handy for

culinary as well as medicinally purposes. Garlic
can be economically converted into powder,
using the technique developed by the central
food technological, Mysore. For preparing
garlic powder, hot-air drying by the through
flow method is preferred, as it is more
economical and time-saving. According to the
historical researches of Haffman, ginger was
certainly known to and highly esteemed by the
ancient greeks and Romans, who obtained the
material from the Arabinan Traders, viz. the red
sea. It was introduced to Germany and France
in 9th century and in England in the 10th
century. Since the rhizome can be easily
transported, in lining state to considrable
distance, the plant has been introduced to
many tropical and sub tropocal countries of the
world.

Ayurvedic system of medicine is as old as the

Vedic age. Now-a-days people give preference
to the Ayurvedic medicines as the allopathic
medicines are costlier and have side effects.
Ayurvedic medicines are based on plants,
animals extract and minerals both in single
ingredient drugs and compound formulations,
however, Ayurveda does not rule out any
substances from being used as a potential
source of medicine. Ayurvedic compound
formulations are mainly divided into two groups
viz. (1) Kasthausadhi (predominantly plant
drugs) and (2). Rasausadhi (predominantly
metals and minerals). There are several
categories of Kasthausadhi formulations such
as Asavaristra, Avleha, Grafa Churena, Taila
etc. and of Rasausadhis such as Bhasma, Pisti,
Lauha, Kapibadkva, Rasayana etc. The
Ayurvedic drugs are derived from vegetable
sources from the various parts of the plant like
root, leaf, flower, fruit extrude or plant as a

SODIUM HYDROSULFITE
THROUGH FORMALDEHYDE
ROUTE [EIRI-1634]
Sodium hydrosulfite is an important chemical
used in the textile industry and sugar industry.
It is also used in rubber industry as a oxygen
remover. The another names of sodium
hydrosulfite are sodium hydrosulfite and sodium
dithionite and Sodium Sulfoxylate. It has the
chemical formula Na2 S2 O4 or Na2 S2 O4
2H2O. It is available in three forms: i.e. Lemon
coloured powder as flakes and also in liquid
form. The liquid form of sodium hydrosulfite is
known as Reductione. It is combustible
material which decomposes exothermically in
the presence of heat, moisture or air. Sulfur
dioxide is given of voilenthy when the dry salt
is heated above 190oC. Aqueous solution of
dithionite are stable for several days at room
temperatures if the PH is adjusted to 8-9 and if
air is excluded. Because of decomposition on

FROZEN FRENCH FRIES

[EIRI-1633]
Frozen French Fries is an important snacks food
having good demand and is being appreciated
by masses. Freezing food preserves it from the
time it is prepared to the time it is eaten.
Freezing food slows down decomposition by
turning residual moisture into ice, inhibiting the
growth of most bacterial species. In the food
commodity industry, there are two processes:
mechanical and cryogenic (or flash freezing).
The freezing kinetics is important to preserve
the food quality and texture. Quicker freezing
generates smaller ice crystals and maintains
cellular structure. Cryogenic freezing is the
quickest freezing technology available due to
the ultra low liquid nitrogen temperature (1960C). Frozen products do not require any
added preservatives because microorganisms
do not grow when the temperature of the food
is below -9.50C.

PASTA PRODUCTION PLANT

(SHORT PASTA) [EIRI-1632]

Pasta is a food product made by extruding and

drying unleavened dough of wheat flour and
that forms the basis of much Italian cuisine, as
well as Chinese, Japanese, Korean and

Southeast. Asian cuisines, Macaroni is a dried

food product made from semolina and shaped
in the form of slender tubes. It is popularly
believed that Marco Polo, the 13th Century
Italian explorer, introduced pasta to Europe from
China. Italian pastas, such as spaghetti and
macaroni, are traditionally made from semolina
flour derived from durum (extra - hard) wheat.
Pasta may be added to soups; boiled and
served with a sauce; served cold with other
ingredients in a salad; stuffed with meat, cheese
or vegetables and then boiled and baked. There
are dozens of varieties of Italian pasta, and they
are usually named for their sizes and shapes.
Pasta is a highly nutritious food. A 56 - gram (2

RE-BAR AND STEEL SECTIONS

[EIRI-1631]

Reinforcing steel bars are used to help concrete

withstand tension forces. Concrete by nature is
sufficiently strong to compression forces,
although tension forces can crack concrete.
Deformed re-bars on reinforcing steel was
made a standard requirement since 1968,
however, plain re-bars are also used in
situations where the reinforcing steel is
expected to slide as usually installed in highway
pavement and in segmental bridges. The
deformed patter on a rebar will help the
concrete to adhere to the reinforcing steel
surface.

COLD ROLLING MILL
[EIRI-1629]
Reinforcing steel bars are used to help concrete
withstand tension forces. Concrete by nature
is sufficiently strong to compression forces,
although tension forces can crack concrete.
Deformed re-bars on reinforcing steel was
made a standard requirement since 1968,
however, plain re-bars are also used in
situations where the reinforcing steel is
expected to slide as usually installed in highway
pavement and in segmental bridges. The
deformed patter on a rebar will help the
concrete to adhere to the reinforcing steel
surface. The pattern on a deformed bar is not
specified, however, the spacing, and the height
of the bumps is regulated.

CEMENT PLANT [EIRI-1628]

However the advent of the Cement Plant with

vertical shaft kiln, which was introduced in India
by an enthusiastic protagonist from Australia,
has provided a diversion. In some quarters
the Mini Cement plant has a keen following,
since it opens up possibilites of exploiting small
deposits of limestone in difficult tarrain and
thereby contributes to the Socialist pattern
on the other hand. There is still some doubt as
to the quality of clinker produced in these plants.
The six units so far setup have yet to establish
their commercial viability. Nevertheless the
Cement Research Institute of India which
possesses the known-how for manufacturing
these plants, is hopeful of setting up some 200
such plants around the country.

COTTON (RUI) FROM WASTE
COTTON CLOTH (EIRI-1621)
The original of the cotton textile industry, the
largest single industry in the country. In India,
cotton has had a pride of place among cash
crops from the earliest times. At present, the
area under cotton crop is over 8 million
hectares. Cotton can be recycled from preconsumer (post-industrial) and post-consumer
cotton waste. Pre-consumer waste comes from
any excess material produced during the
production of yarn, fabrics and textile products,
e.g. selvage from weaving and fabric from
factory cutting rooms. Post-consumer waste
comes from discarded textile products, e.g.
used apparel and home textiles. During the
recycling process, the cotton waste is first
sorted by type and color and then processed
through stripping machines that first breaks the
yarns and fabric into smaller pieces before
pulling them apart into fiber. The mix is carded
several times in order to clean and mix the
fibers before they are spun into new yarns.
The resulting staple fiber is of shorter length
compared to the original fiber length, meaning
it is more difficult to spin. Recycled cotton is
therefore often blended with virgin cotton fibers
to improve yarn strengths. Commonly, not more
than 30% recycled cotton content is used in
the finished yarn or fabric.

the two principal sources of the worlds supply
of sugar. sugar cane is grown in tropical and
sub-topical countries, while beet root is sugar
from sugar cane originated in India, and from
here it spread eastwards to Malaya and China
and westwards to Persia and beyond. The
process of obtaining sugar from beet was
developed in France towards the end of the
18th century, and soon the beet become an
important raw material for sugar production in
many European Countries. The earliest
recorded evidence of concentrated juice called
gur is found in pratimokasha, a code of
behaviour of Budhists written in 6th century
B.C. and in Mahadhashya of Patanjali of 350
B.c. The first traceable reference about the
sugar Industry in India by an easterner in from
Megasthenes. In kuang-kumfang-Pu, it is
stated that the Chinese Emperor Tai-Toung
(A.D.627-650) sent a mission to Magadh
(Patna) to learn the technique of sugar
manufacture. The Indian sugar was exported
as early as in 15th century. The east India

A catheter is a flexible tube made of latex,

body creating a channel for the passage of fluid
or the entry of a medical device. For many
years, the epidermal catheters used were plain
tubes made of available industrial compounds,
and design was largely based on current need.
Nowadays, there are many specialized
catheter designs. For example, specific
catheter designs allow catheters to be used in
pulmonary, cardiac (vascular), neonatal,
central nervous system, and epidural tissues.
Catheters are designed to perform tissue
ablation (tissue removal) and even serve as
conduits for thermal, optics, and various
medical devices. The three major types of
catheters are coronary, renal, and infusion.
Coronary catheters are used for angiography

PLASTIC WATER STORAGE
TANKS [EIRI-1487]
The term Plastics usually refers to a large and
varied group of synthetic materials which are
solid in finished form but at some stage in their
processing are fluid enough to be shaped by
application of heat and pressure. The use of
plastics in building has grown rapidly in the last
few years. Plastics were first used for decorative
and non structural purposes but because of
increased knowledge of the long term
properties of plastics particularly resistance to
creep and environmental effects some plastics
are now available that maintain long term
structural integrity, such as piping, doors and
windows, water tanks that can contain moderate
pressures for a long period of time. During the
last decade Plastic (conversion) Industry has
progressed at a fast rate. New fields of
application of plastics are continually being
developed. Tile sometime ago drums, barrels
were conventionally manufactured out of M.S.
Sheets. Today we can get the drum and barrel
made out of Plastics. Blow moulding has been
the most widely used method of the

CRUDE (CPC) [EIRI-1480]

Phthalocyanine pigments are derived from the

Phthalocyanine structure, a tetraaza
tetrabenzoporphine. Although this basic
molecule can chelate with a large varity of
metals under various co-ordination conditions,
today only the copper (II) complexes are of
practical importance as pigments. Excellent
general chemical and physical properties;
combined with good economy, make them the
largest fraction of organic pigments in the
market today. Copper Phthalocyanine (CPC)
pigments, by virtue of their exceptionally brilliant
shade, high tinctorial strength, low cost and
outstanding fastness properties, have been

ruling the colorant industry . They are about to

complete 70 years of meritorious service as
an unchallenged leader of various types of blue
and green pigments. Most of these pigments
had poor chemical resistance, unsatisfactory
acid/or alkali resistance, insufficient light
fastness & poor sublimation fastness.

LATEX GLOVES, CONDOMS &

CATHETER [EIRI-1479]

The gloves are made from latex by dipping

method. In the same plant of hand gloves, other
products like finger stalls, balloons, etc. can also
be manufactured. Deposition of rubber by
dipping an article in rubber solution in order to
obtain thin walled articles in and old process,
toy balloons, gloves for surgical and household
use were made by dipping forms in milled
rubber solution as cements. A single dip was
sufficient for producing very thin articles, but in
case of heavy ones the dipping and drying
operations had to be repeated several times.

Pressure Cookers are conventionally made of

Aluminium Alloys sheet or Circles. In Recent
years stainless steel has penetrated into this
field. As stainless steel is not thermally so
efficient as Aluminium, the latest trends towards
manufacture of Pressure Cookers with Copper
clad bottom of pressure cookers. In every family
utensils of different metals are used made of
steel, Brass, Aluminium, Copper etc. More over
utensils of ever y metals has a definite
significance of its own but aluminium utensils
are especially used by lower class people
Because It is light, quite reasonable and with
high heat bearing capacity. Because of these
physical qualities and durability, Aluminium
utensils have high demand and its demand is
only increasing with each passing day with the
increase in population, Although the major
demand for aluminium utensils is in rural area,
yet its popularity is also increasing in urban

having no historical background & becomes in
market and in social & cultural synonym as the
society became more advanced. Initially in longlong ago, people did not heard the name of Dal
moth, chur or Bhujia like food products. But now
a days it is well known not in India but world
wide. These are mainly consumed during
breakfast period & are very much during social
& cultural periods. These are used as tasty &
flavored food as well as in medicinal way,
however, a little it may be, according to

one in which the United States has had a limited

production, Manganese is an absolute
necessity in the steel industry, as this industry
uses about 14 pounds of manganese in every
ton of steel produced. Annual statistics show
that over 90 percent of the annual amount of
manganese consumed in the United States
goes into the production of steel. From this it
can therefore be seen that the stability and
accessibility of a steady supply of manganese
ore is a controlling factor in the maintenance
of the steel industry. The remaining 10 percent
of the manganese consumed yearly in the
United States is used in the manufacture of dry
batteries, chemicals, glass, tile, and brick. One
of the outstanding characteristics of the
utilization of manganese in steel making is that
in the process of being used, most of the metal
is dissipated into the slag in a form not readily
susceptible to subsequent recovery as a
secondary metal. In fact, the amounts that are
returned to use in this way are so small as to
be practically negligible, and the full
requirements for each year must be net from
new mine production.

SODA ASH PLANT

(FROM SOLUTION BRINE)

Sodium carbonate is a common inorganic

industrial chemical, also known as soda ash
(Na2CO3). It is widely used in the manufacture
of glass, chemicals, such as sodium silicates
and sodium phosphates, the pulp and paper
industries, the manufacture of detergents and
for the treatment of water. Soda ash
manufacture by Solvay technology is a very
complex process. The natural sodium chloride
solution (brine) is extracted and purified
(removal of solid impurities by filtration and
removal of calcium and magnesium ions by
precipitation). The discovery of the chemistry
of the ammonia-soda process can be traced
back to the early 1800s. A few British and
French plants operated in 1840-1860, but
without success. The ammonia-soda process
is usually called the Solvay process because in 1865
Ernest Solvay started the first really successful plant
at couillet in Belgium. In 1874, the first successful
ammonia-soda plant was erected in England. The
ammonia-soda process is the dominant technology
used throughout the world, hence this process is
selected for production of soda ash.
