ActiveX applications on CMU

Introduction
This document will give a brief explanation on how to configure the ActiveX calls on
CMU units for external diagnostic programs.

All example pictures were taken from a Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP
Professional with Thinstuff Terminal Server configuration.

Always start the Line PC with "LinePCOEM" as the "User name" and leave "Password"
blank.

On the Sessions tab, we define how long the user can be logged on. You should
configure a timeout and disconnect the user, to close the session. For an example,
suppose someone pushes the Eplan button on CMU for fault diagnosis and forgets to
close the session after the problem is sorted. If we dont have a timeout, the session will
remain open indefinitely, which is not desired.

Remote Desktop Configuration

ActiveX Setup
Preparing each CMU
For the communications between CMU and Line Pc to function correctly it is required
to set up an ActiveX control in both the CMU and the Line PC.
All files used in the following explanation should be taken from the ZIP file with the
name : ProgramLauncher V1.3.0.9.zip
Once installed, the activeX control will use ~21 KB of Storage Card space.
To install the ActiveX control, follow the instructions below.
(1) Copy the entire content from "programlauncher" folder to the root of an empty
compact flash card.
(2) Rename the Install.bat file to Batch.bat.
(3) Put the compact flash card to the terminal.
(4) The autorun.exe will call the install batch file to install the necessary files, and
register the activex control.
For more specific info on how to install / uninstall ActiveX on CMU and Line-PC,
please refer to the ReadMe.txt file of the
ME Program Launcher ActiveX control for RSView Machine Edition
Version 1.3.0.9

August 5, 2004.

Preparing RSView
This chapter refers to the use of VV-CE 3.20 with RSView Studio 3.20 (or higher, but
always save project in RSView version 3.20).

Before starting Terminal Services with a CMU out of the online screen, it is necessary
to install the activeX control in RSView. Please follow the instructions below.
1. Extract all of the files from the Win32 directory to a location on your hard
drive (ex. "C:\ActiveX")
2. Once the files have been extracted, run RSView Studio ME and open a project.
3. Open a new display for editing, and add an activeX object to the display.
4. From the activeX dialog box, click the Register button and navigate to the folder
where you extracted the files (ex. "C:\ActiveX").

5. Select the file "ME_ProgLaunch.ocx" and click OK. The activeX control is now
registered and installed.
6. Once this has been done and the following data is entered, you should copy and
paste into each other graphic screen.

Preparing the Line PC

The FordServices folder located on the Line PC (C:\FordServices), contains some
programs which interact with other applications to provide remote diagnosis capability
and need to be installed and configured as per the following descriptions. Anyhow,
some nicknames may not be meaningful for you e.g. WinQLD was previously
designed for Pilz Safety PLC diagnosis and meanwhile also in some applications
available for "StartAny" which is a free configurable platform. There is also the
program Weld for welding controller's diagnosis, IBS for INTERBUS diagnosis, and
EplanPDF for Eplan fault search. All those applications may be different in
functionality and thus vary (final agreement with Group Staff Department).

Below are the contents of defined folders

NOTE:
The data within the separate .INI files is explained within the following sections.

Common Configuration for each Program

The Remote Desktop configuration should be done on the one CMU (client) and
replicated to the other CMU units. Directory structures may differ from plant to plant
and also some of the programs e.g. due to updated releases from 3rd party companies
(I.e. Adobe etc.).

1. Open the Remote Desktop Connection program and select Options >>.

2. Fill in as shown in the example.

TCP/IP Address of the Line PC

User should be 'CMU' as created on
the Line PC
Password is always left blank
Domain name of the LinePC is off-the-shelf

After that, select the General tab, choose Save As option and save the file. E.g. it
should be saved as ACROBAT.rdp in the location \Storage Card\Bin of the CMU
unit.
