What Are the Symptoms of Diabetes?

Particularly for those with undiagnosed and untreated
diabetes, there are a few symptoms of diabetes that can be
noted. These are due to the build up of glucose in the blood.
A particularly common symptom of diabetes is using or
needing the toilet more than you usually would do, a symptom
which can be particularly notable during the night. This
happens because the body tries to remove out the excess
glucose in the blood stream by passing urine. Other common
symptoms include feeling thirsty, feeling tired, and a decrease
in the bulk of your muscles or in your overall weight.
Other symptoms can be noted by some people but not by
others. These include a blurring in your vision, which is
caused by a drying in the lens of your eye. You may also
experience more cramps than you normally would do, or
constipation.
Finally, you may find that the area around your genital organ
becomes itchy, and that you may develop thrush regularly.
These are less common symptoms than those listed above,
but can similarly be valuable signs that you may have
diabetes.

If you have diabetes, there is a risk that large amounts of

glucose can build up in your blood stream as it is not being
used or broken down effectively by the bodys insulin. This is
known as a hyperglycaemia. This can cause various
symptoms, often common to the symptoms of diabetes listed
above but appearing more strongly and quickly.
These include feeling particularly thirsty, a blurring of the
vision, feeling tired and sleepy, feeling the need to pass urine
often and a dry mouth. It is important that if you experience
these symptoms you seek treatment or medical assistance. A
hyperglycaemia is usually straightforward to treat, but if left
untreated can prove to be more serious and lead to diabetic
ketoacidosis. This is when the body begins to break down the
fats in the body as there is no glucose to use, causing a build
up of acid in the blood stream which can cause
unconsciousness and, if very serious, even death.
In contrast to a hyperglycaemia, a hypoglycaemia, or "hypo"
for short, is when the body is experiencing a shortness of
glucose in the bloodstream, caused if the insulin in your body
removes too much insulin.
The symptoms of a hypo include feeling weak, hungry and
nauseas, sweating, a tingling in your lips, and feeling irritable
in yourself. If left untreated, a hypo can lead to slurred speech
and unconsciousness, and medical assistance should be
requested. However, a hypo in the short term can be treated
simply and quickly by eating some sugary food.

How Much Is a Moderate Intake of Caffeine?

A moderate intake of caffeine is probably around
300 mg per day. This is roughly 3 to 4 cups of
ground roasted coffee or 5 cups of instant.
For pregnant women, this level would be
considered excessive, and they are advised to keep
their consumption below 200 mg a day.
Coffee is not the only source of caffeine in the diet.
300 mg is also the amount of caffeine in 5 or 6
servings of tea and some colas, and the average
chocolate candy bar has about 35 mg.
Some painkillers also contain caffeine, because it
can make them 40% more effective in
treating headaches. The range here also varies; for
instance, from 16 mg per capsule (Dristran) to 200
mg (Vivarin), among popular over-the-counter
painkillers in the US.
In the American diet, coffee accounts for about

75% of the adult intake of caffeine.

Caffeine is probably the most investigated
substance in coffee, but there are many others,
which is probably why coffee seems to have good
sides and bad sides, and the overall effect may
depend on how much they cancel each other out.
After being absorbed in the stomach and small
intestine, caffeine travels to the rest of the body
and the brain. The amount in the bloodstream
peaks about 30 to 45 minutes after ingestion,
petering out some 10 hours later, as it is
metabolized in the liver.
As yet no study has said that coffee does more
good than harm and therefore drinking it should
be recommended. But perhaps that is just a
matter of time, and the meantime, those who
thought they should give it up for the good of their
health, unless their doctor advises them
differently, can continue to enjoy it, and focus on
other ways to improve health.

What Is Diabetes?
By Christopher Jacoby | Diabetes | Unrated

Diabetes is a common condition caused by your body being unable to break down glucose and use it
effectively. Glucose comes from broken down carbohydrates, particularly found in foods such as bread,
rice, sugary foods, fruit and dairy products. Glucose is important for providing us with energy for all
sorts of things in the body, such as movement, or repairing any damage to the body. Carbohydrates
are commonly broken down by the hormone insulin, produced by the pancreas, but for people with
diabetes there is a problem with this process. Either the insulin they produce is unable to break down
the carbohydrates, or their bodies do not produce insulin. This means that they have difficulty getting
the glucose they need to use in their bodies.
There are thought to be two types of diabetes; Type I and Type II. Type I diabetes is caused by the
body being unable produce any or enough insulin to use the glucose, usually because the insulin
producing cells have been destroyed. This destruction is predicted to be caused by a virus. This means
that glucose can build up in the blood stream. Type I diabetes is particularly common in those under
40, especially children.
In comparison to those with Type I diabetes, those with Type II can still produce insulin in the pancreas.
However, this can prove to be not enough insulin, or insulin which does not work as it should do. This
is known as Insulin Resistance. As a result, the glucose in the body is only partially broken down, and
can build up in the blood stream. Type II diabetes has always been more common in those over 40,
although it can be found at any age. Type II diabetes is also the most common form of diabetes,
accounting for roughly 85-95% of all those who have diabetes.

How to Improve Your Sleep
By Stan Tian | Sleep Disorders | Unrated
How can I sleep better? Many people have this question
within their minds because they have simply no idea that
while being so much tired and exhausted they cant sleep
properly. They are workaholics, performing their jobs
from 9 to 5 every day on the clock and yet still when they
get to bed, they dont get anything else besides thoughts
and visions that would keep them awake for a longer
span of time. If you are one of such people who have
same concern then you should know that better sleeping
pattern is something, which is really important and
essential in order to overcome such issues and concerns.
Without this, you would feel exhausted and frustrated for
most of the times. Most of all, your life wont be that
much refreshing and youthful as you want it to be.

In this piece of writing, I would be sharing some

important information and techniques which will surely
give you the answer of the question which you have in
your mind that how can I sleep better.
If you are finding trouble in sleeping, you should consider
diverting your mind away from several things you think
about when you are in the bed. You can distract your
mind by sleeping on a couch that is your favorite, or
reading something nice before going to bed; this tip is
probably the best one because reading would bring your
mind to the state of peace. Reading should be done in an
effectual manner though. Avoid newspapers or any kind
of magazines because then your mind is supposed to get
conflicted once again. You can also watch a soothing
video or listen to a calm tape before going to bed as well
in order to strengthen up your sleeping patterns.
Make sure you are not spending too much time staying in
bed before you actually sleep because this is something
that would not do anything good for you. You should
make use of that time and get to bed as soon as you
realize its time to get some sleep.
Stress is a phenomenon that is involved with our lives
causing an inability and distraction to sleep accurately
and deliberately. Doing a relaxation exercise or activity
before you go to sleep can help you coping up with stress,
relieving some tension and promoting a much healthier
sleep as well.
Above mentioned were some techniques with the help of
which you can surely strengthen up your sleeping

patterns and get a sufficient amount of sleep on

consistent basis as well.
