The Importance of Logic in Critical Thinking

Logic in a very broad sense can be defined as the way we think as a

person, the way we reason and react on things around us. I can seem to
see the similarities between the two. They are almost the same but not
quite. LOGIC is in CRITICAL THINKING. Logic and critical thinking go hand
in hand. Most of my major decisions are thought through and analyzed. I
take the information I am presented with and then go from there. This is
very important if my decision is going to affect more than one person. If a
decision effects my family or people I care about I am more likely to take a
little longer to analyze the information presented. When people that you
care about are involved it takes you through so many obstacles and
thoughts. There are times when you are not sure what would be the best
thing to do in a situation. The nature of logic as understood is when you
have a situation, belief, or tradition. It is a situation examined and reviewed
in great detail to discover the reasoning behind a behavior. Critical thinking
as I understand it is when you view a situation in multiple ways to get an
accurate answer or results. The nature of logic relates to critical thinking by
examining the situation and thoughts to get a clearer decision of possible
outcomes, or reasoning. Critical thinking, by definition, involves elements of
logic and perception. Without logic, one cannot complete a critical thought.
Logic as I have researched is very essential for us to have a good
and correct reasoning. On the other hand, Critical Thinking is something
that we do every day in certain situation. Critical thinking calls for a
persistent effort to examine any belief or supposed form of knowledge in
the light of the evidence that supports it and the further conclusions to
which it tends. It also generally requires ability to recognize problems, to

find workable means for meeting those problems, to gather and marshal
pertinent(relevant) information, to recognize unstated assumptions and
values,

to

comprehend

and

use language with

accuracy,

clarity,

and discrimination, to interpret data, to appraise evidence and evaluate

arguments, to recognize the existence (or non-existence) of logical
relationships between propositions, to draw warranted conclusions and
generalizations, to put to test the conclusions and generalizations at which
one arrives, to reconstruct one's patterns of beliefs on the basis of wider
experience, and to render accurate judgments about specific things and
qualities in everyday life. Logic, is a deductive reasoning that results when
the human brain calculates the most rational and acceptable outcome of
any given situation and recognizes that answer as the most constructive,
and consequently the most desirable. When faced with any situation you
can divide the reactionary decision into two groups; rational or irrational,
instinctual or improve, emotional or logical. Emotional responses tend to be
the strongest desire in the moment, when followed outcomes like crimes of
passion or moments of extreme passion. I tend to think that acting on an
emotional paradigm feels better, and tends to be more rewarding but it also
tends to precede more danger. Logical responses happen when the
individual looks at a situation from a third party and recognizes the moral
obligation or larger demographic of opinion that would rationally decide the
correct decision. Why logic is so relevant to everyday life is a difficult
question. I believe it stems from a natural human desire to help support a
social group and thus keep everyone content. This instinctual human
behavior might originate from tribal hunts in ancient times when a single
person would bring back a catch and share it equally with the tribe, thus
keeping the tribe alive and healthy. The center of this instinct also shares
space with politics, and even our stock market of buying and sharing stock.

So as you can see there is always a relationship or a line that

connects logic and critical thinking to our daily life. Logic and critical
thinking is important in our daily life since in our daily life we make

decisions that affect our life. We should think logically in order to live a
more meaningful life. In critical thinking we should also need logical
thinking since if we think critically we should also need logic since we
should think if what we think is what we can do or apply since sometimes
even we do critical thinking but it is not logically possible. Logic and critical
thinking can also be developed through our experiences we can develop
this mind of ours to think better. Basically logical thinking means saving
ones life, as a pedestrian in traffic infested urban streets life literally
depends on how a person thinks and understands that a big truck is
approaching fast, so he should not cross the streets otherwise his brain will
be splattered all over the gutter if he insists so.
Critical Thinking is somewhat has become a stimulant to students like
me. Teacher use it as a new technique or method. They give out these
tricky questions that make you really think deep, weighing options and
choosing the best one. Sometimes subconsciously we are already using
logic to get in to the correct reason in deciding on it. And I happen to like it.
Not that it kills time during a boring class it just so happens that I like
thinking. Using logic as a tool without even knowing it. It is called AKKAL.
Thats logic. Logic comes in easy in critical thinking, it comes easy but
using it is not.
